1 From the President When you are inspired dormant forces, faculties, and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be. --Patanjali Author Dr. Wayne Dyer thinks of the word Inspiration as meaning being in-spirit ; when we re inspired, it s because we re back in-spirit, fully awake to Spirit within us. Being inspired is an experience of joy: We feel completely connected to our Source and totally on purpose; our creative juices flow, and we bring high energy to our daily life. What inspires you? What inspires us here at Unity Spiritual Life Center? Let s feel that energy within us as individuals and bring that together to share and Inspire each other. We have so much talent and ideas among us to draw upon some of those ideas are being shared through the Imagineers group and are manifesting this month: Movie Night on February 8th (what movie titles will be manifested beyond that?) and Night of Lights towards the end of the month (see body of newsletter for details). Speaking of inspiration let us keep our joy and being in-spirit alive in seeing and feeling the presence of our new minister. Even though we repeat our affirmation each Sunday are we feeling it? Are we saying the words with conviction and heart? As you read the following words feel them: We affirm our new minister is love in action, wise, joyous, a dynamic leader, open hearted and an inspiring leader. We see it, we claim and affirm it. And so it is. Thank you God! And if you want to kick it up a notch you can add something like: A new minister is on their way now and will be here by April. We, here at USLC, see our minister walking through the doors with love and acceptance; we see ourselves embracing him/her with open arms. Affirmations are positive statements of Truth. By affirming Truth we are lifted out of false thinking into the consciousness of Spirit. Each time we pray positively and faithfully, we are calling forth the divine activity that is always within us thus we are Inspired. Giving thanks in advance, we claim Truth for ourselves, remaining open and receptive to the highest good for all. February 27 The Healing Power of Laughter and Play Guest Speaker: Dot Bristow The editors of Reader Digest were on to something many years ago, as one the sections was titled Laughter Is the Best Medicine. It now seems that modern-day science and medical studies are finally catching up with this concept! Laughter is invigorating for the body, the mind and the soul. Let s explore the wonderful benefits of laughing together! 5 Ready or Not, It s Time to Learn (or Practice) I ve been a student of something most, if not all, of my life. We all have. Here at Earth School - as author Gary Zukav calls it, we are here to learn. While studying in my first year of Healing Arts education, I heard the quote, When the Student is ready, the teacher will appear. It has a profound and mystical sense to it but true as well. When we are ready, whether we think we are or not, the teacher and/or lessons come in. I take on faith that the Universe has Divine Order and we are a part of it. Timing is a God thing. Ready or Not- the lessons are coming, it s just easier to go with it. There is also a flip to this quote, which I learned later, after my Healing Arts classes were over.and suddenly, I found myself on my own, lacking some confidence, having some anxiety and wondered How am I going to do this? My teacher/mentor was amazing and I will never be able to do as well as she did. What if I mess up? And all the other tapes our imaginations can create. I learned this: When the student is ready, the teacher will disappear. Then it is time to practice what you ve learned because the only way to really know something is to have the opportunity to practice it. Which means, the teacher s role is now up to the student; so they can flounder a little, find their footing, practice their skill to become proficient. Not unlike what we are doing now in our church with our teacher retired. It is time for us to practice what we know. Meditate on our Unity Principles, but not only meditate. Practice them. Breathe in Divine Timing. There is as much for us to learn in the absence of a teacher as there is in presence of one. The Universe will make as much space for us to do this as we need. What can we learn? What Unity Principles can you focus on practicing? There is nothing to fear, it s all in the mind. We have all the tools we need to create something even more fantastic than we ve known before. We just need to pull them out and use them. Let s Meditate on That. There Denver Moore (Djimon Hounsou), a homeless exconvict, helps him to change his life. 7 A Night of Lights This new annual event will be a time for our spiritual community to gather together to honor those in our community who have made their transition. We will share memories and raise a toast to them. Those to be honored this year are: George Beetchenow, Mary Howell, Elsine Stenberg and Bobbie Wright. Join us Sunday, February 24 at 7:00pm Light refreshments will be served. VALENTINE S DAY SILENT AUCTION Silent auction items are still needed. Please bring them to Chris office with a brief description and starting bid. UNITY'S Metaphysical Event Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 am 4:00 pm Sign up sheets are out for the Planning/Organizing Volunteers and for Vendors interested in purchasing a space. This is going to be a great event! We have speakers and exciting vendors! For the vendors: Please sign up on the sheet and fill out a Vendor Form. Spaces are $30 for a 6 x8 space. Your items or service must be related to metaphysical or wellness. For the volunteers: We need people to supply light snacks for our vendors, watch booths if someone needs a break the day of, help with set up and clean up.
