Legault Parish Stewardship of Treasure Weekend of June 9 th & 10 th...$8, Children s Collection 2.25 Helping Hands for the Poor Total...$8, Ezekiel 17: Recurrent in so many Old Testament prophecies is the theme of a small remnant from the bulk of corruption being saved and becoming the basis of hope. In many cases the hope is centered on just one person, under whose leadership the people would be restored to good and lasting harmony with their creator. Here, Ezekiel foretells the coming of the Messiah who will spring as one small shoot from the royal family tree of King David, and flourish to provide safety and shelter for many. 2 Corinthians 5: 6-10 Paul speaks here as one who has made his home in the shade and shelter of his lord. He has no fear of death, as that will not bring separation from the one he loves and his joy at pleasing Christ will not change, whether he remains in his body or out of it. As professing Christians, one attitude to death is fundamental in our witness to others. It must differ radically from that of anyone who reckons death to be the end of personal existence. If in the face of approaching death (our own or that of a loved one) we find our faith challenged, or weaker than we thought it was, it may help to retrace our steps to faith, rather like running our hands over a favorite, familiar piece of furniture or musical instrument. Work slowly and imaginatively through the Creed, remembering how the whole universe was made by God. Think of what you could see through a telescope and a microscope as well as with the naked eye. Having recalled the power and wonder of God, think about the life of Jesus until you are able to say with Peter, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Mark 4: The Kingdom of heaven is busy growing quietly, now in many, many people throughout the whole world. It is an exciting thought! Sometimes in our impatience, we make a renewed commitment one day and expect to find a full grown, fruiting tree by the next morning; but like so many things in our existence, the material is a reflection of the spiritual, and growth never works like that except in Jack and the beanstalk. It is the steady, persevering, habitual leaning toward God that makes for strong spiritual growth. The taller we grow, the more welcome shade and shelter we can provide both individually and as part of a strong and vigorous Church, nourished with the life of Christ.

3 ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 2018 CATHOLIC CHARITY APPEAL Update As of June 11th, we have collected $100,714.12, ONLY $2, shy of our goal of $103,300. If you have not yet made a donation, please consider doing so. Thank you for your support for this once a year appeal for the needy of Rhode Island. May God continue to move hearts, and bless our parish. Prayer for Graduates Heavenly Father, You watched your own Child grow and pass each stage on His way to adulthood. When He accepted Baptism, You praised Him, saying You were well pleased. When He accepted His trials, You comforted and raised Him up. Grant that those who finish this step in their journey through life will have the wisdom, courage, and grace of your Son. And help us to show each day how well pleased we are with our own beloved graduates. Amen.
