Faithful, regular Sunday attendance at St. Paul s. Working, praying and giving for spread of the Kingdom. Support our church by financial pledging. Attend monthly vestry meetings. Chair one of the committees of the church (Outreach, Christian Education, Building & Grounds, Finance, Evangelism, Parish Life, Worship, Youth, Pastoral Care). Meet on monthly basis with your committee. What is a pledge? A. A pledge is A commitment to dedicate (consecrate) a certain portion of your income to the church for the work of Christ It is a faith statement. Q.Why should I pledge? A. God made us to give. We are happier when we give. Your pledge Allows you to be prayerful and intentional about your financial giving Allows you to plan ahead Allows you to take a further step as a living, breathing part of God s work through St. Paul s. Q.What does my pledge do for St. Paul s? A. Your pledge Allows St. Paul s to be intentional And to plan ahead for the work of Christ Thanks for your consideration and generosity. Finance Committee EYC Our youth this past Saturday traveled to Howl-O- Scream at Busch Gardens. It was a fun day of riding rides and going through haunted houses. I, personally, do not enjoy scary things, but the youth had a ball! Thank you to Jim and Jennifer Cranford for chaperoning! On Sunday evening we followed up our day of scares by talking about FEAR. Fear is an emotion that we all deal with. There are many scriptures that talk about Ryan Tunney at Busch Gardens how to handle fear. Psalm 23:4, Psalm 27:1, Psalm 34:4, Isaiah 41:10 are some that we talked about. Psalm 34:4 tells us I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. When we seek the Lord he promises to deliver us from our fears. We often seek after other things to help us with our fears, but those things don t come close to helping us like the Lord can. He can completely deliver us! Join the youth and I this week as we seek the Lord by memorizing Psalm 34:4. 3 Christian Education Corner Calling all parents!! KIDS EAT FREE!! Bring your family to Sunday school and enjoy FREE BREAKFAST for all children including middle & high school students. BREAKFAST IS SERVED 9:00-9:30 AM NURSERY 9:30 AM SUNDAY SCHOOL 9:45-10:45 AM We have classes for all ages 3-100! Our Christmas Pageant is December 15 at the 11 A.M. Service Practice begins this week! A Bible verse to learn and believe: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

4 Let us tell the world about this Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was the chief tax collector, and he was rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was short of stature. So he ran and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him for He was going to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him (Zacchaeus), and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house. So he made haste and came down, and received Him (Jesus) joyfully. Luke 19:1-6 Don t we enjoy this story! It just gets better! Zacchaeus becomes a new man because of Jesus presence in his life. Zacchaeus states he will give half of his good to the poor, and if he has taken anything from anyone by false accusation, he will pay the victim four times over the value! At the end of His visit with Zacchaeus, Jesus tells him that He has come as the Son of Man to seek and to save those who are lost! Luke 19:8,9 This news was not just for Zacchaeus, it is for us! Let us climb our sycamore tree to see Jesus and joyfully invite Him to come into our house (lives). Jesus saves!! Let us tell the world about This! 5 A great big THANK YOU to all the Angels in the Kitchen who came to cook on Monday. We had a record breaking show of chefs and cooked over 30 casseroles for the Food Fair. That's a lot of casseroles!!! Thank you one and all who helped and those who came by and gave moral support. And a big Thank You to Regan Coxe who made 17 pans of ham biscuits. Quite literally, we could not do it without you. Pastoral Care EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN NOTES EVERY WOMAN OF ST. PAUL S IS A MEMBER OF ECW WELCOME FATHER REED We join with all the parishioners in welcoming Father Reed to St. Paul s. We look forward to his guidance, counsel, and ministry and we take his words to heart about praying more than ever through this time of change and transition. We are reminded by Matthew that our Father knows what we need before we ask Him, and we are told: Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial,but rescue us from the evil one. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses HOSTING THE GARDEN CLUB LUNCH Tuesday November 5, A note to all who have volunteered to help: I will be contacting everyone by or telephone, as a reminder and to let everyone know what time to arrive to help. FOOD FAIR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2013, 5:00 PM TO 7:00 PM Our Annual Food Fair is coming up and we will need everyone's help and participation to make this a successful fundraiser for ECW. The parish and the community are invited to shop together and at the same time. Please plan to bring your usual favorite desserts and your usual wonderful specialty items, such as breads, cheese straws, meat loaf, etc. If you have questions, please contact Regan Coxe at

6 Remember, before you go to bed this Saturday night (November 2nd), set your clock BACK one hour so you can get to church on time. SOCKS FOR HOMELESS Our youth will be working with the homeless in Washington, DC next weekend. They are collecting MEN S socks to take with them to hand out. Socks can be dropped off in the church office until Friday, November 8th. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD Operation Christmas Child is with us once again. The Shoe Boxes will be available starting this coming Sunday (November 3rd) and need to be filled and returned by November 20th. FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION Sunday, November 10th will mark our 4th quarter collection for The Edenton Chowan Food Pantry. Please bring a bag or two of food to church and leave it in the narthex and it will be delivered to the pantry. Items that are especially needed are: Canned Meats, Macaroni and Cheese, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Disposable Diapers, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Flour, Sugar, Bar Soap, and Toilet Tissue. There continues to be a strong demand for the services provided by the Food Pantry, so please be generous. Thank You for your continued support of this vital local ministry. It was a most enjoyable meet and greet session for all involved, and greatly appreciated by Fr. Jim. Proceeds help ECW give back to Communities near and far.
