2 December P.A.C.K. Thank You. The following thank you note was received in response to Pilgrim s December stuffed animal give away. I wanted your members to know what a blessing it was to receive two animals at the grocery store, for my grandchildren for Christmas. It was a surprise indeed and I was truly blessed. My husband passed away this year and my sadness comes in waves, and on the day that I received this gift was another hard morning of tears for me. It made me smile and brought joy to my day. I am also on a limited budget since he passed and to be able to have an additional toy for my two little angels was indeed another blessing. Wishing you all a very blessed Christmas. Thank you for ministering for Jesus! Pilgrim s 13th Annual School Dinner Auction will take place on Friday, February 15th at The Rock Garden, 1951 Bond Street, Green Bay. Doors will open at 4:30 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm. The live auction will follow dinner. Early bird pricing is $40 per person or $300 for a reserved table of 8 through January 4th. On January 5th through the 31st, the ticket price increases to $45 per person or $340 for a table of 8. After January 31st, all tickets will be $50. The tickets may be purchased on before/after Advent services on Wednesdays, or in the Pilgrim Office. Consider being a sponsor or donating an item by visiting the auction tab on Pilgrim s website. Financial Peace University We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more! FPU classes will meet for 1 hour each Wednesday for 9 weeks. The class begins on Wednesday, January 9th from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Green Bay site in the Church Library. You can register for the class at Free child care provided. Please invite others to check out our school also. Men s Ministry Breakfast will be on January 19th at 7:30 am. At 8:00 am, Gene Fielder will present What They didn t teach you in Sunday School and at 9:00 am, Mark Hein will present Don t Worry, Retire Happy. There will be a video of the same name by Tom Hegna and the first 20 to RSVP to Mark Hein at mfhein50@gmail.com will receive the book of the same title. Serve at St. John's Homeless Shelter Pilgrim is preparing for our 2nd year of serving at St. John s Homeless Shelter. You will be contacted with details regarding dates and service once you sign up. We will send groups on Saturday evenings throughout the season. We will assist in the following ways: checking in guests, assisting with laundry and 2

3 phone charging, and sharing supper with the guests while offering positive interaction with a Gospel emphasis. Please prayerfully consider joining our Homeless Shelter Ministry. Sunday Youth Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 am. This will be a half hour bible study in the Old Testament. We hope to see all youth 7th-12th grade there! Confirmation Student Update Reports will be available for parents at the end of each quarter of study. Please check your church mailbox for your update report. MISSIONS COINS FOR CHRIST: Concordia Seminary preparing pastors, missionaries & deaconesses to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel. This is our mission emphasis for December. Now in its 180 th academic year, Concordia Seminary has provided more than 12,500 professional workers for the church. With many pastoral vacancies in our churches today, the need for recruitment is great. Please encourage God-fearing young men (sons, grandsons, friends) to embrace the ministry as a career. By your gifts (coins, special envelopes or electronic giving) you also can be a blessing to our church for years to come. 4 PILGRIM S MINISTRIES Coed volleyball at Pilgrim meets every week on Sunday nights in the Pilgrim gym. If you are over 18 and would like to play, a signup sheet is at the Welcome Center. For more information, please contact Mark or Kayla Osterberg at GriefShare Mondays at 6:30 pm in Conference Room. GriefShare is a Bible-based program for anyone who has lost a loved one to death. We meet for 13 consecutive Mondays from 6:30-8:30 pm. January 14th is the start of the next session. Any questions please contact the Ministry Office or Linda Siegmann at Ministry Action Teams Need You! Just as the Bible teaches that all Christians are an important part of the body of Christ, we as members of this congregation all have a part on the Pilgrim ministry team. To help you find your ministry niche we ve created a multitude of Ministry Action Teams. For the month of January we are highlighting these teams as a possibility for your involvement. 13th Annual School Auction - This year the auction will be held on Friday, February 15th. Volunteers are needed for various tasks before, during and after the event. See sign up sheet for various tasks. Donations are also being accepted. (See brochure for ideas.) School families - your time may be used toward your 10 school volunteer hours. Please visit the Welcome Center to fill out a background form and a volunteer sheet and return them to the Welcome Center or Rebekah Schumacher (Director of Youth & Family Ministries). You will then be contacted with details regarding dates and finalization of paper work. We will send groups on Saturday evenings throughout the season to serve at St. John's as requested from the Shelter. Bible Studies - A wide variety of Bible Studies are available; various days and times. Sign up sheets for these Ministry Action Teams may be found at the Welcome Center. 7 Fourth Sunday in Advent Luke 1:46-55 Stewardship Can you imagine how Mary, mother of Jesus, felt when she was told that she would carry and give birth to the Son of God, the Messiah? There have been many musical settings of this portion of scripture - the Magnificat. Powerful, poetic praise to God! Awesome fulfillment of the promise to Abraham and his descendants! Of the many uses of gifts to be given to a woman, this has to be the greatest! And her passionate response to this gift is expressed here: My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior What an example of humility and service in the presence of awesome news! Think about it! Micah s oracle (Micah 5:2) likewise confirms that the Lord loves little ones, and Hebrews 10:10 explains that the infant Immanuel consecrates us all so sacred and special to God.
