2 The Eucharist Welcome to Ely Cathedral this morning. Everyone is very welcome for refreshments after the service near the main door to the Cathedral. Communicant members of all Christian denominations are welcome to receive Communion at this service. The ministry of healing is available this morning. If you would like prayer for yourself or someone else, please go to St Dunstan s Chapel, in the South Transept during the administration of Communion, where one of the clergy and a member of the Pastoral Team will be available to pray with you. There is an Induction Loop in both the North and South Transepts, the Choir and the Presbytery, for those using a hearing aid, and large copies of the service sheet are available on request. 8 THE NICENE CREED Please stand Let us confess our faith in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. We share in the story of God s love for the world, God s love in Christ, calling us to himself, God s love in the Spirit, giving strength for our journey of faith. We celebrate this love in word and song, we feed on Jesus in bread and wine and make him known through our life together. As the people of God in this place, we share the responsibility of encouraging one another in our worship and supporting one another in our discipleship, by our example and our prayers. THE GIVING OF COMMUNION The president invites the people to receive the Holy Communion, saying Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word, and I shall be healed. Communicant members of all Christian churches are welcome to receive Communion. All who are not communicants are invited to come forward for a blessing. Any further information from Sue Holgate, Ely Cathedral Environment Group. sueholgate@hotmail.co.uk ADVENT SLEEPOUT CHALLENGE Saturday 15 December Galilee Porch, 10pm Two Canons of Ely Cathedral will be sleeping out to raise money for homeless charities on 15 December. Canon Jessica Martin and Canon Victoria Johnson are wrapping up warm and sleeping in the Galilee Porch of the Cathedral to raise awareness of the growing problem in Ely and around the country. Canon Johnson said Since 2010, there has been a 169% increase in homelessness people are estimated to sleep rough. We are just trying to do our bit to help and we hope people will sponsor the event generously. In 2015, a team from Ely Cathedral raised over 11,000 for the cause and they are hoping to raise as much this year. Canon Martin and Canon Johnson will be accompanied by their respective dogs, Gonzo and Percy. This lunch is for anyone who would like to join us for whatever reason. We are looking for donations of readymade desserts, things like individual Christmas pudding, mince pies and the like. You can ring or me or do it via the Box Office and someone will contact you about your donation.
