10 DISCIPLESHIP In 2011, the SBTC hosted nearly 40 praying and listening sessions around the state to hear about the needs of our churches. One of the primary needs which surfaced through this process was discipleship. Church leaders said they need more help in the area of discipleship. That and several other key comments led us to a new focus in the area of discipleship. Anybody in any form of church leadership: staff and volunteers How can this help me? We all need some help and a little training can really benefit all of us. Along with that, often times we want to get tools to our leaders but can t get them to events. This will allow you to send links to video s to help them with their ministries. Cost? FREE everything we do for this is completely free. We know that you may not have a budget for this kind of thing so thanks to the Cooperative Program this is provided to our churches with no strings attached. What kinds of training do we have? This is a great way to get them involved in your church as well as a new ministry. Students have a unique way to reach people through their energetic service and fresh perspective. Preparing, equipping, training, and mobilizing churches and volunteers to fulfill the Great Commission by meeting real needs and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ with those whose lives have been or will be affected by disasters. The SBTC DR team mobilizes churches and volunteers by focusing on three primary ministry areas: Disaster Relief Preparation: Seminars on family disaster preparation, church and/or association disaster preparation and disaster awareness Disaster Relief Training: Offered for volunteers in eight ministry areas: mass care feeding, cleanup and recovery, temporary childcare, operations, communications, chaplaincy, water purification and shower/laundry ministry. Disaster Relief Response: When disasters occur, volunteer teams may be asked to mobilize in Texas, North America or internationally, depending on the nature and scope of the disaster.
