This CD is lovingly dedicated to St. John Paul II who was the catalyst behind the spread of this beautiful devotion, and said, I wish solemnly to entrust the world to Divine Mercy. I do so with the burning desire that the message of God s merciful love, proclaimed here through St. Faustina, may be made known to all the peoples of the earth and fill their hearts with hope This fire of mercy needs to be passed on to the world. In the mercy of God the world will find peace and mankind will find happiness. Dedication of the Shrine of Divine Mercy Homily of the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II Krakow-Lagiewniki, August 17, 2002 Theme Song Jesus, Friend of children Here we come to You In Your Mercy hear us Grant Your children s prayer. (Composer unknown) -1-

Today bring to Me the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. Only the humble soul is able to receive My grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence. (Jesus to St. Faustina; Diary, 1220) -2-

FAMILY EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR Exposition Once the people have assembled, a song such as the following may be sung while the priest or deacon prepares the Holy Eucharist for adoration. O Salutaris Hostia/O Saving Victim O SALUTARIS Hostia Quae caeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur fer auxilium. Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria: Qui vitam sine termino, Nobis donet in patria. Amen. O SAVING Victim, opening wide The gate of heaven to us below! Our foes press on from every side; Your aid supply, Your strength bestow. To Your great name be endless praise, Immortal Godhead, One in Three; O grant us endless length of days When our true native land we see. Amen. The Blessed Sacrament is placed on the altar. The presiding minister then kneels before the altar and incenses the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration Act of Consecration of the Family To The Divine Mercy O Jesus, You showed us Your infinite compassionate love by exhausting the very last drop of blood and water from Your body. From this day forward, with full confidence, we entrust our families to Your Divine Mercy. We abandon our past, our present and our future. We place into Your wounds all of our wounds which are caused by lack of love, understanding and trust. Jesus, expel Satan and all evil from our families, free us from the consequence of sin and protect us from further harm. Heal our wounds. May our families learn to venerate Your Divine Image that they will never perish but experience Your loving mercy. Amen. Prayer composed by Rev. Dermot S. Roache, SMA Imprimatur + John J. 7 The Sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (The Sign of the Cross is made with the right hand by touching the forehead at the word Father, the chest at Son, and the left and right shoulders at Holy Spirit. ) The Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Our Father (Lord s Prayer): Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Glory Be: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. After each decade, the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima may be said: Fatima Prayer: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Hail, Holy Queen: Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! -6-

Luminous Mysteries (Thursday) Baptism of Jesus In a hospital in Hong Kong, a Chinese Sister spoke to a young cancer patient about God, our loving Father, and about heaven, our eternal home. The boy, an orphan, told her: I never had a father. I never had a home. Baptized, the boy made the journey to God clothed in Christ because a Sister had shared with him the fruits of her own baptism. Green: for the forests and grasslands of Africa. Wedding at Cana Mother Teresa tells of bringing rice to a hungry family. The next day, she discovered the food was gone. It seems that a neighboring family had no food either, so the first family shared what Mother Teresa had brought them. The neighbors, of a different faith, were witnesses to Christian love. Red: calling to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the Americas. Proclaiming the Kingdom In East Africa, a Catholic family heard of a village far from their own where the people had never heard of Christ. In prayer, and in love, they decided to move to the distant village so that day by day they could tell and show the people what it means to be a follower of Christ. White: symbolizing Europe, the seat of the Holy Father, shepherd of the world. Transfiguration To catch even a glimpse of the glory that awaits us in Christ is a gift beyond compare for millions of people whose lives are a daily struggle. Such a glimpse was caught in Liberia, West Africa. When people by the hundreds fled from their homes in the midst of civil war, their pastor said, They left all their belongings behind, but they brought with them one valuable possession their faith. Blue: for the ocean surrounding the Islands of the Pacific. Institution of the Eucharist World Mission Sunday, celebrated each year on the next-to-last Sunday in October, in the context of the Mass, reminds us that we who eat Christ s Body and drink His Blood are sent to continue His mission to the world. Supported by Mary, we will not hesitate to devote ourselves generously to taking the proclamation of the Good News to the ends of the earth, said Pope John Paul II. Yellow: the morning light of the East, for Asia. -8-

Red: calling to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the Americas. Crowning with Thorns That all those who suffer from despair, especially the refugees of the missions, may find hope in Christ s promise of eternal happiness for those who believe in Him. White: symbolizing Europe, the seat of the Holy Father, shepherd of the world. Carrying of the Cross For the Church in the United States, that by our prayers and sacrifices for the missions, we may help bear the burdens of our brothers and sisters worldwide. Blue: for the ocean surrounding the Islands of the Pacific. The Crucifixion That those who hunger and thirst for justice in the missions may work peacefully and successfully toward their goal. Blue: for the ocean surrounding the Islands of the Pacific. The Coronation That through the intercession of Mary, Queen of the Missions, young men and women will offer their lives to God as priests and religious in service of their neighbors. 12 Mary, Ark of The New Covenant Inspired by the image of Vessel of the Preborn Jesus Mary, in whom the Lord himself has just made his dwelling, is the daughter of Zion in person, the ark of the covenant, the place where the glory of the Lord dwells. She is the dwelling of God... with men. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2676) O Mother of Divine Grace, Vessel of the Preborn Jesus, and Ark of The New Covenant, please bless all who look upon this image of Our Lord within your womb. May it inspire us to have a deep appreciation for the gift of every human life from the moment of conception. May it lead us to make reparation for the sin of abortion. May it bring us to a greater understanding that we are all part of the Mystical Body of Christ and that you are Our Mother. May this image help us to realize that you are the Ark of The New Covenant; the living tabernacle that contained the Word of God made Flesh, the true Bread of Life, and the great High Priest, Jesus Christ! What a sacred privilege was granted you by the Blessed Trinity! Dear Preborn Jesus, encircled by the Rosary, which is the blueprint of Your life, we ask for an ever greater understanding of these holy mysteries. Please help us to be like Our Blessed Mother: humble, obedient, and trusting in Your Divine Will. Amen. 20 An Act of Consecration and Enthronement of the Family to the Divine Mercy It is suggested that a priest or deacon be present. The image of the Divine Mercy should be in an area of the home where all are gathered around it. In the Name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. V/. Our help is in the name of the Lord R/. Who made both heaven and earth. If a priest or deacon is present, he then blesses those present in the home with Holy Water. He then continues with this introduction: Jesus promised great graces to those in the world that have recourse to His Divine Mercy. He also emphasized His joy when a soul does so in full trust like that of a child. Jesus said to St. Faustina: I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You (327). By means of this image I shall be granting many graces to souls (570). 24 Vessel of the Preborn Jesus SPIRITUAL ADOPTION In direct response to the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade, the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child. This is done by praying that one particular, but unknown, child s life be spared from abortion and be allowed to continue to live. To help accomplish this, it was recommended that an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of nine months: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen. The name I wish to give my baby is:. During your earthly life, this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God, but in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet the souls your prayers saved and spend eternal happiness with them. Jesus, may Your peace and Your love embrace the hearts, minds and souls of the family, friends and loved ones who encourage this abortion and lead them all to your sacred and Eucharistic heart Totus Tuus (Totally Yours) Immaculate Conception, Mary my Mother, Live in me, Act in Me, Speak in me and through me, Think your thoughts in my mind, Love through my heart, Give me your dispositions and feelings, Teach, lead me and guide me to Jesus, Correct, enlighten and expand my thoughts and behavior, Possess my soul, Take over my entire personality and life, replace it with Yourself, Incline me to constant adoration, Pray in me and through me, Let me live in you and keep me in this union, always. Original prayer by Mother Immaculata, OCD, 1956 Totus Tuus salutation added by Pope John Paul II

Prayer To Know One s Vocation LORD, MY GOD AND MY LOVING FATHER, You have made me to know You, to love You, to serve You, and thereby to find and to fulfill my deepest longings. I know that You are in all things, and that every path can lead me to You. But of them all, there is one especially by which You want me to come to You. Since I will do what You want of me, I pray You, send your Holy Spirit to me: into my mind, to show me what You want of me; into my heart, to give me the determination to do it, and to do it with all my love, with all my mind, and with all of my strength right to the end. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen Prayers for Vocations O FATHER, You desire all of us to be happy. Stir up the grace of a religious vocation in the hearts of many men and women. Grant to them the willingness and generosity to give of themselves, their lives, their time and their talents to the service of Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord and Savior, and to His Holy Church. May more men and women go forth as priests, deacons, brothers and sisters to bring the truths of our Catholic faith to all others so that soon they, too, may know You better and love You more, and serving You, be truly happy. Amen. Prayer for Priests LORD JESUS CHRIST, eternal High Priest, You offered Yourself to the Father on the altar of the Cross and through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit gave Your priestly people a share in Your redeeming sacrifice. Hear our prayer for the sanctification of our priests. Grant that all who are ordained to the ministerial priesthood may be ever more conformed to You, the divine Master. May they preach the Gospel with pure heart and clear conscience. Let them be shepherds according to Your own Heart, single-minded in service to You and to the Church and shining examples of a holy, simple and joyful life. Through the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Mother and ours, draw all priests and the flocks entrusted to their care to the fullness of eternal life where You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. BENEDICTUS PP. XVI His Holiness Benedict XVI s Prayer for Priests (Specially composed for Worldpriest) worldpriestday.publishpath.com/benedict-prayer -24-

Hail Mary, V. And the Word was made flesh. R. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary, V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen. Prayer to Saint Michael The Archangel St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Fatima Prayers Before offering up suffering or a sacrifice, say: O Jesus, it is for the love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, for the Holy Father, and in reparation for the wrongs done to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Say the following prayer 3 times: O my God, I believe in Thee! I adore Thee! I hope in Thee, and I love Thee! I ask pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee. Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences by which He is offended. And through the merits of His Most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners. Amen. Prayer to the Holy Spirit (Cardinal Merciar) O, Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do... give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your will. -25-

From Liturgy of the Hours Intercessions Morning Prayer, Wed. Week II May the love of Your Holy Spirit direct our hearts and our lips, and may we always act in accordance with Your Will. Prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favored by God. You became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but the Mother of the redeemed as well. We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us. As you held the Child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms. Be a mother ready at every moment to help us, for God who is mighty has done great things for you, and His mercy is from age to age on those who love Him. Our greatest fear is that in time of temptation, we may fail to call out to you, and become lost children. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Mother of Perpetual Help. Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great dictated by Our Lord to release 1000 souls from purgatory each time it is said: Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. Militia of the Immaculata Prayer (from St. Max Kolbe) O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee, and for those who do not have recourse to thee, especially for the enemies of the Church, and for those recommended to thee. Magnificat My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for He has looked with favor on His lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed; the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is His Name. He has mercy on those who fear Him in every generation. He has shown the strength of His arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has come to the help of His servant Israel for He has remembered His promise of mercy, the promise He made to our fathers, to Abraham and His children forever. -26-

Memorare Remember, O most compassionate Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother; to you we come, before you we kneel, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in your clemency, hear and answer us. Amen. 3:00 Hour Prayer (from St. Faustina) You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us... O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You. Prayer to St. Anthony for Family Unity (from Franciscan Friars of the Atonement) O holy St. Anthony, I fervently ask for your heavenly intercession on behalf of my family (here mention your petition). Fill our hearts with mutual love, compassion, and understanding. Help us to be forgiving of each other s mistakes and failures, so that our family may reflect God s presence in our homes and in our lives. Grant us family harmony, unity, and peace. Amen. Prayer to St. Anthony for Peace of Mind (from Franciscan Friars of the Atonement) O holy St. Anthony, your deep faith in Jesus Christ comforted your heart, especially during times of trial and distress. Help me grow in faith, so I may experience peace of mind and heart in my present needs (here mention). Free me from undue anxiety, needless worry and burdensome fears. Grant me sure confidence, unfailing trust in God s loving mercy and daily serenity. Amen. Fortnight of Freedom Prayer Almighty God, Father of all nations, for freedom You have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal. 5:1). We praise and bless You for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good. Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties. By Your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land. We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness. Amen. The Lady of All Nations Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the earth. Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster, and war. May the Lady of All Nations, the Blessed Virgin Mary, be our Advocate. Amen. -27-

Spiritual Adoptions of Priests, Religious, and Discerning Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I wish to spiritually adopt a Priest who is in spiritual and/or physical danger somewhere in the world. I also wish to spiritually adopt my Bishop, my Pastor, all Priests and Religious in our diocese and those I usually pray for. I also pray for all those discerning a vocation to the Priesthood and Religious life. I pray for the deepest spiritual needs and intentions of these Priests, Religious, and laity. HAIL MARY... Jesus, Savior of the world, please sanctify Thy Priests and Sacred Ministers. Mary, Queen of the Clergy, please pray for them. St. John Vianney, please pray for them. Prayers from approved apparitions Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, flood the whole of humanity with the graces of your Flame of Love, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. With Jesus and Mary, we pray: May our feet journey together. May our hands gather in unity. May our hearts beat in unison. May our souls be in harmony. May our thoughts be as one. May our ears listen to the silence together. May our glances profoundly penetrate each other. May our lips pray together to gain mercy from the Eternal Father. Amen. An Old French Prayer for Friends (from Little Way of Homeschooling) Blessed Mother of those whose names you can read in my heart, watch over them with every care. Make their way easy and their labors fruitful. Dry their tears if they weep; sanctify their joys; raise their courage if they weaken; restore their hope if they lose heart, their health if they be ill, truth if they err, and repentance if they fall. Amen. Prayer of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque O Heart of Love, I put all my trust in Thee, for I fear all things from my own weakness, but I hope for all things from Thy Goodness! -28-

Prayer to move the Church to proclaim Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen a Saint Heavenly Father, source of all good and all holiness, You reward those who love and serve You faithfully as Your sons and daughters. If it pleases You, I ask You to glorify Your servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He touched countless lives by his ministry of evangelization, especially through the media. His clear and courageous teachings about Jesus and the truths of the Catholic Church seemed to possess a special power of the Holy Spirit that strengthened the faithful and inspired many converts to embrace the faith. He supported the needs of missionaries all over the world through his work in the National Office of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. He also labored zealously for the renewal of the priesthood by preaching retreats to his brother priests and by encouraging them with the good example of his daily Eucharistic Holy Hour. His deep personal love of Our Lady moved many others to go to Jesus through His Mother. Heavenly Father, if it be according to Your Divine Will, I ask you to move Your Church to glorify Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. I ask this prayer in Jesus name. Amen The Pontifical Mission Societies;

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, You called Your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling His commandment of charity and building up His Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in Your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that You glorify Your venerable servant Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of Your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. + Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory be to the Father
