2 Who Are We? Founded in London in 1888, the Catholic Herald is one of the world s oldest and most respected Catholic news publications. After 130 years of operating in the United Kingdom, we launched our weekly US edition in November 2018 and have quickly established ourselves as one of the strongest Catholic voices in America. The Herald fills a large gap in the American media market. We are now America s only national Catholic weekly magazine of current affairs and culture. The magazine celebrates the riches of Catholicism with many of the world s top Catholic and cultural commentators and Vatican watchers writing for us under Editor in Chief Damian Thompson, a veteran church observer of over 25 years and guest commentator on EWTN s The World Over with Raymond Arroyo, the leading Catholic global TV network. Our history underlies the prestige of the brand. We were G.K. Chesterton s favorite Catholic publication, and our list of contributors over our 130 year history has included J.R.R. Our current affairs coverage is sober but never boring. We have a sense of humor but are never frivolous. Our magazine is attractive and eye-catching, with a stylish design, illustrated covers, and beautiful photographs. The publication is co-owned by hotelier Sir Rocco Forte, who personally helped to launch the Herald in America in 2019 at a series of events attended by leading Catholic commentators, such as Father Gerald Murray (right).

3 We regularly publish some of the best Catholic writers in the United States. Our stable includes the legendary Father George Rutler. We also have young stars like Sohrab Ahmari and Matthew Schmitz, and respected clergy like Raymond de Souza. We have also published well known Catholic intellectuals like Ross Douthat and George Weigel. Our contributing editors includes popular Catholics like Phil Lawler, John O Sullivan, Robert Royal, and Chad Pecknold. Since our American launch, we have earned the support of prominent clerical and lay Catholics across the country, including several archbishops. The Herald counts as friends and supporters some of the most successful and influential Catholics in the country. Feedback from them and from average readers always comes back to one point: there is no other Catholic publication in the United States like the Catholic Herald.

4 Circulation The Catholic Herald s US edition has an estimated readership of around 50,000 in America alone with a weekly print circulation of 10,000 plus a fast growing global digital subscription base. Copies are distributed to parish churches across America, with an emphasis on Washington DC, New York, New Jersey, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Texas, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the Midwest. Apart from subscribers and promotional copies to residential households, roughly half our weekly circulation is to Catholic institutions: parishes in major dioceses, Catholic colleges and universities, theological colleges and seminaries, and Catholic non-profits. The Herald is also building a proprietary Gold List : an in-house database of several thousand of the most influential and prominent Catholics in the country in various fields, as well as contacts at national, regional, and local Catholic institutions. These prominent Catholics receive the Herald every week as an ongoing publicity and promotional effort. Our 50,000 readership includes the most important Catholics in the United States journalists and bloggers, academics, public intellectuals, priests, bishops and archbishops, activists, politicians, university presidents, and leaders in philanthropy and business. In addition to such Catholic Influentials, the Herald is also read by Catholic families of middle America. We also target mailings to devout Catholics who fit our reader profile in parts of the northeast, Midwest, southern and western United States. This is an ideal split, especially for educational, charitable, and non-profit advertisers. Reader Profile The Herald s audience is diverse but broadly breaks down into two key groups. At one end are older Catholics, in their mid-fifties and up. They live in both urban and suburban areas and are generally white-collar professionals of the middle classes. At the other end are younger Catholics, in their twenties and early thirties, who take their faith seriously. Many are converts to Catholicism. Because of its style and dynamism, the Herald is growing in popularity among these millennial Catholics. Herald readers tend to lean conservative in their political beliefs and are religiously orthodox. Women are highly represented among Herald subscribers.
