3 Prepare The Way Of The Lord Is 40:3 San Clemente Parish Welcomes Father Daniel Williamson, CFR for an Advent Evening of Adoration & Reflection on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 6:00pm. Father Daniel Williamson is a priest of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. He currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has served the friars in various missions in New York as well as Honduras and Nicaragua since joining the friars in Prior to entering the friars, he served in the United States Air Force as an F-16 crew chief, drove an 18-wheeler cross-country and worked various construction jobs. He attended Seton Hall University and received his Bachelor s degree in Philosophy and Master s degree in Divinity from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT. Fr. Daniel is passionate about the outdoors, music, travelling, and most especially, preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. There will be an opportunity for Confession during Father Daniel s talk, and the first night of Posadas, hosted by the San Clemente Staff and Volunteers, will follow immediately after, in the. The Immaculate Conception is the doctrine that Mary, conceived in the normal way through an act of love by her mother and father (St. Joachim and St. Anne), was born free of original sin and its effects from the first moment of her existence. This special grace was conferred on her through the grace of God in anticipation of the redemption. Historically, this doctrine has sometimes been misunderstood as the conception of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit in the feast we know as the Annunciation. Instead, the Immaculate Conception celebrates the Blessed Mother as a pure and spotless vessel designed for the privilege and responsibility of carrying the Son of God into the world. We hail Mary in faith and prayer because she is full of grace and because the Lord is with her. In other words, Mary was filled with God well before the Messiah was conceived in her womb.

Confirmation Year I students: your sponsor must be chosen and your Affidavit for Sponsorship must be turned in by December 14 th. Students were given an Advent calendar and Advent activities in class last week. Please make sure you utilize these resources to help prepare your families for Christmas this year. Tuesday is the feast of St. Nicholas. Traditionally Catholics leave their shoes outside their rooms and St. Nicholas leaves them a treat when they wake up in the morning. This year, we re going to extend that tradition to our students. Please be sure to ask them about the life of St. Nicholas. Please consider beginning this tradition in your home. We know that Jesus was conceived without Original Sin he is God and therefore cannot sin or have sin. We celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary, his Mother. Because she was chosen by Jesus to be his mother, she was preserved from the first moment of her conception from original sin and was filled with grace from the very beginning of her life. The has always believed in Mary s Immaculate Conception both in the East and in the West. We see in Luke s Gospel Hail Mary, full of grace In 1846 she was proclaimed the patroness of the United States under this title and remains so to this day. In 1854 the dogma was defined by Pope Pius IX, and her feast day has been celebrated as a Holy Day ever since. Between February 11 and July 16, 1858, Our Lady appeared to 14 year-old Bernadette Soubirous 18 times in a grotto near Lourdes, France. In her last appearance she told Saint Bernadette, I am the Immaculate Conception, something young Bernadette would have not known, making her visions credible to the people of her time. On her 9 th visit she had Saint Bernadette dig in the ground, and an underground fountain appeared that still provides healing baths. By her yes at the Annunciation, the disobedience of Eden is Undone. and paradise is possible for each of us. Gay Snell The Angel Tree, being hosted by the San Clemente Catholic Daughters, will be placed in the church on the weekend of November 26th. The Angel Tree will have tags with gift ideas for families of the Gabriel Project, St. Vincent de Paul, participants in the Men s Recovery Program, the SOLT (Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity) Sisters, and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared six times to three shepherd children near the town of Fatima, Portugal between May 13th and October 13, The Blessed Virgin told Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia that she had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman, and child living in our century. This came at a time when civilization was torn by war and bloody violence. She promised that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if Her requests for prayer, reparation and consecration were heard and obeyed. Our Lady of Fatima GABRIEL PROJECT: December 8 - Natural Family Planning December 15 - Family Morals, Values and Rules December 22 - Nutritious Meals January 5 - TBA Parenting classes are held on Thursday at 4:00pm in the San Clemente. All are welcome! We need a volunteer to co-facilitate the Gabriel Project Parenting Class Program. We also need volunteers on Thursday afternoons to help with meal preparation and childcare. We help anyone who is pregnant and young families who are in need of baby equipment throughout Valencia County. We are in need of Diapers sizes 3, 4, & 5 and baby wipes. Mother s Prayer Group is an ACTS sponsored gathering for all who wish to pray for our children and grandchildren. This interdenominational/international group uses a prayer guide book. Please join us on Monday evenings during Religious Education classes in the Cry Room of the beginning at 6pm. Life Teen is a Catholic High School Ministry. We meet Sundays after the 5:30pm in the. A vocation is a call from the Holy Spirit, a gift from God that is nurtured in prayer. 6 St. Vincent de Paul The Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday and is closed on Fridays. Food Distribution: 12:00-1:00 pm Store Hours: 1:00-3:00 pm. Donations may be dropped off at the St. Vincent de Paul Pantry during operating hours, at the parish office Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (closed from 12pm-1pm), or the collection baskets in the entrance of the church. Please do not drop off donations after hours.
