The psalmist exhorts, Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. His funeral will be Monday, January 14th, at 10:30 am at St. Claire of Assissi Catholic Church located at Cotton Lane and Bell Road.

9 Pray for our home-bound members that they will be encouraged as they look to God for His blessings. Missions: Jon & Karen Glass, Poland Dear praying friends and family- In other news, Tim and Claire Petersen recently visited us. You may recognize his name or at least his last name. He is the son of our good friends Mike and Becky Petersen up north in Jozefow and Otwock. He is here on a short-term basis to get some language refreshment for himself and a fair bit of language learning for Claire as well as to help his parents. When they finish their stint here, they will go back, raise support and return full-time. They visited to pick our brains, but I asked him to preach in our church. I thought it would be good for him (but not necessarily easy). (can I put an evil grin there?) And honestly, he was definitely in the fire! We had a visitor who came just to get his point across that God can't exist since there is so much evil in this world. Tim handled himself with aplomb, and we kindly escorted the young man off the property. If you can, please pray for Tim and Claire, as they work here, and must make many important decisions for the future. Oh, and lastly, I have some thoughts about something, but honestly, I would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and open doors. But we also need your prayers for

10 wisdom in dealing with the many little "fires" that are burning at this time. It feels like there are lots of things attempting to drag various people down, that may seem small, but are honestly not so difficult to understand nor to know how to work through them (for the people living through it, and who may not be willing to listen to any input.) CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION SET TO RISE SHARPLY IN 2019, GROUP WARNS According to the watchdog organization Open Doors USA, Christian persecution is growing globally. It's estimated that more than 245 million Christians now experience high, very high, or extreme persecution an increase from 215 million in 2018, a 14 percent rise. At

11 the annual release of its World Watch List for 2018, one of the trends highlighted is that women are a huge target. "The data prove that Christian women are the most exploited group on the earth today," said David Curry, president of Open Doors. In many places they experience a "double persecution" one for being a woman, the other for being Christian. Every year, Open Doors USA, a bi-partisan grassroots organization, releases a list of the top 50 countries where it is most dangerous to be a Christian. Eight of the top 10 Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Pakistan, Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen, and Iran are Muslim majority countries where radical Islam is still alive and well, particularly in Sub Saharan Africa. World, National, and State Concerns We need to be diligent in our prayers about the unrest in our nation that is causing great division across the country. Pray for a return to civility in relationships within this great land. Pray that hate and violence will be stopped. Pray for President Donald Trump as he continues his four-year term of office. These are critical days for our nation. Pray earnestly for a revival in this land, that Christians will boldly take a stand for their Christian beliefs. Pray that those who are attempting to impose restrictions on

12 us that are contrary to the Law of God would be stopped. Pray for our National and State legislators. Pray for the congress as they deal with critical issues facing our nation. Pray for all those who are in leadership over the political matters facing our national, state, and local governments. Pray for the members of the courts around the country as they deliberate on matters of importance to our nation s wellbeing. Pray for those in Law Enforcement throughout the country. Pray for God s intervention to stop the constant attacks against police and those charged with keeping law and order. Pray for protection of our troops as they serve around the world to keep and maintain peace. Pray for wisdom for those who provide leadership for military operations. Pray for God s direction in the U.S. involvement in the Middle East and specifically Israel. Pray for our president, our legislators, and military officials who are involved in making decisions regarding Israel. Pray about the relations between the United States and Israel. Do not cease to pray for peace around the world.
