3 Our spring programming includes a wide variety of opportunities for listening, receptivity, and contemplative practices, which are vitally important in today s noisy and strident culture. CLASSES & WORKSHOPS All Well for the Journey programs are inclusive and open to everyone, no matter where you are on your own journey. Introduction to the Practice of Forgiveness What is forgiveness and how can it lead to a better life? Learn about common misconceptions of forgiveness, explore the dimensions of forgiveness, and gain insight into how shifting from resentment to release can lead to improved health and spiritual well-being. Thursday, Feb. 15, 6:30-8:30 pm Leader: Mabeth Hudson Cost: $30 Practicing Forgiveness How can forgiveness be integrated into your daily life? This three-part series will address the practical dimensions of forgiveness and give you tools to shift from resentment to release. Learn how to become more forgiving in relationships with others and self. Prerequisite: Introduction to the Practice of Forgiveness. 4 CLASSES & WORKSHOPS Lectio and Lunch for Lent: A Morning of Quiet Prayer and Reflection on Scripture Co-sponsored by Well for the Journey and the Benedictine Sisters of Baltimore Enjoy a morning exploring Lectio, an ancient form of sacred reading that invites you to ruminate with a small piece of scripture, allowing it to dwell deeply in your mind and heart. You are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. We will provide coffee, tea, and water. Conscious Aging is a program developed by the Institute of Noetic Sciences that offers guidance and community to shift our consciousness on aging away from selflimitation and fear into wholeness, connection, and compassion. Exploratory Workshop Are you curious about Conscious Aging? Learn more about this valuable, practical approach. We will listen to our inner wisdom, integrate inspirational ideas and best practices, share in meaningful conversation circles, and tap into the collective wisdom of the group. No introductory class required. Enjoy a slow walk through nature designed to replenish your soul. Begin in community with guided reflections, walk in silence at your own pace, and conclude with shared observations and insights. Thursday, May 3, 9:30 am-12 pm Leader: Lorie Conway, MA Cost: $35 Nature, Spirit, and Well-being Co-sponsored by Well for the Journey and Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative How does a relationship with nature affect a person s experience of spirituality and psychological well-being? Many people encounter spirit in nature and consequently experience consolation and nourishment, beauty, solitude, and well-being. This workshop will review current research on the relationship between nature, spirituality, and well-being, and help you deepen your relationship with nature through guided meditation as well as experiential and journaling exercises. Saturday, May 5, 10-11:30 am Leader: Dr. Heidi Schreiber-Pan Cost: $25 Journaling 101 The practice of journaling provides an opportunity to look inwardly and reflect on aspects of your life. In this workshop, participants learn simple prompts for journal entries as well as tips and strategies for making journaling part of their regular routine. All participants receive a personal journal as well as examples of each strategy. Time is provided for participants to ask questions and discuss journaling reflections and insights. 8 RENEWAL DAYS The Welcoming Way Practice How can we be more open to God and learn to welcome life as it is instead of as we want it to be? Sometimes our desires or expectations for the way life should be impede our ability to receive God. Drawing from Thomas Keating s Welcoming Prayer and a variety of contemplative and creative exercises we will explore ways to welcome life. Learning to let go of that which inhibits prayer and listening helps us to open ourselves to God in our daily life. Bring a brown bag lunch; drinks and fresh snacks provided. Saturday, Mar. 24, 9:30 am-3:30 pm Leader: Ginny Barnhart Cost: $75 (includes drinks and fresh snacks) The Enneagram for Couples To help create a thriving relationship, two people must understand and accept each other s basic personality traits. This is where we click and clash in our relationships. The Enneagram can be an invaluable tool as a spiritual road map to greater intimacy with ourselves and each other. Join us for a day of exploration of our Enneagram types both individually and as a couple. Grow as you gain new insights for navigating your relationship by understanding the strengths and challenges you share as a couple. Open to spouses, life partners, engaged, or dating couples. Free online test is required prior to the workshop. 9 SPIRITUAL COMPANIONING Women at the Well Joyful Living in Stressful Times How can we cultivate joy as a way of being, and not just a temporary feeling? Drawing from the bestselling book, The Book of Joy, by the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Abrams (no text required, but could be beneficial), we will explore the science and practical dimensions of joy and learn how to cultivate joy in daily life. Wednesdays, 9:30-11:30 am: Mar. 7, 14, 21, 28, Apr. 4, 11 Thursdays, 10 am-12 pm: Mar. 15, 22, (skip 29), Apr. 5, 12, 19, 26 Cost: $150 if paid at least one week in advance; $170 for late registration Welcome to the Well! If you have any questions about our programs, please call the office at Our Definition of Spirituality At the Well, we define spirituality as the aspect of humanity that refers to the way that people seek and express meaning and purpose, experience their connectedness to the significant or the sacred, and experience their connectedness to the moment, to self, to others, and to nature. Spirituality is associated with hope, inner peace, compassion, and finding meaning. Spirituality is broader than religion; religion can be part of one s spirituality, but that is not always so. Cancellation Policy There are no refunds of registration fees except for instances when the Well cancels a program due to insufficient registration or inclement weather. Fees can be applied toward a future program. Inclement Weather Policy The Well generally follows Baltimore County Public Schools decisions. If Baltimore County is delayed, morning programs are canceled. When Baltimore County schools are closed, programs are also canceled. Sometimes facilitators will make a decision to go forward with a program depending on the road conditions and will contact participants individually.
