Yet, good Lord, have mercy on us, restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to us in Jesus Christ our Lord. And grant, merciful Father, for his sake, that we may live godly, righteous, and sober lives to the glory of your holy name. Amen. My heart and flesh may fail, the earth below give way; But with my eyes, with my eyes I ll see the Lord Lifted high on that day: Behold, the Lamb that was slain! And I ll know every tear was worth it all. Though tonight I m crying out: Let this cup pass from me now, You re still all that I need, You re enough for me, You re enough for me. Sing a song to the One who s all I need, sing a song to the One who s all I need.

4 INTERCESSORY PRAYER Sermon Notes OFFERING Please place visitor cards in the offering plate SCRIPTURE READING Romans 12:1-2 SERMON Dependence Day Justin Huston COMMUNION SONG Lead Me To The Cross TEXT & MUSIC: Brook Fraser/Hillsong, 2007 Savior, I come, quiet my soul. Remember Redemption s hill, where Your blood was spilled for my ransom. Everything I once held dear, I count it all as loss. Lead me to the cross, where Your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down. Rid me of myself, I belong to You. Lead me, lead me to the cross. You were as I, tempted and tried, human. The Word became flesh, bore my sin and death, now You re risen. Everything I once held dear, I count it all as lost. Lead me to the cross, where Your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down. Rid me of myself, I belong to You. Lead me, lead me to the cross. CONFESSION OF FAITH The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen COMMUNION

5 Pray for our Missionaries Last Sunday we prayed for Johan and Stephanie van der Westhuizen, our missionaries in Chile with Mission to the World. They had to take a whirlwind trip to South Africa to be at Johan s mother s bedside for what they though were her last days. The following arrived from Johan on Monday. Thank you to everyone for all the prayers, love, well wishes and concerns expressed to Stephanie and myself these last few weeks. When we arrived in Durban we were rushed straight to hospital to see my mom. Many thought we were too late to see her alive. The doctors told us her prognosis is not good. Due to emergency measures taken, blood in her body was rushed to her essential organs, causing a deficiency in he extremities, chasing her fingers to turn black and finally gangrene set in. We did not know what to expect from one day to the next. We had up days and plenty of down days. The doctors said our being here was crucial. Many people were praying around the world. CLOSING SONG Redeemed, Restored, Forgiven TEXT: Henry W. Baker, 1876 MUSIC: Matthew Smith, 2010 Once on a dreary mountain We wandered far and wide, Far from the cleansing fountain, Far from the pierced side. But Jesus sought and found us And washed our guilt away; With cords of love He bound us To be His own today. Redeemed, restored, forgiven Through Jesus precious blood, Heirs of His home in heaven, Oh, praise our pardoning God! Dear Lord, receive the glory Of each recovered soul, Oh, who can tell the story Of love that made us whole? Not ours, not ours, the merit; Be Yours alone the praise And ours a thankful spirit To serve You all our days. Now keep us, holy Savior, In Your true love and fear And grant us by Your favor The grace to persevere, Till in Your new creation, When Earth meets Heaven s shore, We find our full salvation And praise You evermore. Last week she had several of he digits cut off I had to learn that that did not mean any math but the tips of her fingers! On three distinct occasions we thought we had said our final farewell. Once she during a fit of spasms and cramps once again fell unconscious and no one knew I she would wake up again. Everything said and done and to the whole hospital staff's disbelief mom has recuperated so well that she is returning back to the retirement home tomorrow. S he still does not have the use of her legs and lost the tips of several fingers, but she has been in hospital 5 weeks and wants to get out of there! BENEDICTION The Apostles Creed in its present form comes from the eighth century but older forms were used in the very early church. It is called the Apostles Creed, not because the Apostles wrote it, but because it summarizes their teaching. Catholic means one, only, true, and universal. We are planning our return back to Chile next week. It has been an exhausting time for us and we are SO grateful for those who have stood with us during this time. Thank you very much. Together for Jesus Johan

Summer Opportunity Once again you will have the opportunity to live out the commitment you make when a covenant child is baptized at Christ Covenant. This summer we will again give our current Children s Sunday School teachers a well-deserved break. This also gives you a great opportunity to get to know some of the Covenant children. It won t take much of your time and if everyone participates, it will just be one or two Sundays during the SS hour. You will have two youth helpers to assist you with your class. There needs to be two adults in each class each Sunday. Sign up sheets for each class will be in the Narthex starting today, Sunday May 14th. Please take the time to look over your Summer schedule and see how you can serve. Summer Sunday School begins June 4th. If you have any questions, please see me.
