6 Today s sermon text is from: Genesis 22:1-8 (NKJV) Abraham s Faith Confirmed 22 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! and he said, Here I am. 2 Then He said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. 3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. 5 And Abraham said to his young men, Stay here with the donkey; the lad [a] and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you. 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, My father! And he said, Here I am, my son. Then he said, Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering. So the two of them went together.
7 MT. DEW #1 - ABRAHAM & ISAAC (Genesis 22:1-8) When we feel the Holy Spirit rush in our lives we call these times MOUNTAIN TOP EXPERIENCES. Our face to face times with God aren t always the happiest times in our lives. Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham. (Gen. 22:1) Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall show you. (Gen. 22:2) Early the next morning - Abraham loaded up the donkey. BECAUSE I SAID SO! And Abraham could see the mountain in the distance. Every step he took must ve ripped his heart out a little more. And Abraham said to his young men, Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you. (Gen. 22:5) Obedience is the key to worshipping God! What s God calling YOU to do? Keep listening for that still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12)

10 Mount Oak Mission Ministry Jesus said to his followers, Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone. - Mark 16:15 New Century Version (NCV) The Kairos Inside Prison Ministry delivers the Good News into the prisons. What is Kairos Inside Prison Ministry? It is a ministry that takes a 3 day retreat, similar to Emmaus or Cursillo, inside a prison. The word Kairos means Gods special time and it truly is a time when the residents have a special encounter with Our Lord. There are many, many changed hearts at the end of the weekend, Praise the LORD!!!!! The Kairos retreat happens once every 6 months. Thirty or more godly men and women go into the prison (they do not stay there at night) and meet with 35 prisoners. The lists of residents who sign up for the retreat is usually double or triple the 35 that Kairos can accommodate. Our church members, Janet & Gary Greenip and Anne & Henry Koether have served many times over the years. The next 2 Kairos weekends are October (Women) and October 30 Nov 2 (Men). Janet will serve at the MCIW (Maryland Correctional Institute for Women): MCIW is the only state prison for women so it houses all women serving more than a one year sentence. Gary will serve on the MCI. Both facilities are located in Jessup, MD. It takes over $5000 to run each of these retreats and it falls to the volunteers who serve on a retreat team to raise the funds. It is with your support that we are able to go into the prisons and visit Jesus there as He asked us to do - Matthew 25:36. Thank you for caring, Janet & Gary Greenip What besides money can you contribute? Prayer, Posters & Placemats: details next week. For more information go to Kairos Websites and Thank you for your donations to the Food Pantry and No More Malaria Campaign. Harriette Thompson, Mission Chair heartstrings101@verizon.net
