The purpose of spiritual practices The spiritual path is for brave seekers who desire to be of greater service to mankind; it is not for people simply in search of temporary comfort and solace. Spiritual practitioners are also expected to be dynamic, courageous and intelligent. This is evident from the lives of some of the great Masters like Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, Lord Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed who were not only great spiritual Masters, but were warriors and rulers as well. In The origin of modern Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga, Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui states: The purpose of Arhatic Yoga is to produce intelligent, compassionate, good hearted, powerful disciples who will become great Divine servants to accelerate the evolutionary development of the soul, so that a person may be of greater service to mankind and the planet earth. This statement clearly spells out the qualities needed to make meaningful contribution to the world. Doing spiritual practices for peace of mind or developing psychic powers alone will result in energy congestion that will eventually manifest as physical ailments and emotional imbalances; and will make you experience stagnation in your material and spiritual growth. There is an inspiring episode in the great Indian epic Mahabharata on facing challenges of life: Once Krishna and his brother Balrama were crossing a forest. The night had set and they had to wait till dawn to continue the journey. Krishna said to Balrama, I will rest for a while and you be on watch. Wake me up when you want to rest. When the demon screamed, Balrama shrank in size, and the monster became bigger in size. Again the demon screamed and Balrama became even smaller, and the demon larger than before. When the demon screamed again, Balram became very small and fell unconscious. When Krishna woke up, he saw Balrama lying and thought he was sleeping and so stood up to guard the place. The demon appeared again and screamed. Krishna asked the demon, What do you want? The courage of Krishna made the demon shrink, making Krishna big. It screamed again and Krishna asked, What do you want? The demon became even smaller, and Krishna became larger. The third time when the demon screamed, Krishna again asked, What do you want? This time the demon became tiny and fell unconscious. Later Balram woke up and asked Krishna, Where is the demon. Pointing to the demon Krishna asked, Are you asking about him? Balrama said, But when I saw him last, he was huge. Krishna smiled and said: When you avoid facing what you must face, it becomes bigger than you and takes control over you. When you face what you must face, you become bigger than it and you take control over it.

The Amazing Power For Healing, Self- Empowerment, Personal Growth And Spiritual Development Reiki is a gentle, nonintrusive healing technique that is safe for babies, children and adults of all ages. It forms part of energy medicine within the scope of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies. 4 For Reiki level 1 practioners Reiki is a Japanese laying on hands natural healing system that was rediscovered in the early 1920s by a Japanese Buddhist Dr Mikao Usui.
