2 FROM THE PRESBYTER'S DESK Dearly Beloved in Christ, Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ. 'Why do you look for the living among the Dead? He is not here, but has Risen.' Luke 24:5 The Church is entering into a new season, Easter, a day which gives us hope to live and look forward for a life after. The above verse is a significant statement, which redirects us the way we are looking. It is a Good News for everyone. It's quite bizarre to find out that Grave, which signifies Darkness, an end of Hope and Life in this case gives us a hope, Light, and a belief. FOR WHOM WAS THE GOOD NEWS OF RESURRECTION GIVEN? Resurrection bought Good News to all, which was proclaimed from an empty grave. In Both the case, when Jesus Christ was Born and Risen from the dead, the angels of the Lord proclaimed the good news not to anyone particular but for everyone to know. a. Resurrection brought Good News to the Humanity: Jesus chose Mary as the first witness of His resurrection. Her experience shows that the Lord welcomes women as His followers and He uses them greatly, this is evident by her sharing the Good News of resurrection to the disciples. The disciples did not yet understand that Jesus must rise from the dead, in spite of Jesus' repeatedly telling them this before His death but when they believe in the Risen Lord, he assigns them to share this Good News to all the Humanity. b. Resurrection brought Good News to the Weak in Faith: John is the only Gospel to mention Thomas' doubts before he saw the risen Lord. Jesus wants you to move from no faith or weak faith to strong faith. When Jesus did meet with the disciples again with Thomas present and showed His omniscience by repeating back to Thomas the doubts that he had expressed earlier, Thomas exclaimed saying My Lord and My God!. This was more of confession and seeking forgiveness for his doubt. The Lord did not reject him or rebukes him. This shows that the risen Lord doesn't reject us or cast us off when we are lacking or weak in faith. But He strengthens our faith through different methods. c. Resurrection brought Good News to the Deficient: After Peter's denial Lord, asks him about his Love towards Him. The Lord did not want him to be 2 3

3 felt as belittle but wanted to restores his miserable condition of conscious and to use him effectively in His Ministry. This shows that Lord has a unique plan for each one of us. The good news is, if you love the Lord, no matter how badly you may have failed Him in the past, He is gracious to restore you and use you in His service. Because of the Resurrection, we have a new birth and an inheritance that gives us the joy than our grief. Also, we have the responsibility of sharing this Good News with all. This is my final communication to you through this TRUMPET. As you all are aware, we are been transferred to CSI congregation of Great Lakes, Michigan, and will be leaving from Pune on 11th May. Rev. Alex Abraham will be the new Vicar of this Parish; he is currently serving as the Asst. Vicar of CSI Christ Church, Trivandrum and is expected to be here for the service on 27th May. He is efficient and talented Pastor. Also I wish that the Church utilizes his talents to the maximum for the growth of the Church. I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. I extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Benoy Mathews, Secretary; Mr. Chandy Thomas, Treasurer, Mr. P. K. Kurien (Former Secretary), Mr. Samkutty John (former treasurer) and all the past and present Members of the managing committee and the building committee during my tenure for all the support and guidance. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the members and the office bearers of all the Auxiliary Organizations - Women's Fellowship, Men's Fellowship, Youth Fellowship, Choir, & Sunday School- for their selfless services rendered to the Parish and the support extended to us. Once again on behalf of my family and me, I would like to thank each one of you for the Love and care given during the last three years. Pune Parish will always remain special to us, as during the time of difficulty you supported and comforted us, and it is the place where we got a very Special Gift from God. It was indeed wonderful experience that we had here; we learned a lot form this Parish. He belongs to the St. John s CSI Church, Mulekunnu. Kochamma, Mrs. Aneesha Alex, is from Mundakayam. They are blessed with two sweet daughters, Ms. Angela Sarah Alex and Ms. Alma Mary Alex. REPORT ON THE CHOIR SOCIAL The choir social for the year was successfully held on 3rd March 2018 at the Trust Office at 6:30 p.m. It was attended by 14 choir members. Rev Christy David Daniel, our Presbyter addressed the gathering. He explained the importance of participation of the respective members in all the different organizations of the church so that the future of the church will be secure. Choir should actively participate in all the responses in the Sunday service. There was an open forum on how to improve the Choir. Few points discussed in the forum was, Choir will be learn one new song every month. Practice for the same will be on 3rd Saturdays of the month at 5:30 p.m. Choir Retreat for the year 2018 should be scheduled on the Saturday prior to Choir Sunday. It was also decided that on 1st April 2018, 5 new choir members will be dedicated

8 New Choir committee were elected to help the functioning of the choir. The function started with opening prayer, singing session and followed by competitions. There was enthusiastic participation from the members. The Quiz master was Bro Linu and Bro Sam. C. A. Easow from Chakan Marthoma mission. He spoke about relationships. 2 Kings 5:1-14. How a slave girl had the relationship with her mistress and how the relationship changed Naaman s life. After lunch we had the business session. In the business session the annual report was presented by Secretary Mrs. J Jose. The report was proposed by Mrs. Annama Issac and passed by Mrs. Anna Chandy. During the business session we discussed the year plan and discussed various issues how we can effectively work for the coming year. Certain resolutions were taken and the meeting closed after tea and prayer. The Women s Fellowship Sunday was celebrated in Kirkee. The members took part in various assignments for the conduct of the worship. The sermon was delivered by Mrs. Ananda Betsi A., she took lot of effort to prepare the message and very prayerfully the message was given. We praise God for their active participation and also thank for their contribution towards the church. On Women Sunday Vanchika Samaparam was conducted. Once again praising God for the abundant blessings we received throughout this year. I sincerely thank Achan and Kochamma for their leadership and guidance, UBS students especially Bro. Linu and Bro. Sam for conducting the competitions for the anniversary and also all the members for their participation and cooperation for all the programmes conducted throughout the year. Also thanking Lord for his parents who nurtured and offered their child for this Divine Ministry. Also the Church extent s gratitude towards him for the services rendered to us. 9 CHURCH PICNIC The Managing Committee of the Parish has decided to have a two day Picnic at Panchgani on 28th and 29th April, Panchgini is a famous Hill station, known for its scenic beauty. During the British Raj period they used it as a Summer Resort, so let us take this opportunity to beat the heat by exploring this place. You will be knowing that these trips requires few logistics to be put, therefore, please your names to Mr. Mathew Koshy Tharian (Bobby) or Mr. Joel Jose on or before 15th April, Requesting a maximum participation from our members. Lord, help us to live in the gladness and grace every day. Let us have hearts of thankfulness For your sacrifice. Let us have eyes that look upon Your grace and rejoice in our salvation.
