GYLC 2018 was conducted at the Kongress Palaise in Kassel, Germany from July 31-Aug 4, delegates both young and older youth Leaders from all over the world attended this Conference with a total of 120 languages. From SUD 80 delegates attended this conference. The opening night began with a powerful sermon by David Asscherick, Speaker of Light Bearers, Australia. Followed by Introduction of the 4 days program by our beloved GC Youth Director, Gary Blanchard. The daily program started at 9:00 AM with the morning devotion followed by 2 sessions; after which we all separated to our small groups for discussion. We contemplated and discussed about Moses mentoring style toward Joshua and Jesus mentoring style toward his disciples and how we can equip, engage and empower GYLC 2018 the youth leaders. Then we had our lunch. During the afternoon we attended 2 workshops of our choice; these workshops are to educate the youth leaders on church youth programs, then we had supper. The day ended with the evening devotion. And for those who wanted to participate in the Night Lounge to socialize with other youth leaders they were free to do so. Every day the regular program started by 9:00 AM and ended by 9:30 PM. But for some of us we joined the GIVE HIM 20 Morning Prayer with Gary Blanchard at 7:30 AM and were richly blessed. During Friday morning prayer I had the privilege of meeting Elder Ted Wilson, the GC President. Friday afternoon was free so we were able to go for sight- 2

seeing in Kassel: Visited Hercules monument, the Castle and the Museum. In the evening there was an investiture service for Master Guides it was a joy to see so many Master Guides ushered into the Youth Ministry with blessing from the Youth Directors and especially by Elder Ted Wilson. On Sabbath morning a special message was delivered by Ted Wilson, GC President. After Ty Gibson s last session we all went to our small groups for the last time. Sabbath afternoon attended 1 workshop after which we met with Mr. Benoy Tirkey, our SUD Youth Director. During the last devotion David Asscherick delivered his last message followed by a challenge by Gary Blanchard in which he said, Take a risk with youth and its ok if they re better than you! Besides all the presentations there were reports from Youth Depts. of different Divisions, skits, interviews, special songs, prayer sessions and promotions of various youth programs and projects. Revised version of Senior Youth Leaders Curriculum was given out during this congress. 2 Special KJV Edition Bible for Adventurers and Youth was Launched during this congress. Following are features of the youth Bible. Youth Bible: A Bible with different features programmed precisely to meet the needs of a young audience that need answers, advice and food for thought. That food for thought includes 350 articles, QR code links to additional online material, Bible marking plans and a whole 3

section on What is a world changer. As Youth director for the Seventh-day Adventist World Church, Blanchard sees this Bible as a fantastic tool to help youth share the good news. As a special thank you to youth leaders for their tireless and selfless work, he then gave a real surprise, offering one Bible free to each congress participant. Nick Cross, Youth director for the South Pacific Division shared how using some of the discipleship tools imbedded within the Bible have significantly increased the baptismal rate in his part of the world. His team challenged youth to use the World Changer philosophy to reach one person every year and for that one person to then reach someone else. He is delighted that this section practical philosophy and the steps to achieve it can now be shared globally. The Youth Bible is now available in English, Spanish and French. You can find more details, or even purchase your own copy on the Safeliz website. We were richly blessed by messages and presentations of the many speakers during this conference. I would like to put summaries of some messages of only these two speakers: David Asscherick and Ty Gibson only [due to lack of space.] David Asscherick David Asscherick, a wellknown speaker currently pastoring in Australia, began a four-part series by taking on the subject of identity. Asscherick challenged attendees by saying that before getting to icare and iserve, it is assumed that Adventists are clear 4

about their identity. Who really are you? he asked the audience. Asscherick suggested that before Adventists identify themselves by their denominational affiliation, they ought to consider several other layers of identity, including a living being, a human being, theist, mono-theist/christian, and Protestant. He challenged them with the idea that Adventists tend to emphasize points of difference, but argued that these layers of identity give us opportunities to build bridges. As Adventists we are surrounded by walls of our making, which prevent those out there from accessing the message and keep us from accessing them, Asscherick concluded. Paraphrasing a well-known Mark Twain quote, Asscherick emphasized that the two most important days in a person s life are the day on which you were born and the day on which you were born again the day on which you find out why you were born. His main point: If you don t know who you are, you will never know why you are here. Asscherick concluded part one of his series by reminding the audience that Satan tempted Jesus 5

in the wilderness by questioning His identity, beginning each temptation with If you are the son of God. You will be similarly challenged over your identity, Asscherick said, assuring the Bearers Ministry, also reflected on principles of leadership. Gibson referenced studies demonstrating the existence of a universal and historical narrative of leadership in which the leader uses power over others, and the hero uses force to audience that his messages over the next few days would continue to address the question of identity. Ty Gibson For his last message, Ty Gibson, co-director of Light fight enemies and perpetuates the myth of redemptive violence. Only one narrative runs contrary to that universal narrative, Gibson said, which is modeled in the life and teachings 6

of Jesus. He pointed to a conversation Jesus had with followers in which Jesus said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, but it shall not be so among you. Jesus is founding a new governing system, Gibson argued. He is bringing into existence a whole new way to be human. In this counter-narrative, there is power under others; the hero uses love to fight enemies; and the story of redeeming love is taught and lived out. Gibson pointed out that a god on a cross was an absurdity to the Romans and Greeks, prompting the apostle Paul to refer to this as the foolishness of the cross. And yet, he says, Paul writes that to those who are being saved it is the power of God. Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, Gibson shared, recognized and concluded that in light of the universal narrative, the cross was a horrible extravagance, an audacious inversion, a trans-valuation of all ancient values. Jesus didn t merely die on the cross to give you and me a post-mortem ticket to heaven, suggested Gibson. He also died on the cross to birth a whole new way to relate to one another. He founded a new system of leadership. With this in mind, Gibson shared three principles of leadership that he said align with the teachings and the life of Jesus. First, Gibson said, the Christian leader leads from the center, not the top; from among people, with them, exerting influence. Second, he shared, the Christian leader does not posture for control but for trust. Third, suggested Gibson, the Christian leader serves within one body under one head, Jesus Christ a community of equals under one head, allowing the leader to value 7

each individual while unleashing their creativity. The most effective leader, the only Christian leader, concluded Gibson, will empower from the center, build trust, and mobilize individual genius. The GYLC 2018 meeting ended with the theme song, Pass it on. By the mass choir. Pr Ted Wilson and Pr. Gary Blanchard bid farewell to all of us with their prayer of blessing. I would like to thank the NEIU Officers for giving me the privilege to attend this meeting and I will always cherish the things that I ve learnt there and strive to serve the church in the youth dept in a better way. 10 Ted Wilson s Message During GYLC 2018 Good Fruit Leaders Concluding the 2018 Global Youth Leaders Congress, held in Kassel, Germany from July 31 to August 4, 2018, keynote speakers, including world church president Ted Wilson, drove home critical points for approximately 1,600 Seventh-day Adventist youth leaders who came speaking 120 languages from all parts of the globe. Good Fruit Leaders Wearing a Pathfinder scarf in support of Adventist club ministries, Wilson began with an introductory statement of affirmation. Young people will form the greatest power to proclaim God s word to this world, he said. Wilson went on to reference the theme of the event by encouraging youth leaders to help [young people] assume leadership in their local church. Along those lines, he challenged attendees not to just simply entertain young people. Feed them with God s precious word and then put them 9

to work in service of God and for others, he said. Addressing a room full of leaders, Wilson turned to the concept of leadership. Who do we turn to for direction in youth ministry ourselves, or experts, or social media? he asked. Or do you as youth leader lean upon the greatest leader of all time, Jesus Christ, his Word, and his Spirit of Prophecy? Expounding further, Wilson turned to the Bible and the book of John, chapter 15, for a deeper understanding of what he called the personal spiritual experience necessary to lead the worldwide youth of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The chapter records a metaphor used by Jesus, Wilson pointed out, in which believers are the branches connected to himself, the vine, and as a result, bear fruit. However, he said, our professed confession with Christ does not necessarily bear fruit; we must be grounded in him. Wilson shared that God may test and prune believers in order that we might truly be good fruit leaders. While challenging leaders to share concepts such as the doctrine of the sanctuary, Wilson also sounded a word of caution for leaders. Let s not invent or promote new understanding of the foundational biblical truths that were entrusted to us from heaven itself at the formation of this great Advent movement, he said. God intends for us as good fruit leaders to spend time helping those who are dying spiritually, those who need an infusion of God s heavenly power into their lives, concluded Wilson. Let s vow today to be good fruit leaders by abiding in Christ personally on a daily basis. Pass it on, he challenged youth leaders, as you instill in our young people identity in Christ, mission as Seventh-day Adventists, and spiritual leadership in the local church. 10

Two Companies in Garo Section Organized As a result of God s abundant blessings, two companies of Garo Section was organized into churches. These 2 newly formed churches are: 1. 13 know the church doctrine well. Publishing, Stewardship, Health and Temperance Director Pr. Jolonto G. Momin ordained the newly elected elders, deacons and deaconesses of these 2 churches. Ampati Circle Director Pr. Lavest R. Marak took the vespers service at Dilnegri and Dadenggri Circle Director Pr. Pithin M. Momin took the vespers at Rangsigri. May God s richest blessings be upon these two newly formed churches! Reported by: Barwin Marak, Director, Communication Dept., Garo Section of SDA And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:

Publishing cum Special Ministries Training There are 4 literature evangelists in the Publishing Ministries and 18 volunteers in the Special Ministries program (ie. Global Mission, Cornerstone and Jesus for Asia Ministries). Thus, a special training program was organized for these workers from July 8-10, 2018 at New Tura SDA Church. Northeast India Union s Publishing Director Pr. Barcley K. Momin was the main resource personnel at this training. The morning and evening devotion was taken by the Pr. Jolonto G. Momin, Mr. Mithusela Momin, Mr. Minith Marak, Mr. Silseng N. Sangma and Mr. Withjeng Sangma. 13

At this training, the importance of Publishing Ministry in this century was clearly presented to the volunteers and the LEs. The resource personnel further explained that in this last generation, it will be through the Publishing Ministry that God s work will be expanded because other means and methods are gradually getting diffucult. Every attendee who attended this training were richly blessed. May God bless their ministry! The gospel message does not win a single soul to Christ, or make its way to a single heart, without wounding the head of Satan. Whenever a captive is wrenched from his grasp, delivered from his oppression, the tyrant is defeated. The publishing houses, the presses, are instrumentalities in God s hand to send out to every tongue and nation the precious light of truth. This light is reaching even to heathen lands, and is constantly making inroads upon superstition and every conceivable error. Testimonies for the Church 4:

Knowing that on the Sabbath day, there will not be enough seats inside the church, the deacons of New Tura SDA Church pitched tents outside the church and arranged for the seating arrangement so that every attendee will have a seat that day. Thus, more than 500 people attended on the Sabbath day and listened to the President of AAC Mr. Subash Marak preach and many were blessed. This convention was successfully conducted and every believer who attended this meeting was richly blessed. With great zeal and revived spirit, the believers returned to their respective churches and companies on Sunday morning. May God bless all these believers in Garo Hills! 19 Activities of AWRA Eleven out of the 40+ retired workers from the Mizo Conference gathered on October 25, 2015 in the Conference Committee room to form what is now known as Adventist Workers Association [AWRA]. These retirees did not gather to formulate plans against the church policy or to make a platform to launch their grievances against the church. But to let the church members and the present church employees know that they are there to help and give support to the work of the church. One senior member was assigned the task of formulating the constitution and bylaws of the association. Office bearings were elected and executive committee members were formed. Since the formation of the AWRA, three retirees have been laid to rest to await the resurrection. At present there are 49 members. Each member contributed Rs as membership fee when he/she first joined the association. Each year the membership fee is Rs AWRA s one big desire is to continue being active in evangelism though physically it might not be possible. So, the members decided to collect special evangelism fund for conducting crusade or cottage meetings. A total of Rs.15, was collected in 2017 and the Mizo Conference matched this amount. Between August 2-19, 2018 an evangelistic crusade was conducted by two retired pastors: Pr. M Romawia and Pr. Saizika Sailo in Rajdali in Kolasib circle. They were assisted by evangelists of that circle. This small endeavour resulted in the baptism of 40 precious souls. Follow up work is still going on which we hope will bring more souls. 18

AWRA s evangelism fund is targeted at Rs.60, this year 2018 and each member is contributing generously. The members strongly believe that, There is no limit to the usefulness of one who, by putting self aside makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart and lives a life wholly consecrated to God. DA Pg May AWRA continue to evangelise. Reported by: Nunthari Sailo, Secretary AWRA I hope that none of those who have been long in the work will think that because they are growing old, they are incapacitated for service. I hope that they will stand up to bear their message as long as they have the evidence that the Lord is helping them. Edson [Ellen White s second son], encourage the men who have long borne burdens in our work. Even though in their old age their memory may fail somewhat, yet respect them, and the Lord will surely bless you. And let no aged worker, although he is old and gray, think that he is released from service. Let the work be carried on in simplicity. Surely we have the Lord on whom to depend. Letter 102,

How A Broken Suv Became A Missionary Returning tithe brings unexpected blessings By: Andrew mcchesney Parking at home after a weekend camping trip, Joe Marcellino saw a trail of oil going up the street from his Isuzu Trooper SUV. Joe, a 33-year-old IT manager at the Seventh-day Adventist world church headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, called a friend for help. The friend, Eric Armer, found that the oil had spewed from the oil filter s rubber gasket and warned that the engine had probably sustained significant damage. He estimated that repairs could cost more than $3,000. Joe and Susan, recently married, had about $3,000 in the bank. But Joe was reluctant to 20

spend the money on the SUV because the couple had fallen behind in returning tithe and owed about $1,500 for the past three months. Susan saw no room for discussion. We need to give our first fruits, she said. Joe and Susan prayed and decided to return tithe rather than repair the SUV. REPAIRING THE SUV After this decision, Eric contacted Joe and advised him to contact the gas station that had changed his oil shortly before the camping trip. The gas station sent a mechanic to Joe s house and, after an inspection, took responsibility for the damaged engine and paid them $3,000. Joe asked another friend, Bill Brody a car mechanic, to rebuild the engine. When the repairs were finished, Joe received the bill for $1,500. To his surprise, the $3,000 from the gas station s insurance had been enough to cover the cost of the repairs and his tithe. Bill, the mechanic, also cautioned Joe not to keep the SUV. As a personal friend, I advise you to sell it as soon as possible, he said. Within a week, Joe was approached by Wayne Calbi, the purchasing director at the General Conference. Wayne asked Joe whether he would be willing to sell the SUV. A missionary in Africa has asked specifically to buy an Isuzu Trooper, he said. Are you willing to sell it? Joe immediately shared the SUV s history and his worry that the engine wouldn t last long. said. I ll take the risk, Wayne 21

SHIPPED TO AFRICA He gave Joe a fair price and had the vehicle shipped to Africa. Seeing Joe s concerns, he promised to keep him posted on what happened to the SUV. The vehicle had 40,000 miles (about 64,000 kilometers) at the time of the sale. After about 18 months had gone by, Wayne said to Joe, You remember that SUV? It now has over 100,000 miles on it. Praise the Lord! Joe said. I didn t think it would last that long. A couple years later, Wayne said, Joe, I wanted to let you know it s passed the 200,000-mile mark. Now Joe was truly amazed. A few years later, Wayne said the SUV had passed 300,000 miles. It is the Lord who kept it going for this missionary! Joe said. Joe, now 61, said the experience taught him an important lesson about mission and the importance of returning tithe first. The Lord met our needs when we sat down as husband and wife to give our first fruits to Him and to put our trust in Him, Joe said. He didn t only meet our needs, but He also met the needs of the missionary in Africa. He knew other needs down the line that we didn t know about, and the SUV was a blessing that kept on giving year after year. 22

Various programs were organized by the women on this Day to encourage each other and to be a role model at home and in the society at large. May

the Lord continue to strengthen the Seventh-day Adventist women of Arunachal and all over the world. Reported by: Michael Sangma, Secretary / Treasurer, Arunachal Region of SDA When the youth give their hearts to God, our responsibility for them does not cease. They must be interested in the Lord s work, and led to see that He expects them to do something to advance His cause. It is not enough to show how much needs to be done, and to urge the youth to act a part. They must be taught how to labor for the Master. They must be trained, disciplined, drilled, in the best methods of winning souls to Christ. Teach them to try in a quiet, unpretending way to help their young companions. Let different branches of missionary effort be systematically laid out, in which they may take part, and let them be given instruction and help. Thus they will learn to work for God. Ellen G. White, Gospel Workers, p

Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus The year was For months, Ellen White traveled extensively to promote revival and reformation, speaking continually of the transformational beauty of Christ s righteousness. Though she had just spent three weeks preaching at a Kansas camp meeting, she pressed on for more appointments at Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The journey would not be easy. Because of heavy rains and flooding, trains were delayed or cancelled, and many passengers returned in frustration to New York. Ultimately, finding no other recourse, Ellen and her assistant hired two drivers, a carriage, and horses to continue the journey. In the end, Ellen walked many miles through the mud and rain, slipping and sliding over the mountain rocks, around uprooted trees and flood debris, crossing gulches where the bridges were entirely washed out. They did not know a dam had broken southwest of Williamsport, causing a roaring flood through Johnstown and killing more than 2,000 people. At last, they reached a hotel, but no warm food was available. Wet and hungry, they went to bed only to awaken to the roar of the swollen river, which now seemed 28

impassable. Undeterred, Mrs. White organized a raft-building project, safely crossed the treacherous water, and found the soggy campground with the campers discouraged but safe. Was the arduous trip worth the trouble just to talk about revival and reformation at a soggy camp meeting? Ellen White thought so. She found a group of believers who had listened to a lot of doctrinal discourse, but were in desperate need of practical instruction on how to believe, simply believe, in Jesus Christ. To be like Jesus this is the goal set forth by John the beloved: Whoever says, I abide in Him, ought to walk just as He walked (1 John 2:6, NRSV). 31 A Few Words Of Sincere Gratitude By: Pastor Graceson Kamei, Director, Stewardship Ministries Department I on behalf of Union Officers and the staff would like express my heartfelt appreciation and thankfulness to all the members of Northeast India Union SDA Churches for their untiring support and prayer which enable the Union Administration to run smoothly so far and so good. Our Church as a whole is on the move with the Commission of Jesus Christ being entrusted to GO out, MAKE disciple, and BAPTISE them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 24: 19) Your faithfulness in returning God s tithe and your desire to participate in Gospel Ministries through your spontaneous Offering is persuaded by the Holy Spirit. Let your lamp of faith in Christ keep burning bright till Christ returns to take us to Home sweet Home where there is no evil and tribulations! I do hope that all of you who take a glance at the Stewardship Report will surely like to praise God for His bountiful blessing and guidance for the of Northeast India Union of Seventh-day Adventist Churches. The Blessings of Stewardship In commissioning His disciples to go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature, Christ assigned to men the work of extending the knowledge of His grace. But while some go forth to preach, He calls upon others to answer His claims upon them for offerings, with which to support His cause in the earth. He has placed means in the hands of men that His divine gifts may flow through human channels in doing the work appointed us in saving our fellow men. This is one 30

of God s ways of exalting man. It is just the work that man needs; for it will stir the deepest sympathies of his heart, and calls into exercise the highest capabilities of the mind. {CS 15.1} Every good thing of earth was placed here by the bountiful hand of God as an expression of His love to man. The poor are His, and the cause of religion is His. The gold and the silver are the Lord s; and He could rain them from heaven if He chose. But instead of this He has made man His steward, entrusting him with means, not to be hoarded, but to be used in benefiting others. He thus makes man the medium through which to distribute His blessings on earth. God planned the system of beneficence, in order that man might become like his Creator, benevolent and unselfish in character, and finally be a partaker with Christ of the eternal, glorious reward. Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine Proverbs 3:9, 10. {CS 13.1} Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship. 33 PF Club And Adv. Club Of Shillong Sda Church Many parents are happy to see the activities of the Pathfinder and Adventurer Club. Taking this point into consideration, I on behalf of the parents express my profound gratitude and appreciation for all the concerned leaders of the said Club. Mention can be made that Dr. L. F Lyngdoh, though he is retired from active mission service, he is still taking the lead role for the club. Without any exaggeration, I would say that his love, vision, interest and concern for the young people are apparently noticed by all. Regular classes and training courses are being taken up every Sunday by counselors. Recreation, Game and Sports are being conducted from time to time. Indeed, young people who joined in this club are blessed and benefited and are taught and molded to be good standing Christians and successful and obedient citizens. 32

The leaders of Adventure club are also tirelessly conducting their classes weekly. Children of this club are doing well. Mrs. Ella Luikham and Miss Basanti Rao are leading the tiny kids into the right tract. Of course these little children are not easy to handle. However, they are in good control. On 12 th August, 2018, the Adventurers Club took up the AY Program entitled HEAVEN depicting the goodness and eternity where Jesus shall live with all the saints. It was so inspiring and the sense of belongingness to that land beyond seashore was felt in the heart. Each church member present that day was enlightened and envisioned of that future joy and peace. My humble thankfulness is being conveyed for the following: Mrs. B. Lyngdoh, Neil Phanbuh, Emdor Kharkongor, Alice Danla Chiru, Daiaphi Kharkongor and Joyce Sumer. They sacrificed their valuable time for the children. Their kind of cooperation with leaders is imitable. I admire them for many good reasons. All the best for all your upcoming events and Programs! 36 She also explained the hierarchy of WM leaders from the GC level down to the local church WM leader. The other topics were Our 6 challenges and Women Ministries Plans, these sessions were very interesting and lively, we are much blessed by the leadership of Mrs. Betty Lyngdoh. In the training we took time to discuss the challenges faced at local churches due to lack of time, resource and training. The women of Gauhati church came to give their support in the meeting. Some of them helped in cooking, and some attended the sessions. Mrs. Hmingpuii Colney and Mrs. C.Aitawna cooked our tasty lunch, we are thankful for their help. After lunch we took up one session to choose Women Ministries circle leaders for the three new circles of Assam. We had a short session on how to give reports at the end of each quarters, follow by a testimony and short report from Mrs. Elizabeth Ekka of Sugunbari Hindi church. As it was only a one-day training we ended our program with lots of hugs and goodbyes and a group photo. For most of us we were meeting for the first time. We consider the program a true success, we were fully encouraged to do our own parts in our local churches and very much eager to meet one another again in the near future. 37 AWR in AP Region Mr. Sangla Shanrang 61 yrs of age along with 10 of his family members heard the Adventist Gospel message through Adventist World Radio (AWR). After listening to AWR broadcast for more than 2 years, they accepted the Sabbath truth and were baptized on September 1, They were from remote village called Lungka in Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh. Here is how it all begun: village. So they gave a false report to the BSF (Boarder Security Force) army stationed around that area that the headman has very close connection with the UGs. Many times the army questions him and investigate about his relation with the UGs but were not able to prove of any link. Later the army intelligent came to know that it was a trick and plot against him by some villagers to take him down from the post of headman Mr. Sangla was the headman (gaunbura) of the Lungka village. Their village lies near the border of (Myanmar) Burma. The area is remote and there were many rebel group (Underground = UG) of people staying in that area. Mr. Sangla Shanrang Unfortunately there were some village men who became Jealous of this man and wanted to take his headman post of the 36

of the village. And since they were not successful in this plot they were even planning to take his life through different means. The BSF intelligent came to know about the danger of his life and so he was advised to leave the village and go to a different place for his safety. In the month of May, 2015 he ran away to a village called Nilaw in Myanmar ( Burma ) and stayed there with his friend. While he was there he came to know about the radio program called Adventist World Radio (AWR) from his friend who always listens to this program in Burmese language. But since he could not understand Burmese well he asked his friend if this program is also broadcasted in Hindi. When they search they got the broadcast in Hindi and from then on they listened turn by turn every AWR program for about 2 years. Mr. Sangla learned about the Sabbath truth and about clean & unclean food from this AWR program and that Seventh-day Adventists are the group of people who kept all the commandment of God according to the Bible. Meanwhile the situation in his native village Lungka was peaceful and alright and he returned home. He introduced this AWR program to his family members and all of them were very much interested and they listened together as family members and were all convinced of the Sabbath truth and about clean & unclean animals and food. So they stopped eating all unclean food and rearing of pigs, removed wearing jewelries and never do any work on the Sabbath Day. They were determined to take baptism and join the SDA Church. And they thought they will be the first Adventist people in Arunachal Pradesh. Since they did not know any Adventist believers in Arunachal they were wondering how to get in touch with Adventist people in 37

India. Lo and behold God opened a way for them, their friend from Burma with whom Mr. Sangla used to listen the AWR who now is an Adventist believer called him and said he will help them and he inform this matter to one Adventist Pastor in Burma. The pastor contacted the Burma Union Adventist leaders and they informed Mizo Conference of SDA and to AWR Director. The Mizo AWR director then informed this matter to Secretary of Arunachal Region of SDA. It was in the last week of June Pr. L Fanai, Director, Arunachal Region of SDA and Pr. Stephan Hembrom an evangelist went to meet this gospel thirsty group of people of Lungka village, about 370 km away from Itanagar. They were given Bible Studies and were taught about Adventist Doctrines. Two months later on 38

September 1, 2018 eleven (11) members were baptized. After baptism the headman (gaunbura) donated one plot of land for the church to construct a place of worship. Though the plot of land is given free of cost, due to poor financial condition it is a big burden for the Arunachal Region of SDA to build a place of worship for these newly baptized believers of Adventists. However, we hope and pray that God will send some kind people with donation to build the proper place of worship for them very soon. Donations may be sent to Arunachal Region of SDA or through Northeast India Union of SDA, Shillong. There are many more of their friends who are getting ready to accept the Adventist gospel message in this area. Let us continue to pray for them. Thank you Adventist World Radio for your wonderful Ministry, and reaching to the unreached in Arunachal Pradesh. Reported by: Michael Sangma, Secretary / Treasurer, Arunachal Region of SDA And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 39

Inauguration at Jhawarbill Company Church Jhawarbill is situated in the forest area of Gossaigaon. Balagaon Organized church is the mother church of Jhawarbill. Jhawarbill and Balagaon area is divided by a river called Sankosh which flows from Bhutan Mountain. 3 families from Balagaon were shifted to the other part of the river with entire family to start their livelihood there; but it was difficult for them to attend church on Sabbath due to distance as well as current of the river during the rainy season. So Balagaon, took the step to open a sister church at Jhawarbill in the year In the year 2018 our worker Stipan Hasda approached the office and he shared the plan to construct a small tin house to worship, soon Assam Region released the fund but it was so sad to know that after a few days it was destroyed by storm one night. During the second visit again members approached the region with better plan to construct the church. Assam Region was convinced that the plan will work out and was ready to release fund for them the second time. Finally the construction was completed in August The members requested Pr. Deepak Boro, Director of Assam Region to inaugurate the church on 7 th September 2018 accompanied by Mr. Esmile Kerketta, Accountant and Pr. Seth Guria, Circle Leader of Lower Assam. At am the church was inaugurated in collaboration with Balagaon Church, Pokhihaga and Jhawarbill Church members. The neighbouring churches also came to witness the inauguration ceremony. About 200 people gathered to support the church. The program was followed by warm welcome given by 40

It is a joy to witness the baptism of 6 members on the Sabbath day by Pr. Seth Guria, Circle Leader of Lower Assam. The future plan is to construct a good Jhawarbill church Leader followed by encouraging sermon given by Pr. Deepak Boro and all were richly blessed. The vote of thanks was given by Church Elder of Balagaon SDA. The ceremony concluded with lunch provided by Jhawarbill member for all the invited people. church so kindly remember Jhawarbill Church in your personal prayer. 43 Time Belongs To God This write up is not intended to define what time is all about. But it is a simple attempt to understand as to how to use and manage time when we are given opportunity to speak, pray and preach. Every Christian is a Steward of God. Steward s work is truly inclusive of all areas of human walk of life. It talks a lot about management over all things given by God. Time is not given only to man. God gives time for both animate and inanimate things. However, God gives responsibility only to human to take care of everything in this world under His guidance. It is undeniable fact that the Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy tell clearly about time. Let us examine some of the facts about time found in the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy Books. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil Eph. 5: 15, 16 KJV Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away James 4: 14 KJV As Gospel workers and church leaders, we need to sense the importance of time. Some church leaders keep on speaking what he likes to speak not what is important for the congregation. There are few persons almost in every church who really like to pronounce a long prayer repeating the same points. Prayer should not be sermonized. Pray to the point from the heart. Everyone is listening to prayer. We should pray in such a way that every one hears our prayers. There are so many Gospel workers (Pastors and Evangelists) 42

who really like to preach long during Prayer Meeting, Vesper Meeting and Divine worship. We should not be emotionally excited when we are given opportunity to preach or pray. What does the Spirit of Prophecy Books say on these matters? Let us take a short look: Prayer Meetings should be the most interesting gatherings that are held, but these are frequently poorly managed, many attend preaching, but neglect the prayer meeting. Here again, thought is required. Wisdom should be sought of God, and plans should be laid to conduct the meetings so that they will be interesting and attractive. Long, prosy talks and prayers are out of place anywhere, and especially in the social meeting. Those who are most superficial generally have the most to say. Their prayers are long and mechanical. They weary the angels and the people who listen to them (4T p ). Preaching is a small part of the work to be done for the salvation of the souls (Ibid. p. 69) BAD USE OF TIME IS A LOST TIME We are admonished to redeem time. But time squandered can never be recovered. We cannot call back even one moment. The only way in which we can redeem our time is by making the most of that, which remains, by being coworkers with God in His great plan of redemption. - Christ s Object Lessons p JUDICIOUS USAGE OF TIME METHOD OF UTILIZATION OF ONE S TIME It is the duty of every Christian to acquire habits of order, thoroughness, and dispatch. There is no excuse for slow bungling at work of any character. When one is always at work, and the work is never done, it is because mind and heart are not put 43

into the labor. The one who is slow, and who works at a disadvantage, should realize that these are faults to be corrected. He needs to exercise his mind in planning how to use the time so as to secure the best results. By tact and method, some will accomplish as much work in five hours as another does in ten. Some who are engaged in domestic labor are always at work, not because they have so much to do, but because they do not plan so as to save time. By their slow, dilatory ways, they make much work out of very little. But all who will may overcome these fussy, lingering habits. In their work let them have a definite aim. Decide how long a time is required for a given task, and then bend every effort toward accomplishing the work in a given time. The exercise of the will power will make the hands move deftly Christian Stewardship, p It is good that I m not my own master; that my time is not in my hands, but that my time, my life s story, I myself, all is in the hands of God. Karl Barth, Ce Qui Demeure, Labor et Fides. A TIME TO BE HELPFUL Money, influence, tact, time, and strength all these are gifts entrusted to us to make us more helpful to those around us, and more of an honor to our Creator ( This Day with God, p. 68). Conclusion: ARE YOU WASTING TIME IN YOUR COMFORTABLE BED? So far so good, I am used to get up early in the morning and do my Morning Walk. I do help my wife in the kitchen sometimes. At times, I spend 30 minutes for gardening. Before Office hour comes, most of the morning hours I use productively balancing my limited time. Everyone can do this daily routine. Read Bible, Write 44

down some good thoughts, Edit a few pages of what you have written and help children s homework. Ellen G. White said, The bright morning hours are wasted by many in bed. These precious hours, once lost, are gone never to return; they are lost for time and for eternity. Only one hour lost each day, and what a waste of time in the course of a year! Let the slumber think of this and pause to consider how he will give an account to God for lost opportunities. This small article is not in any way trying to put someone down neither blowing my own trumpet. Instead it is encouraging one another to do better and excel in our work by His spirit as we work in His vineyard. Every day is a new day with a new Challenge! Do not try to avoid any challenge. Be it complex or easy challenge, tackle it because in turn it will be a blessing and new experience for our life.
