1 Helpers of God s Precious Infants Of the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church PO Box Birmingham AL Dear Friends, SINCERE THANKS to all who join in spirit with the Helpers each month for the 1st & 3rd Saturday Masses & Rosary Vigils, and in daily Mass, Rosary, Holy Hours, & other prayers & alms, for the END TO ABORTION & the spread of the Culture / Gospel of LIFE in our Diocese & the world over!! God has heard our prayers, keeping Planned Parenthood Bham CLOSED (no abortions since 18 December 2013!). And on 4 March 2014, during the 40 DFL CANDLELIGHT VIGIL, we learned that New Woman All Women (NWAW) abortion site has a large realty Available sign near the front door!! AND our Legislators in Montgomery passed 4 pro-life, pro-family bills through the House during that Vigil! OURS IS A MISSION OF LOVE Prayerful presence at abortion sites Saturday Rosary Vigils, Side-walk Counseling 40 Days for Life Helping those in crisis pregnancy situations Shower of Blessings and Petals Boutique Bringing healing to abortion victims Project Rachel and Rachel s Vineyard Promoting abstinence in youth and chastity in all walks of life Promoting healthy marriages Promoting Natural Family Planning Praying for crisis situations Eucharistic Adoration Lovingly assisting the elderly and homebound Loaves and Fishes Constantly offering prayers, Holy Hours, Masses and sacrifices for Life! April 2014 What you THINK about things determines what you DO about them. God designed Marriage more for HOLINESS than for Happiness "We cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide." ~ Ronald Reagan PRAY FOR THE VICTORY OF JUSTICE FOR THE UNBORN! DIANE DERZIS/NWAW UPDATE Now that the new ADPH Regulations are in effect (any place must be licensed & regulated by ADPH if 10 or more abortions are performed in any month), perhaps Diane Derzis is finally giving up on her NWAW abortion business in Birmingham. She became an abortion counselor at Summit abortion center in 1975, and director in In the mid- 1990s, she bought the New Woman business, and she & Patrick Smith (died Nov 2013) have owned this building since DETAILS: * her house in Bham: for sale * her abortion building ( th Ave S): for sale * abortionist in a big OBG practice in Atlanta who used to do abortions for Diane Derzis at NWAW in Birmingham : -- gave up his AL license last year ( Inactive by request ) -- over the last many months, this abortionist has been doing abortions each week in Columbus GA (also owned by Diane Derzis); the Columbus people of life held a prayer vigil at his Atlanta OBG yesterday (24 Mar 14) and the CEO met with them & saw the photos of the abortionist at the abortion shop. She called the Columbus people on 25 Mar 14 and told them that this abortionist will NOT do abortions at Columbus anymore, or anywhere in GA! She also said they were planning other sanctions against him (probably because he was told 2 years ago to stop). A second abortionist who worked for Diane in GA, at the Columbus abortion shop (both abortionists worked one day/ week), Andre Williams, has apparently been brought up by the Georgia AG on Medicaid fraud charges, so if he gets put in jail (like Malloy, another GA abortionist!) Diane will have NO abortionists at her shop in Georgia. Just as well. We understand that the CEILING is caving in the waiting room there... BREAKING: We also found out a third abortionist who worked for Diane at NWAW (Bruce Norman, the one who botched the 3 abortions at NWAW on 21 Jan 12) has given up his AL Medical License ( Inactive Failed to Renew ). We are still trying to find a reason for Planned Parenthood Bham s closure; but mostly, we are just grateful to God every day they remain closed! In the Parable of the Talents, do you remember the servant who received just one talent and then buried it? He didn t want any confrontation, he just wanted (Continued on page 2) Page 1
2 to stay isolated; he was not interested in working with or helping others. He represents those who want to ignore the issue of LIFE, self-absorbed in their own needs & wants, lukewarm & unconcerned about all the babies, elderly, & handicapped, who are being killed. These do nothing to try to better the world. I am NOT my brother s keeper. I just want to live my own life, do what I want and have what I want I am an island, an individual Just leave me alone! Well, that servant had his way until his master returned! Then he experienced the ANGER of the master for his failure to reap any benefits through interaction with others. Too many people ignore the fact that we are here to grow to know, love, and serve God in this life, and that involves realizing our connectedness to others, and the uncomfortable need to sometimes confront others by bringing the Light of Truth to them! So, let s remember what happened to that servant he lost everything (which could mean he even lost his soul). We are called to serve God by professing His Commandments, His Beatitudes, His Justice, & His Mercy to others, in season and out of season!! HAPPENINGS!! 1) OUR AL LEGISLATIVE SES- SION BEGAN 14 JANUARY -- Your Strong & Polite Pressure on Senator Del Marsh [President Pro-Tempore] and on Mike Hubbard, the Speaker of the House motivated them to generate more pro-life bills in the Legislature this year! The AL House of Reps did a quick job getting 5 pro-life bills through! Please THANK your AL Rep and while you are there, please contact your State Senator to urge his/her sponsorship and vote for all these pro-life, pro-family bills (see below). Five bills are now in Senate [Rules Chr. Sen Waggoner & Rules Committee must assign it to Calendar]. After the Spring Break, there will only be 3 Legislative Days left to pass these bills in the Senate! ** HB 31 HEALTHCARE RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE ACT Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, & others will be protected from participating in abortion, human cloning, human embryonic stem cell research, and sterilization if opposed to their moral values. ** HB48 ADOPTION TAX CREDIT of $1000 per child ** HB 489 Woman s Right to Know Act Amendment (48 hour waiting period instead of 24 hour) ** HB 490 FETAL HEARTBEAT ** HB 493 PERINATAL HOSPICE INFORMATION ACT (support for parents who receive lethal anomaly prognosis for their unborn baby) ** HB 494 PARENTAL CONSENT (Amendment) (requires signature of parent/guardian to be signed in presence of doctor, and specific ID) PLEASE CALL/ TODAY to your State Rep & State Senator! Click & click tabs to find your House & Senate Legislator. 2) 40 DAYS FOR LIFE Campaigns run from 5 March 13 April. Please participate through Prayer at abortion sites / Prayer & Fasting / Outreach!! In Bham, the 40 DFL Campaign at PP Bham is celebrating its closing and the prayer is that PP Bham will STAY CLOSED PERMANENTLY!!! Already in 2014, at least 7 abortion shops nationwide have totally shut down we pray that PP Bham will be added to that number! [For those of you who remember Benny Bekane & Fr. Thaddeus Tamm C.P., we trust that they & other AL pro-life souls are before God s Throne, praying unceasingly that these killing centers will cease in AL and nationwide!! Please ask for their continued prayers -- & those of ALL the Saints -- for the rapid END to abortion & euthanasia!!] 3) 8 th NOVENA OF MASSES for the permanent closing of West AL Women s Ctr in Tuscaloosa & conversion of the staff 30 March 7 April Bishop Baker has approved the Novenas of Masses. Please pray in union with these Holy Masses (& Holy Hours) for this intention. AND MONTGOMERY area is offering God a Novena of Masses for the permanent closing of the Reproductive Health Services abortion site during the same dates!! PLEASE PRAY WITH FERVOR & UNITE WITH BOTH THESE NOVENAS Thank you very much! WHAT CAN I DO? * Participate in the 40 DFL: "When a fire is reported, the fire-men do not sit around the fire house and have a prayer service. They go to where the fire is. When a priest gets a sick call, he goes to the bedside of the sick person. The same is true with abortion. We are called to show up at the places where the killing occurs. This expresses solidarity with them in their hour of greatest need." ~Father Frank Pavone, Priests For Life * Contact both your State Legislators when they are at home ; they have more time to listen then. *Organize weekly / daily prayer in your church * Participate in 1st Friday & 1st Saturday Devotions! YOUR KINGDOM COME! Eucharistic Adoration That LOVE Himself may be loved!! GET OUR YOUTH INVOLVED FOR LIFE! THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOUTH CAN DO TO END ABORTION, & TO SPREAD THE CULTURE OF LIFE 1) Pray daily & with fervor for the end to abortion (go to Mass, Adoration, pray the Rosary...) 2) Be Pure & Chaste, & Modest in word, action, and clothing PURITY AU- THENTICITY GENEROSITY CONFIDENCE STYLE GRACE!!! PURE FASHION AND affiliate.purefashion.com/modesty PURITY BALL -- The Pledge -- thepledge.html "My father pledged to protect me and promised to lead a life of integrity and purity for me." 8 SPRING 2014 NOVENA OF MASSES Birmingham Diocese Intention: For the permanent closing of the Tuscaloosa West Alabama Women's Center and for the conversion of the staff. The Novena of Masses began in our Diocese, with the permission of Bishop Baker, in the Fall of Parishes offer a Mass or Masses in solidarity for the closing of one particular abortion site in our diocese. This will be our 8th Novena of Masses; each abortion business will have had two Novenas of Masses offered for it. The first Novena of Masses offered for New Woman All Women (NWAW) in Birmingham took place in the Fall of In January 2012, volunteers captured on camera and video two ambulances taking women to the hospital for botched abortions. Following a report sent to ADPH, NWAW was shut down by ADPH in May It reopened in February 2013 as a doctor office ; after court orders and ADPH rule changes, it apparently has closed, since a realty sign is now on the property. The second Novena of Masses for Planned Parenthood took place in the Fall of 2013; their last abortion day was 18 December 2013, and it has been closed for three months. The Huntsville abortion business appears significantly slowed. The Tuscaloosa abortion site performed over 40% of all abortions in Alabama, according to state figures for Now that the two Birmingham sites are closed, it is likely that the Tuscaloosa business is performing many more abortions. All readers are invited and encouraged to attend as many of these Masses as possible, and to unite to all the Masses every day of the Novena. Please join your daily Masses, rosaries, Holy Hours, and other alms for this specific intention. For a complete listing of the Novena Masses, see the One Voice or HGPInews@gmail.com A separate Novena of Masses is being offered in Montgomery for their closing of their abortion mill.
