In this series, we will explore the Old and New Testament readings used in the service, probing their consonance in the day s sermon, the historical and theological theories regarding the original meaning and context of the passages, and their in life in the 21st century. The discussion will be led by congregant Anne Hill. The text of the readings will be provided. 7

We are very grateful for all she has done in the planning of religious events at Stanford; for all her 'behind the scenes' work on University Public Worship; and for her excellent coordination of the visits of distinguished choirs and other performers to Memorial Church. We thank her for three years of dedication to our office's mission, her enthusiasm for our multi-faith and inter-faith work, and for being a much-valued colleague. We wish Vanessa the very best as she embarks on this new and exciting adventure. 9
