3 Today s Meditation BE PREPARED Be prepared. It s that simple. As this Advent season opens before us, the Lord Jesus summons us to stand ready for his coming. At this time of year much of our attention is focused on being prepared for the details that accompany the holiday season. We purchase gifts; we decorate our homes, inside and out; we prepare foods that we eat only during the holidays; we write and send Christmas cards; we attend holiday concerts; we prepare either to welcome family and friends into our homes or arrange for visits to their homes. We really can t escape the details that make up the season. Perhaps this Advent is a time to attend to all those details with a different spin. As we prepare to celebrate the feast of Christmas, why not be deliberate about acknowledging the presence of the Lord as we go about these tasks? Andrea Time, Talent, and Treasure BISHOP S ANNUAL APPEAL REPORT As of October 31, 2016, our parish has raised $ 59, towards our goal of $ 39, That is 140% of our goal with 29% of our families participating. The Bishop s Annual Appeal funds critical ministries in our diocese doing very important work. It is vital that every parish participate to support the mission of the diocese. Through charitable works, outreach, and education, we are making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in need. If you have not yet made a gift, please help us reach our parish s financial and participation goals. 50% of all funds raised in excess of our parish goal will be returned to (insert parish name) in January so that we may continue the work of our parish. THE TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS ( Extraordinary Form ) will be offered each Saturday at 9:00 am, unless announced otherwise. The format will be the Low Mass, in Dialogue (1962 congregation may join in some responses, in the Gloria, etc.; readings will be done out loud in Latin, and repeated in English.)

The parishes of St. Anne and St. Anthony have gotten together to start a young adults group for adults ages 18 through 40. Anyone interested in the Catholic faith are welcome to join. Bring a friend if you can! For more information on the next meeting, please contact John Guest at jguest030@gmail.com In teaching that Mary was conceived immaculate, the Catholic Church teaches that from the very moment of her conception, the Blessed Virgin Mary was free from all stain of original sin. This simply means that from the beginning, she was in a state of grace, sharing in God's own life, and that she was free from the sinful inclinations which have beset human nature after the fall. BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN This campaign is officially over; however, there are still 100+ bottles that have yet to be returned. Please return them to the church office with or without a donation. This is an annual fundraiser, so the return of the bottles cuts the expense for next year s effort. Thank you for all you have done so far. CYO NEWS CYO is open to all 7-12 th graders who are interested in learning more about their faith and having some fun at the same time! WFOC 93.3 FM These shawls are made by a group of women right here at St. Anthony s Church. We make not only prayer shawls, but also lap robes and christening blankets. Each item made comes with a special card saying this gift was made with love and prayers, as an expression of God s loving care for you. These items are intended to bring comfort to those who are hurting perhaps because of a death, a serious illness, or a major life crisis. The christening blankets are a gift of joy to share in the blessing God gives through new life. These gifts are free but if possible, a donation for the yarn is much appreciated. 7 St. Anthony School Middle School Mathematics Teacher ***Immediate Opening*** We are accepting applications for a high energy middle school mathematics instructor capable of providing differentiated mathematics instruction to talented and respectful students in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. The ideal candidate must possess the requisite skills in mathematics to deliver a curriculum guided by the Diocese of Charleston. Adviento! Interesante palabra. Viene del latín y quiere decir Allí viene o Ya está llegando. Pero, de quién hablamos cuando proclamamos Adviento? Del Rey de gloria?, el Príncipe de la paz?, el Hijo de Dios Altísimo?, el salvador de Israel? Sí, sí, sí y sí, pero más todavía del Hijo del Hombre, del niñito de María, el niño Jesús de Nazaret. Allí viene y ya está llegando. Tenemos que estar preparados. Pero, cómo prepararnos para la llegada de un rey que es pobre?, de un príncipe que nació entre una mula y un buey?, de un niñito que ya es todo un hombre y además es Dios?, de un pobre bebito que también es juez y señor? He allí el dilema del Adviento cristiano. Es un llamado a vivir la paradoja (contradicción) de un tiempo que está a medias, donde el Reino de los Cielos ya está pero todavía no completamente, pues existe pero no en su plenitud. Es un llamado a buscar en el templo, en el mall, en el barrio, en el hogar, en el trabajo y en el propio corazón, para ver si allí viene el dueño de la casa. Es un llamado a estar atentos y vigilantes porque no sabemos ni cuándo ni como Jesús regresará por nosotros. Pero cuando regrese nos pedirá cuentas y nos abrazará a la misma vez. Porque viene como juez y hermano nuestro, como rey y compañero; como Dios y ser humano.
