GATHERING PRELUDE COMMUNITY CONVERSATION & PRAYER REQUESTS THANKSGIVING FOR BAPTISM P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, the fountain of living water, the rock who gave us birth, our light and our salvation. C: Amen. P: Joined to Christ in the waters of baptism, we are clothed with God's mercy and forgiveness. Let us give thanks for the gift of baptism. We give you thanks, O God, for in the beginning your Spirit moved over the waters and by your Word you created the world, calling forth life in which you took delight. Through the waters of the flood you delivered Noah and his family. Through the sea you led your people Israel from slavery into freedom. At the river your Son was baptized by John and anointed with the Holy Spirit. By water and your Word you claim us as daughters and sons, making us heirs of your promise and servants of all. We praise you for the gift of water that sustains life, and above all we praise you for the gift of new life in Jesus Christ. Shower us with your Spirit, and renew our lives with your forgiveness, grace, and love. 6 PRAYER OF THE DAY P: Let us pray. Almighty God, C: with joy we celebrate the day of our Lord's resurrection. By the grace of Christ among us, enable us to show the power of the resurrection in all that we say and do, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. WORD FIRST LESSON Acts 4: Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. 33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. 35 They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need. SECOND LESSON 1 John 1:1 2:2 We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life 2 this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us 3 we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. 5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true; 7 but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the 6

7 truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; 2 and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." 22 When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." 24 But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe." 26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." 27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not 7

8 doubt but believe." 28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe." 30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31 But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Come and See See page 15 (verse 2) SERMON Pastor Kristin Berglund HYMN OF THE DAY Peace Be Yours See page 16 NICENE CREED We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for 8

And so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the witnesses of the resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: Celebrate Jesus See page 17 P: Holy God, you alone are holy, you alone are God. The universe declares your praise: beyond the stars; beneath the sea; within each cell; with every breath. C: We praise you, O God. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. Remembering his love for us on the way, at the table, and to the end, we proclaim the mystery of faith: C: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. 11 THE LORD'S PRAYER P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. INVITATION TO COMMUNION P: Jesus said, "I am the true vine. Abide in me as I abide in you." (United in our shared baptism, we gather at Christ s table. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine of Holy Communion, bringing to us the gift of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Please come forward via the side aisles and receive the bread. After you receive the bread, you may choose an individual glass of wine (purple cups in the outer rings) or grape juice (white cups in the center rings). A chalice of wine is available in the center for those who wish to drink from a common cup. You may return to your pew via the center aisle. If you do not desire to receive communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated.) This service gives us a wonderful opportunity to worship with our brothers and sisters from St. Dominic and Grace Episcopal. A coffee fellowship will follow the service. All are invited to this special event. HELP US GET TO DETROIT!! Five youth and two adults from St. Peter are going to the ELCA National Youth Gathering this summer in Detroit and we need your help to get there. We are asking for you to sponsor a mile (or more or less) to help us get to and from our destination of Detroit, Michigan. One mile costs $20. Just mark your check or offering envelope Youth Trip. We greatly any support you can give us! You can watch our progress as we raise money for this trip by checking out the map that is in the gathering space. We will move our van closer to our destination as we get closer to our goal. Please help us as we seek to grow closer to God and each other through this service trip. We will have lunch and do random fun activities. Meet in the youth room and bring a friend! There will be a meeting for the youth who are attending the Youth Gathering in Detroit this summer following youth group on Sunday, April 12 th. 21

22 HELP FEED THE YOUTH GROUP! We are looking for people who are able to provide a meal for the youth group (about 10 people) during their meetings on the second Sundays of each month. If you are interested in helping out with this ministry please talk to Janet or Pastor Kristin. SUMMER WORSHIP!! From Memorial Day Weekend (May 24th) through Labor Day Weekend (September 6th) we will have one worship service at 9:00am on Sunday mornings. We will also continue our Wednesday evening service each week at 6:00pm. See you there! ARE YOU A FREQUENT FELLOWSHIPPER? Do you really enjoy the after-worship coffee, light snack and catching up with other church members? Would you be very sad if Coffee Fellowship went on hiatus over the summer? St Peter will be going to a single 9am worship service on Sundays during the summer months. A decision has not been made regarding the continuation of Coffee Fellowship during the summer. If you answered YES to the questions above, it s up to you to make the decision for St Peter! If you would like to see Coffee Fellowship continue over the summer, sign up to host in the Narthex. If enough folks sign up to participate (bring snacks, make coffee, clean up ) and the entire summer is accounted for it will continue following the 9am service. If all slots aren t filled we ll start up again in the fall. JULY 18 ST PETER CAMPOUT DINNER AND WORSHIP! Even if you're not camping that weekend, join us at the Gazebo at Kohler-Andrae for an afternoon of food, fun and worship! THE SUNDAY SCHOOL KIDS CHOIR will sing on the 3 rd Sunday of the month at the very beginning of 2 nd service. Parents: if you are not staying for the service, please allow time for your kids to sing at 10:30am before you leave. The kids practice every Sunday during Sunday school and they would love to be able to have you and the rest of the congregation hear their beautiful voices! 22

To be eligible for the scholarship the following criteria must be met: Applicant must be a confirmed member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. The applicant must be attending or will be attending an accredited public or not for profit institution of higher education. The application must be completed in full: including transcripts from your last school attended, references, and essay.
