1 S M Boar s Head Festival February 2014 On December 14, 2013, the Master Singers of Worcester had their annual Boar s Head festival. Twelve members of the Sunday school would like to thank Sarah-Kate Johnson for her wonderful performance. They all found it to be a magical night. It was a wonderful way to bring fellowship into the holiday season. Sarah-Kate s voice was beautiful as was the music, setting and costumes. The Sunday school would also like to thank the St. Michael s vestry for approving the funds to sponsor the children who attended. Please consider attending next year- we promise, it will put you in the Christmas spirit.

She asked if we could bring in hats and gloves[mostly for men]. The December 16th issue of the Worcester Telegram had an article on Worcester Fellowship. This is a group of local people and clergy who come together every Sunday to have a church service and pass out bag lunches on the common. Several of us will be going with Rev Meredyth the first Sunday in February. This seems to be an excellent program to outreach in our own community. There will be a bin to collect the hats and gloves in the narthex. If interested talk with any of the stewardship team. 3 Stewardship Ministry Team Update Each month the deadline for the Light seems to come around sooner, but this month we have a lot to say. We met in early January to plan some events for the first half of the year, we also discussed the pledge drive and the few people who have still not returned their pledge for Someone from the team will be contacting you via phone in the next few days to remind you of your pledge - if you did not receive a note from the team thanking you for your pledge, then we did not receive it. For events to come we have made the following calendar. January 2014 Sunday 26th - Health presentation related to cardiac issues, cholesterol numbers and signs of a heart attack. Sunday 26th - Kids to return their sponsored reading forms Friday 31st - First Friday celebration - a red meal/early valentine s day February 2014 Friday 7th - Make valentines, decorate cookies and other activities. Sunday 9th - Deliver valentines and cookies to the rest home on Burncoat Street February Community forum presentation date to be announced on Seasonal Affective Disorder or Hospice care March 2014 Tuesday 4th - Shrove Tuesday pancake supper and pancake toss Lenten program - details to be announced Stations of the Cross? Fridays Dear fellow Parishioners, Family Fellowship Report Happy Saint Valentine s Day! We hope this finds you all warm and snug during ths cold month. Our children have returned to the lectionary curriculum after practicing their lines for our pageant. They have had class discussion on John the Baptist - who he was, why he was baptizing, and why and how he died. They learned the word martyr and were asked to name some. We have also discussed what are their expectations of God. Some wonderful and wise answers were: to judge us, to help us, to inspire us. When asked to draw a picture of God - only two children did not. When asked why, they answered I don t know what he looks like. We then reviewed Mose s decent from Mount Sinai and how we are to have no idol of God - so to have a blank page was the only correct answer. Congrats Zachary and Charlotte. We have a few dates to announce. February 7th will be our Valentine Social for families. Our Sunday school children formally invited their class mates to this event. February 9th we will head over to Burncoat Plains and hand out Valentines to the residents. This will be after church with parent participation. We wish you all love and warmth this Valentine s Day. Our meetings usually happen on Tuesday evenings, starting at 6:30 with a simple bible study and a prayer. The meeting usually flows from our reflections on the bible study, even with an agenda, and we focus on maintaining life, joy and activities at our church. We end the meetings around 8:30 or so. 4 Glasses for Ghana On-going Outreach Projects Baby Basket Ministry With the Baptism of Jordan Motta on Dec 28th, grandson of Louise and Ron Motta, we have presented 18 baby baskets to the newly baptized since we began this ministry in If you would like to make a donation toward the baby baskets there is a list of the items that go into the baskets in the narthex. These are divided up among the Sunday school children at the end of the school year to be brought to their schools. The schools receive 10 cents for every coupon turned in. Please continue to bring in your nonperishable donations to church. With our most recent donation of 5 pounds, 4 ounces, our total to date is 37 pounds, 3 ounces. WOW!!! The can tabs go to the Shriners and proceeds go toward flying children in need to a Shriners Hospital. Pancakes at the Farm March 1-2 and March 8-9, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Adults $12.00, Children (3-10) $6.00, free for Children under 3 Tour the farm, visit the sugar shack, spend time with the animals and enjoy a hearty pancake breakfast with Heifer Farm maple syrup and pork sausage.
