Leadership Forum -- Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. We are beginning leadership succession planning for many of our key ministry positions including Parish Council. In this forum, we would like to discuss the leadership opportunities within the parish: Parish Council Board of Auditors And other leadership positions where talents are best matched to serve the community. Please join us as we look to our members to reflect on where we have been, where we are today, and where we need to go as a vibrant parish. A favor of a reply is requested no later than Sept. 9 to the church office. Nominations for candidates For: 1) Parish Council 2) Board of Elections 3) Board of Auditors The 2017 nominating committee is now accepting names of members who are interested in running for Parish Council, Board of Elections, or Board of Auditors. Becoming Orthodox September 21, 28 & October 5 at 7:00 p.m. Presented by Fr. Steve Dalber and Fr. John Wallace frdalber@stnektarios.org, frwallace@stnektarios.org During the three sessions, we answer questions that non Orthodox people have about the faith and help them understand what it means to enter the Orthodox faith through Holy Chrismation should they choose to do so. This class is also appropriate for those already Orthodox who would like to learn or review the basics of the faith. Topics include an overview of church history, understanding Holy Tradition, the development of The Creed, the nature of the Holy Trinity and more. For those who plan to be chrismated and cannot make the class, appointments can be arranged to fit your schedule. Second Trays Periodically, we pass a second tray on Sundays to support those causes beyond St. Nektarios. In July and August, we have an opportunity to offer our assistance: On September 17th, for Hellenic College Holy Cross. The funds are collected by Philoptochos. Make checks payable to St. Nektarios Philoptochos, with memo line HCHC. Ministry Plans Looking Ahead Many of our ministries are in the process of developing their program and activity calendars for the Ecclesiastical Year. Here are some highlights: Parish Assembly, Sun., Oct. 1 Crop Hunger Walk, Sat., Oct. 14 Celebrating our Marriages, Metropolis of Atlanta Family Life Workshop, Sat., Oct. 21 Annual Regional IOCC Fundraiser to be held at St. Sarkis, Sat., Oct. 28 Parish Council Elections, Sun., Nov. 19 Opera Carolina Christmas Concert & Community Outreach, Sun., Nov. 26 Philoptochos Christmas Brunch, Sat., Dec. 2 Parish Christmas Music Program, Sat., Dec. 16 Beyond St. Nektarios Dance for Parkinson s Disease Community Classes, every Wednesday, 1 2 p.m. at the Patricia McBride & Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux Center for Dance, 701 N. Tryon St. Taught by teaching artist Gretchen Jax, this movement class is for people with Parkinson s Disease and their caregivers. The class uses choreographic repertory in a stimulating, non-pressured and social environment with live music to energize, enrich and empower. Must have clean driving record and ability to transport children from preschool to home. Time would be 1:00-5:00 pm. 7 Our Journey Continues Capital Donor Recognition To honor the gifts that built the Sanctuary Donors to earlier campaigns have been recognized by plaques in the Spiritual Life Center. In celebration of our 20th anniversary next year, we want to honor the donors who built our Sanctuary.
