They are charged with overseeing and directing the life and mission of our church. We encourage you to talk with them! Last month on Sept.7 th we celebrated with many ELCA congregations throughout the United States God s Work. Our Hands. Sunday. We, together as the church, made letters and cards to U.S. troops and people who are homebound or sick. We also put in our community garden beds. Our community garden will go into full swing in the spring, but we are making a great start. At Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer we are continuing to not only be God s hands on special days like God s Work, Our Hands. Sunday, but we as individual members are being God s hands, feet, and voice every day! How have you been God s hands or feet or voice today? Who have you come in contact with and showed them God s love and grace? We are on this journey together, we are the church together, and we are the body of Christ together! Notice the repetition of one word. TOGETHER. WE ARE CALLED TO WALK THIS PATH TOGETHER! So I ask you to reflect on how you need others to help you, support you, encourage you, challenge you, empower you, and love you. And, how can you help, support, encourage, challenge, empower, and love all of God s children whom you encounter? This place that we gather together on Sundays to worship God, this place that we gather during the week for Bible study, confirmation, meetings, groups, this is a safe place for all of us to help, support, encourage, challenge, empower, and love one another. Because through helping, supporting, encouraging, challenging, and loving we can GROW. GROW IN FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE OF GOD! GROW TO BE IN CLOSER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND WITH ONE ANOTHER! We welcome your participation as we enjoy fellowship, as well as the gratification that comes from service to those in need. On Sun., Nov. 2, the intergenerational Sunday school activity will be the making of new labyrinth stones by each family. Our labyrinth has old, broken family and individual stones which were made when Intern Kent Narum and Pastor Frank Lay made the labyrinth. Each family attending Sunday school on Nov. 2 at 9:00 a.m. will be provided with quik-crete, stones, marbles, colored rocks, etc. to use to make their family stone. Please start saving disposal pie plates and any decorating items that can be used to decorate the stones. All donations will be gladly accepted. On Oct. 26, in conjunction with Pastor Appreciation Sunday, we will hold our annual Potato Bake following worship. Donations received will help fund our trip to Detroit, MI for the National Youth Gathering held next July. We now meet on the third Sunday of each month following fellowship in the youth group room. If you are interested in helping out as a youth group leader, please visit with Pastor Kaila or Dave Jorgensen. October Church-wide Activity Let s Go Bowling! Join us on Sunday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m. at Morgan Lanes. Cost is $7, which includes shoes and two games. Please sign-up in the narthex so that we can let Morgan Lanes know how many are coming! 3

How You Can Help ~ Every time you come to church, you have the opportunity to bring items for the Caring Ministries pantry. A tough economic climate and high unemployment have pushed the demand for emergency and supplemental food to record levels. No matter what your budget or schedule holds, there is always a way you can make a big difference in someone else s life. Please donate what you can to bless others in our community who are in need. Food pantry needs: pasta, rice, noodles, mac & cheese, tuna, chicken, fruit and vegetables, or anything you can spare. 6
