We have gotten some nice showers and we have been showered greatly with blessings from God. As we finished up the month of April, we had a great Resurrection Celebration with all of the Saints of God here at St Peter. Many beautiful blooms and flowers were on display in our Sanctuary and Narthex. Now we are in May will we see other flowers outside of the Sanctuary? They aren t all big beautiful blooms that stand out like the wildflowers on the side of the road, some are a little harder to spot and some are only beginning to bud out. When we participate in building ramps with the Texas Ramp Project, little buds appear. When we support and encourage our Midweek Program, many more little buds appear, not just in the children, but in the teachers and all of the other volunteers. We plant seeds each time our Sunday School teachers teach a lesson and any other time that we tell a child or adult who Jesus is and what He has done for them and the world. Sometimes those buds bloom out grandly; proclaiming the name of Christ to the world, but other times, the blooms are delayed and maybe a bit smaller. However, that doesn t make the blooms any less grand. The Monday after Easter I was walking around the field at my in-laws farm. There were these tiny little purple flowers. I have no clue what kind of plant or weed they were, but those little purple flowers, no bigger than a pencil eraser, were

2 The Key to St. Peter Page 2 perfectly formed and downright beautiful. The majority of people would probably overlook them, but I saw and appreciated them. God notices all of the seeds, sprouted and growing. He notices the budding potential and all of the blooms; whether great or small. No bloom goes unnoticed nor unappreciated because God has a plan for all of His children. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (ESV) There are many opportunities to till God s garden. Midweek School will be ending soon but there is Vacation Bible School that we are preparing for which will give us a week long opportunity. Keep an eye open. We are going to try and build one ramp a month so there is an opportunity to serve as well as many other things coming up. You never know what opportunity may arise for you to be a part of a little tiny bud that will burst into bloom. Keep your eyes open for the chance to serve! We often we overlook the flowers that God allows to grow in our lives because we are looking at other things or because sometimes we are simply to busy to stop and smell them. In the Love of Christ! Pastor K. We welcome Phifer Jay Lewis, son of Keelan (Anderson) and Kyle Lewis, into God s family through the washing of Holy Baptism. Phifer became a child of God on Easter Sunday at his home congregation in Olney. We congratulate grandparents Arn and Belinda Anderson on this wonderful occasion. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CONFIRMANDS On May 7, Sarah Horton and Cooper Hammer will renew the Baptismal covenant they made with God at their Baptism and step into the realm of full communicant membership. We are so proud of these two fine young people and look forward to their participation in the Lord s supper as well as all that we do as a congregation.

3 The Key to St. Peter Page 3 DON T FORGET YOUR GARDENS Thanks to the gardeners that made our property look so pretty for Easter. Lets keep it up through the summer! The weeds don t take a vacation! New Directory Photos We will be taking photos for our new church directory on May 11, 12, and 13. A friend of the congregation, Bill King, has volunteered his time to set up and take professional photos of all of the members of our congregation. We will set up in the classrooms much as we have done in the past and Bill will gladly take any pictures and poses that you would like in addition to the picture that will be used in the directory. If you have an extended family photo that you would like taken, let him know and he would be happy to accommodate your wishes. Bill will not be selling any prints of the pictures. All of your poses will be burned onto a CD. Pictures can be printed at Walmart or CVS. He is retired and has done semi-professional photography for a number of years. He has numerous years of experience with weddings and other photographic venues. Bill will not be charging us anything for this service. He has worshipped with us several times and wants to do this as a service to God and His people. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Please sign your family up in one of the slots and put the number down that would be in your group. If you cannot make it on the days listed, there will be a make-up day set at a later date. Please let us know.

6 The Key to St. Peter Page 6 Congratulations once again to Rhett Robinson, granddaughter of Viola and Ed Robinson. Her unbelievable volleyball skills took her and her team from Krum to the National Tournament in Dallas last weekend where they achieved 12 th in the Silver A bracket in NATIONALS! And Rhett, as a junior, was nominated for the All- Tournament Team! Sister Reese is on her way down the same road, playing on the All Select team in Krum. She is a freshman, providing Ed and Viola with a few more years of travel to volleyball games! Way to go girls!!! LWML STAMP PROGRAM Thanks to all who help with the LWML cancelled stamp program. These stamps that would end up in the trash mean several thousands of dollars to the Texas District LWML. The stamps are sold to dealers who put together sets of stamps for collectors. The stamps are sold by the pound. We are allowed to leave one-fourth inch border around the stamps. This adds considerably to the weight. If you save stamps, please leave that one fourth inch border if you trim them. If you don t want to trim the stamps, our ladies will be glad to do it. Just please leave enough for us to leave the border. This project has been going on for several years. The first stamps helped to furnish apartments that missionary families use when they come home to visit. The LWML is a very active group that gives women an opportunity to join Lutheran women nationally in accomplishing projects that we could not do alone. We experience spiritual growth through our Bible centered programs and Christian fellowship through our projects and our meetings. LWML meets every second Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.. We would be happy to share our blessing with you.
