Its most striking features are od's ability and desire to reverse roles of mighty ith poor, giving hope to loly, from hom a great king ill come to save nation. In ords of Walter Breuhggemann, an merican Protestant Old Testament scholar and ologian (b. 1933), this canticle celebrates "poer and illingness of Yaheh to intrude, intervene and invert." The Haaiian percussion parts in score are a simple but insistent pattern that help convey a sense of steadiness and persistence. Yaheh's desire to be among us is as persistent as a drumbeat, moving heart to hope and courage. Robert M.
