What made the situation different was that the parishioner asking the question was 92. My mind flashed, What answer can I possibly give this dear woman? She has lived two fantastic lives compared to mine. I tried hard not to let my worry play out on my face, and I gave my best answer. It s the inner workings of the Holy Spirit in our day-to-day moments, which over time allows us to move closer to godliness and further away from sin. She looked me in the eyes and said, It seems all my life I ve had lots of questions and am continually looking for answers. Maybe that is what s gotten you this far, I said. 3 VIGIL THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 4:30 PM THIS SUNDAY, November 4, at 4:30 pm, we are invited to join the Beth Israel Congregation and others across the Midcoast region in a vigil to stand together against anti-semitism, racism and hate. Attendees are encouraged to bring a candle. Candles will also be available on a first come basis in the back of Father Ted's tan Subaru. 4 Continuing Our Education on Homelessness in Bath and Exploring Possible Solutions TUESDAY NOVEMBER 13, 6:30 8:00 pm Meeting #6 - November 13: Presentations on other possible actions to alleviate homelessness in Bath. The teams that were formed on April 25th will share their research and ideas. The meeting will be held at Bath City Hall. For more information, contact Nancy Chandler, Grace's Fall Clean Up As the weather turns colder and the leaves fall, it is time for us to put our grounds to bed for the winter. Please come to the fun Fall Clean up NEXT SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10 from 9 to 11 AM. We will rake leaves, pick up debris and spruce things up! If available, please bring rakes, large tarps, loppers, a garden cart and trash barrels. We will have coffee, tea, cider, and some goodies to keep the crew will fed!!! Antonio Lucio Vivaldi There will be a Vivaldi "Gloria" open rehearsal on, Sunday, November 11, at 12 noon until 1:30. This is an excellent opportunity for you to check out the choir and invite friends and community. The Gloria is a beautiful work and is accessible to those who are new to choral singing. 5 Dear Grace Church Family, Our Outreach Journey continues, and the time has come to disburse funds for Colleen, Fr. Ted and I met recently and decided to use the same procedure as last year to help us determine which organizations Grace will support. To submit a request for support from Outreach, please provide the following: Name of the organization to be supported (with mailing address) - Amount being requested - Whether or not Grace has funded this program in previous years - The requester s relationship with the organization - The ways in which you believe the program reflects the mission of the church - A brief statement indicating why Grace should support the program - All requests must be submitted to the office by Sunday, November 18 th to receive full consideration. If you would like to participate in the decision making for this year s funding requests, please join us on Tuesday, December 4th at 4:00 pm. Palestinian olive oil makes a special holiday gift and comes in different flavors and sizes. The company Canaan Palestine also sells almonds, herb mixes, edible grains, and honey. If you re interested in learning more about what is available, check out the website canaanpalestine.com and let me know what interests you. If there is sufficient interest, I plan to put in an order for products in early November. 6 All Saints Day Celebration Sunday November 4 th The Children s Church will be participating with a special program highlighting many of the Saints of God at the 10:15 service. They will be participating with the choir in the procession and the recession. This will be a wonderful celebration with lots of music and community participation. Bring a picture of your saints and loved ones to be placed in front of the altar at each service. Reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 am Sunday, 3 November. So be sure to turn BACK your clocks one hour before going to bed on Saturday night to make sure that you won t miss any of the All Saints celebration. And while you re at it, replace any batteries you may have in smoke or CO detectors in your house. Play it safe! Reminder: Grace Church continues to collect non-food items for the Little Flock Program. There is a basket in the Narthex where items can be placed; they will be taken to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for clients to pick up. Below is a list of the items that they distribute on the 2 nd & 4 th Wednesdays of the month at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 889 High Street, Bath. (The next two dates are Wednesdays 14 and 28 November). This program is open to the area communities including Georgetown. The items listed are not able to be purchased with Food Stamps, so this is a much appreciated and needed program. Thank you, as always, for your support and generosity.
