2 OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY Sunday, October 6 th will be the Mass for Our Lady of the Rosary. Rosarians are asked to arrive at church at 8:45 a.m. to line up for the 9:00 a.m. Mass. PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED Although we mention ONLY the names of those who were buried from Saint Mary Church from the pulpit during Sunday Mass, we do pray for all who have gone before us in death during our Universal Prayer. ATTENTION - COMMUNION CANDIDATES AND FAMILIES... [Revelation 14:13] Sign in for masses will begin THIS WEEKEND. Your child should come downstairs to the parish center at the 5:00pm Saturday mass or the 10:30am Sunday mass to sign in before mass begins. After signing in they should return to their families in preparation for the special learning sessions which will take place at each of these masses for the remainder of the year. Communicants as well as all those who have received the Sacrament of the Eucharist are reminded to attend Sunday Mass weekly. RELIGIOUS FORMATION CATECHISTS NEEDED Due to a large number of late registrations, some classes have grown very large. We are in need of another Grade 2 teacher on Sunday and another Grade 1 teacher on Wednesday. If you are willing to be a "team" teacher or a classroom aide it would make things run more smoothly for these large classrooms. Thank you September 29th Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael Archangels Please pray for our priests, Father Michael Kreder and Father Michael Gubernat on their name day, September 29 th, as they continue to serve God and their people. Saint Michael was the protector and defender of God s chosen people. Now he is the defender of the church and of al the Faithful. May Gabriel, the messenger be at his side in his important task of delivering God s message to his people and Raphael be their constant companions. GIANNA CENTER With so many couples facing infertility and the guilt and anxiety associated with techniques that are against the Church s teaching, there is now a center that is totally consistent with Catholic teachings and specializes in women and children. The Gianna Center which was founded in 2009 by Dr. Anne Nolte in New York City helps couples that are faced with infertility and want to be totally consistent with their Catholic principles. The Gianna Center s services include Infertility, Natural Family Planning, NapPro Technology and General Gynecological care. Dr. Davis Beiter who runs the Gianna Center at St. Peter s Hospital in New Brunswick is one of only a handful of fellowship-trained NaPro Technology surgeons in the United States. The Respect Life office has put information in every precana packet regarding the Gianna Center. Having this information and receiving this , we are hoping couples getting married will have this information available to them so they are aware of their options when faced with infertility besides IVF ( in vitro fertilization). 3 CYO Saint Mary CYO Basketball Program is currently looking for a COACH for the 8th grade girls program for the upcoming season starting in November. Anyone interested, please call Benn O'Hara at (551) or Benn at BennOHara@gmail.com. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE From September 25 through November 3, you're invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life - 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You're also invited to actively participate by peacefully praying during a 40-day vigil outside the Women's Choice Abortion Clinic, 10 Zabriskie Street, Hackensack. The vigil goes from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. We pray for the babies, their moms and dads and the staff as well as for God's protection of all human life. 4 BEREAVEMENT GROUP Has the loss of a loved one left you depressed, fearful, anxious or lonely? Perhaps you can find help through sharing your feelings in the Bereavement Support Group at the Church of Saint Mary. Reservations are required by calling the Office at [201] RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS Anyone interested in becoming a fully initiated Roman Catholic - one who has received Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist - the RCIA is for you! The RCIA is ideally for non-baptized [Jews, Moslems, Hindus, the unchurched] and for baptized Protestants who wish to become Catholic. It is also for adult Catholics who never received First Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Please share this invite with anyone who might be interested. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13 TH is our annual Parish Blood Drive. There is an EMERGENCY BLOOD SHORTAGE and ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED!! The drive will be held in the Parish Center from 8am - 2pm. Walk-in donors are very welcome. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 120 pounds. There is NO upper age for donors as long as they are in good health. Please come donate if you can. EVERY PINT COUNTS! TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Amos 6:1a, 4-7 Amos denounces the selfish attitude of those who surround themselves with luxuries with no concern for others. He goes on to warn that because these people lacked interest in the state of their society, they would be the first to be exiled. Second Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-16 Paul tells Timothy to seek integrity, faith and love. Paul urges him to attain everlasting life by maintaining strong faith in Jesus and in God until Jesus returns. Gospel: Luke 16:19-31 Jesus tells of a rich man who feasted daily, while a beggar named Lazarus went hungry outside his gates. When both men died, Lazarus was taken to Abraham, but the rich man was in torment. When he begged for mercy, Abraham reminded him that Lazarus had lived in torment, while the rich man lived in selfish luxury. The man then asked if Lazarus could be sent to his brothers to warn them. But Abraham said if they had not heeded Moses or the prophets, they would ignore even the warning of one risen from the dead Bon Venture Services, Inc.
