6 We Are Church Together: Giving in Hope Area Ministry Gatherings We Are Church Together for the Sake of the World. What Does It Mean to Really Live Into This? When Bishop Eaton reminds us of our church-wide mission, does this ques on come to mind? Join Bishop Gustafson and other synod staff as we gather on a Sunday a ernoon to explore what it means to be Church Together and how Giving in Hope strengthens our connec on with each other. Times have changed...and stewardship has changed. It is difficult to teach or prac ce stewardship unless we have a clear understanding of what it looks like today. We want to help you and your congrega on develop a mindset and heart for generosity in order to grow our capacity to serve the world. This gathering will help us to see our gi s as tools God gave us to minister to the world around us, with the love of Christ. This three hour event includes dinner at no cost and the following ac vi es: Giving in Hope Stories Share stories of how giving has made a difference for the giver and receiver. Ministry "Speed Da ng" Get to know the needs of mul ple ministries in 10-minute presenta ons. The New Stewardship Stewardship has changed. Find out what it looks like in 2017 and beyond. Celebrate Our Successes Celebrate as we worship and share a meal together. St. Louis and Eastern Missouri Area 10 Gathering: Sunday, March 26 from 3:00 6:00 pm. Trinity Lutheran, Chesterfield, MO Monday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chesterfield, MO Mee ng with rostered leaders and PMAs 9:30 noon. Sunday a ernoon is open to everyone, and we can carpool. Pastor is definitely going. I encourage all adults to consider this. It is free and includes supper. This is especially important for Council, Team Steward, and all leaders on Teams or in ministries. It will be good. Call the church office and we will register you. Make a Difference in World Hunger and Poverty - Join Our Synod World Hunger Network Today, one in nine people face hunger and one in seven live in extreme poverty. As members of the ELCA we are called to respond. Maybe you, as an individual or congrega on, want to make an impact but don t know where to start. Our ELCA is doing amazing work around the world and in the U.S. to respond to these vital needs. Central States Synod would like to build a network of Hunger Leaders across the synod to join with others across the country to promote this important work in our congrega ons. You don t have to do this alone. There is support and educa on available at the Synod level and from the churchwide office, with wonderful resources already prepared and ready to share with your fellow members. Is God calling you in this new year, to get involved in this way? Hunger Leaders organize, lead and par cipate in synodical leadership and related hunger ac vi es; raise awareness and educate about hunger and poverty in their congrega ons and communi es; encourage others to give their me, talent and resources; and par cipate and li up the importance of advocacy. Two valuable resources provided monthly are: the Go and Do News e-newsle er and monthly webinars. These resources provide educa on and updates about hunger-related ac vi es across the ELCA, and a chance to ask ques ons and provide feedback to church-wide staff. If you are interested in learning more about being a Hunger Leader for your congrega on contact Cindy or Glenn Kra at gckra 815@aol.com or Rev. Susan Candea at the synod office. Is there a Team of 1, 2, or 3 who feel called to do this?
