Lord God, you are the Source of all love, You bless us with relationships to enrich our lives and give us joy. Today we thank and praise you for the gift of our families; Thank you for our spouse, parents, brothers and sisters, grandmas and grandpas, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Forgive us when we act in ways which hurt those we love, Forgive our failures and heal our fractured families. By your Holy Spirit, empower us to forgive as we have been forgiven. Renew our desire to live in harmony, love, and encouragement. As we follow you in faith, tune our ears to hear your voice; For you have called us to serve all people in love, beginning with our families. Amen. Prayer of the Day: Father God, how beautiful to know that you call us your children. Knowing that we belong to your family, bring harmony and joy to our households. May our homes be lights shining as signs of your kingdom in this world. Instead of demanding our rights, teach us to serve one another and cherish our relationships. 4 Lesson 1 - Deuteronomy 6:1-9 1 These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3 Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, promised you. 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Lesson 2 - Ephesians 5:21-6:4 21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church 30for we are members of his body. 31 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. 32 This is a profound mystery but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

When couples marry, do they think about God s calling in the relationship? 4. What are the symptoms of a disfunctional family? 5. What does it mean to be a Christian family? 6. How do we invite Jesus to be in our homes and impact our daily lives? 7. When was the last time you thanked God for your marriage and spouse, your children, your parents, your grandparents, your nephews and nieces? 8.
