4 Coming Events & Reminders THIS WEEK Office Closed Our office will be closed Monday, January 1st. Prayer Fast Our Deacons are sponsoring a 40 Days of Fasting and Prayer starting January 1st. Everyone s encouraged to participate! We re looking for at least one person per day to volunteer to fast and pray for 24 hours - your choice of how or what you want to fast. We ll be praying for our search team, our future pastor and his family, our pastoral staff, our ministry areas, and our congregation. To participate, please sign up in the lower auditorium. Winter Jam Students! Don t miss your chance to see lots of great Christian bands and artists for only $15! Invite your friends and join us on Saturday, January 6th, for Winter Jam. We ll meet at our church building at 3p and ride to Freedom Hall together. Please eat before you come (we won t stop for meals) and bring $15 admittance fee, plus enough money for food at the concert and if you want to buy any shirts or other items. You will also need a parent to sign a permission slip (forms are on the youth bulletin board across from the office.) Open to all 6th-12th graders. (Any adults interested in coming, please contact Randy at ) COMING SOON Ministry Updates & Church Business Please join us at our church business meeting in the lower auditorium Wednesday, January 17th at 7:30p for discussions and updates on our church s ministries. Pastoral Candidate Weekend Our Search Team has announced Randy Crutchfield as our candidate for senior pastor. On January 20th, everyone s invited to join Randy and the team from 2p -5p in the lower auditorium for a time to present your questions and get to know more about Randy and his vision for our church family. Randy will preach his trial sermon on Sunday, January 21st. After second service a vote will be held about calling Randy as our senior pastor. REMINDERS/NOTICES Year-End Giving Statements Coming soon - Your 2017 contribution statements will be available in the lower auditorium on January 14th. Any that are not picked up by January 28th will be mailed out on the 29th. If you have any questions or concerns about your statements, please contact Becky Burch ( ) or Johanna Johnson (johanna@madisonfbc.org). Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed. Guidelines for writing one are available outside our office.

5 Opportunities GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES House of Hope Offering After today s services we ll collect an offering at the sanctuary exits for the House of Hope food pantry. We also collect items for this ministry on an ongoing basis. They especially need canned fruit and vegetables. They also need boxes or bags of cereal, condiments, sugar, and other non-perishable food and hygiene items. Please avoid donating economy sizes. To donate, please drop off items in the lower auditorium. DUE TODAY! Retired Ministers & Missionaries During December you can thank ministers who have served around the world by donating to RMMO. Some of our own retired ministers, including Harold and Emogene Carter and Dennis Bickers receive a portion of this offering. To give, please use the envelopes in your pew, or designate gifts RMMO. Small Group Leaders Building off of last year s success, we re planning on holding several 10-week long small groups beginning January 21st and we re looking for people to facilitate some groups. You re welcome to suggest a topic, or ask Dennis for suggestions. We d love to have at least ten groups. To be part of this exciting opportunity, please write Small Group Leader on your communication card or contact our office at allstaff@madisonfbc.org or Homework Helpers Want to help a child? Come form a friendship with a K-4th grader at Lydia Middleton! There is a great need for younger children to learn sight words and older ones to learn multiplication tables. On January 9th, Homework Helpers will resume meeting from 2:45p-3:30p on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. If you d like to help, please sign up in the lower auditorium or write Homework Helpers on your communication card and the days you re available to help, or contact Nancy Totten at (812) Warm Shelter Help Needed During the cold weather we re joining other area churches to provide meals and a warm place to sleep for the homeless or those in need. We re looking for people to provide food, play games and spend time with the people who come, or to stay up all night to staff the warming station at the Salvation Army. Volunteers can take the whole night, or work in shifts. To help, contact Lt. Vinal Lee at Drivers Needed We re looking for responsible drivers willing to be on call to help us provide transportation to people who need rides to attend our services. If you re willing to help, please write Transportation on your communication card, or contact Keith Chilton ( ) Ulster Project Counselor Position Are you over 21 and looking for an incredibly rewarding job this summer?
