Third Street Delphos, OH Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-Noon & 1-5PM Website: delphostrinity.org Like us on Facebook! Hello, church family - Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is all I can say. The ways in which you have jumped into our recent study have been amazing. At last count we had eight different adult groups meeting throughout the week with a total average attendance of 50. And, I know that there are a number of you working through the book on your own. As awesome as that is, the truly inspiring part to me is that individuals are being set free by God s power as they live into these practices of the faith. I have had the privilege of hearing great testimonies of how God has helped people to forgive, relinquish, and praise Him regardless of the circumstances. We will conclude the series as we work through Lament for the first two Sundays of November. I know most of the groups will meet, work through the two additional lessons in the material together, and carry on after that. I would encourage you that it is not too late to join a group now or after the first of the year. When done well, this is a great experience that helps us keep moving forward in our spiritual journey. These are not gossip sessions, but a chance for each person to share their own story and connect with others in the church. So often, I hear I have known them a long time and had no idea that this was going on in their life. It s quite simple, really. It s a principle part of discipleship called intentional relationship. We cannot help people grow in their faith without connecting to each other in relationship. We don t get beyond the surface relationship is we are not intentional about sharing our thoughts in discussion and being open about who we really are. How will we practice forgiveness if not with other people? How will we practice praise if not being held to account by others who hear our grumbling? How will we learn spiritual truths if we are not searching out the answers from reliable sources? How will we value the church if not connected to those that make up the church? In short order, the holiday season will be upon us Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. These are times often filled with many celebrations and get-togethers. Please, take the opportunity to connect with your family, friends, neighbors, and church family beyond the surface level. Invite someone to dinner at your home or lunch after church. Initiate a spiritual conversation about what God is doing in your life. Offer to pray for them right then (not when you get home). Use a topic from the book we have been studying, something else you have read, or a sermon to spur on a discussion. And remember this point what you think isn t nearly as important as what you do. I ve found it much more effective to leave the debate of ideas aside, and focus on what I can do to demonstrate God s love to someone else. Food for thought - Pastor Rich

2 Page 2 Delphos Trinity Newsletter November 2017 November Mission Feature Delphos Inter-Faith Thrift Shop & Food Pantry God has truly blessed the Delphos Inter-Faith Thrift Shop with not only a passion to help those in need, but also with a generous community that gives it s support through continuous donations and volunteer help. For nearly four decades, the Inter-Faith Thrift Shop has been providing assistance for thousands of people in the community. With the current economic conditions, layoffs, and business closings in the area, the need for help has grown tremendously. Through the love and efforts of it s volunteers, the shop has been able to help with food, clothing, medicine, rent, utilities, transportation, and other living expenses. The shop has also been able to help support many local events, including the Habitat for Humanity Houses, the Community Christmas Projects, the Kiwanis playground equipment drive, and many others. Originally, the shop was opened in 1971 to help the migrant workers who came to live and work in the area. When the workers moved on, the shop was closed. However, after realizing there was still a great need within our area, women from various churches in town got together and re-opened the store in 1978 under the name of the Church Women United Thrift Shop. This shop was in the same location as the current Inter-Thrift Shop.on the corner of First and Main Streets. A toy store was opened, in As the need for help grew, it was realized a bigger store was needed. Through the generous donations of the community, and hard work of the volunteers, the Thrift Shop had prayers answered. The old store was demolished and a larger, more functional store opened in June, It no longer needed two stores.clothes, toys, house-wares, a food pantry, and even a boutique area could all be housed in the new building. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of the community....not only in donating items, but also for shopping at the store to help generate the money that helps to help others. Everyone working at the Thrift Shop feels blessed with the tremendous response from people in our community and outlying areas. It is only through this generosity that continuous help can be given to so many. Your donations of non-perishable food items, paper goods, and toiletries allow them to replenish their pantry shelves. Please place your donations in the tub with the display in Fellowship Hall throughout November. **Please check dates on items to make sure they haven t expired!!! -Missions Committee Scriptures and Sermon Titles for November November 5th Lament, Part 1 Psalm 77 November 12th Lament, Part 2 Lamentations 3:1-25 November 19th Teens For Christ Ministry Team will lead both services November 26th Thanksgiving 1 Chronicles 16:8-36

Many people in the community listen to the program - shut-ins, people traveling, or those home sick and are grateful that this ministry exists. It is a way for them to feel connected to the church when they can't be physically present. Our radio spot costs $45 per week. If you would like to sponsor a week, we will record a special recognition of your choosing for the week you sponsor. There is a sign-up chart in the fellowship hall for available dates.

4 Page 4 Trinity Times November 2017 Dear Tender Times Families and Friends, The school year is in full swing and lots of exciting things are happening here! We have started our new Phonics program in the Pre-K and it s a real hit with the students. The Pre School and Toddler classes have been learning about community helpers and transportation. We want to send a big thank you to Firefighters Zach and Jordan who visited us to begin our Fire prevention and fire safety week. We appreciate the Delphos Fire Department and their continued outreach to the community. The students will be learning about Thanksgiving and the many blessings it brings during the month of November. Special songs and music from Miss Beth and visits from the library will also be centered on Thanksgiving. We also want to thank the many of you for your continued donations to Tender Times. We were able to purchase much needed new music for each of the classrooms. Individuals have also donated supplies and equipment that facilitate the staff in providing quality learning experiences. We cannot express our gratitude enough. A Christmas program will be at 6:30 p.m. the evening of December 14th. Mark your calendars and come support these little ones in their performance. We are very pleased with the strides the students are making this year and are looking forward to continued success. Blessings to all of you and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
