2 A Message From Pastor Milton Today is Trinity Sunday. Today we are also celebrating baptisms that have taken place across the parish during the past twelve months. Today is also an opportunity to reflect on how the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives and in the lives of all baptized believers. I was baptized when I was only two weeks old. Whilst I don t remember the actual event, the benefits of baptism have changed my life forever. I know that I am a forgiven sinner. I know that I am safe from those evil forces that could separate me from God and his great love for me. I know that I am living in the presence of God here on this earth and I look forward to living with God in eternity. I know that I am a child of God. I know that the Holy Spirit lives within me continually nurturing and recreating me. I also know that God is at work in your lives as much as he is at work in my life. I pray that you and I will recapture the excitement associated with knowing that we are baptized believers. That we will thank God for the gift of baptism. 4 Happenings in our Parish Baptisms At St John s 9.30am service this morning, we welcome into God s family through Holy Baptism, Elissa Leigh Rose KILPATRICK (born 29/01/2014) daughter of Chloe KIRCHNER and Luke KILPATRICK. Godparents are Katie and Matthew O Keefe, Matt Nissan and Emma Kirchner. Also this morning, at Grace, we welcome into God s family through Holy Baptism, Sylvana Reine LOCKWOOD (born 20/06/2013) daughter of Amanda LOCKWOOD and Aleksey REMINGTON. Godparents are Dallas Plummer, Marcia Banks and Tamara Price. Welcome We welcome Pr John O Keefe to lead us in worship at St John s 9.30am service this morning and to conduct the baptism of Elissa Kilpatrick. We also welcome all visitors and guests this morning. Generation Christ Service Bethany 5pm tonight! Guest Speaker Sean Conry Chaplain, Good News - Winning Spiritual Diet Book Stall Small Group Ministry have organised for a book stall to continue over the next month. Pastor Ben has kindly selected a lovely range of books, DVD's, music CD's, small group material, cards for birthdays etc. Please have a look. There may be something you'd like to purchase. Payments can be made via our collectors across the Parish; Bethany Betty Taylor, Grace Marie Canfell and St John s Norelle Behrendorff. Unfortunately Evan Draheim has injured his back and will not be available to collect payments. Alternatively you may wish to place a clearly marked envelope on the offering plate or in person at Parish House. Also, if you are paying direct either by cheque, credit card or online please advise your collector or the parish office. 4

God s Pantry (Parish Food Pantry Ministry) You may not know, but the Parish helps people within our Ipswich Community when they are in need by distributing food parcels, largely with thanks to the

5 God s Pantry (Parish Food Pantry Ministry) You may not know, but the Parish helps people within our Ipswich Community when they are in need by distributing food parcels, largely with thanks to the donations made by many of you. But we would love your help to be able to further this ministry. In your bulletin you will find a flyer with the items that we pack into each food parcel we give to families in need. At the back of your church from NEXT week (and every week thereafter) you will find a basket where you can put these items that will be taken up to the altar during the offering and then transported to parish house. To make it easy for you, the bulletin flyer can just stick on your fridge (magnet is included) so that next time you are out shopping, you might think of just adding an extra can/pack to your list. We thank you for continuing to enable this ministry to continue to those who need it most. Homeless Packs Homeless Packs consist of a variety of items and food that should enable someone to live on the street for a few days. With careful planning and shopping we have established a list of essential items at minimum cost. The total cost including a good quality backpack and food is approximately $100. It needs to be easy to carry and compact. Therefore we suggest that if you wish to contribute to this ministry, please make a cash donation. Baby Packs Baby Packs consist of some essential items for care of a baby and placed in a small cooler bag. Cost of these packs is approximately $20. We are often asked for nappies so we would also like to include these with the Baby Pack. If you would like to contribute to this ministry you could purchase disposable nappies for crawlers or toddlers. 5

Funeral Notice Ruth Elfriede Schmidt was called home on Sunday 8 th June. Her funeral service will be held at St John s on Monday, 16 th June at 10.00am. Rev David Stolz will conduct the service. 8 Happenings in LYQ Deep & Wide (Insight into young and adult ministry). Young adults aged are the least represented age group in our church. Toward the end of 2013 Lutheran Youth of Queensland undertook a major research project to measure the engagement of young adults in the LCAQD and to identify drivers for effective young adult ministry. There will be a series of one day seminars, with the first one scheduled for June 21 st at Bethany Lutheran Church, Raceview, where the findings of this research will be presented to help local congregations explore practical ways to create church community that helps young adults flourish in an age of uncertainty. Brochures for this seminar are located on the information table at the rear of the church. 10 Prayer Corner Church Prayer Time A time of prayer is held at Bethany every Sunday at 8.30am. Any and all are welcome to join in with these prayer times. Prayer Points for the church, that it may always live a life of faith for our nation's leaders - the Queen, her representatives, the parliaments, the prime minister and cabinet, and departments, the opposition and the whole system of government for human rights and justice, people and organisations that work for these, racial harmony for women in childbirth, pregnant women, young parents, those who have experienced miscarriage, single parents, unborn children, women who have had an abortion (and family and friends affected by this). Care Slip & General Parish Prayer Requests Lord be with us always in all situations, thank you. Thanks to God for sending the Holy Spirit. The many ill and infirm in our Parish - for comfort and / or healing as God sees fit.
