Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. 3 Dear Parishioners, Next week, we will celebrate Saint Meinrad Sunday, I must express that I have always admired how Saint Meinrad continues to move forward in its commitment to quality academic and spiritual formation programs for priests, permanent deacons and lay ministers. This commitment has allowed them to not only survive but also thrive during the past 160 years. Our Diocese and our parishes benefit from the training Saint Meinrad provides for Priests, Deacons and the laity. Deacon Jerry, Deacon John and I received our training at Saint Meinrad. Several of our young people have attended the annual leadership conference, One Bread One Cup. On both a local and parish level it is clear Saint Meinrad has made lasting positive affects. I will be forever grateful to the formation and continued support that I receive from all on that Holy Hill. Saint Meinrad continues to serve not only this area but the whole world. This year over 160 seminarians are enrolled at Saint Meinrad preparing for Priesthood. God is answering our prayers for priests. I encourage you to think about helping Saint Meinrad as they continue to serve the Church in preparing others to be leaders. Please keep Saint Meinrad in your prayers, visit Saint Meinrad, and if you can please support them in their ministry. We all benefit from their work in preparing the laity, Deacons and Priests. This is a short 5 week study that will teach us to appreciate the beauty of the Mass and priesthood. This will be held at 6:15pm in the rectory. All are welcome. St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry is a collaborative effort between Holy Family Parish, Precious Blood Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish and is for middle and high school teens. Upcoming Bosco Events: High School Youth Nights are every Sunday from 6:00-8:00pm Every last Tuesday of the month we go to Azura for a bagel breakfast and prayer before school. This is a liturgical conference that empowers youth who are interested in the Mass to learn more about it and grow in their own participation of it. $100 deposit reserves your spot. July 17-21: ND Vision at Notre Dame - deadline to register is March 1st. Adult Chaperones are needed for Catholic Heart Work Camp, One Bread, One Cup and ND Vision. Engaged Encounter is a weekend experience with other engaged couples that affords time alone together to plan for sacramental marriage. Trained facilitators will lead the program on February 11 and 12, April 29 and 30 or September 17 and 18 at the Sarto Retreat Center. For marriage preparation resources, more information, or to register, call Catholic Charities at or visit engaged-encounter.html. Father Gary encourages all engaged couples to attend one of these weekends before getting married. The Ireland Volunteer Fire Department is looking for volunteers to join the department. Volunteers must be between the ages of 21 and 35 and be willing to become a First Responder. For more information, call Scott Schnell at or talk to any Ireland Volunteer Fireman. The St. John Bosco Youth Ministry Paoli Peaks Ski and tubing trip will be Friday, February 10. We will leave the Precious Blood parking lot at 4:00pm and return at 11:00pm. Please bring your own snacks/ drinks or money to purchase refreshments while you are there. Cost for skiing is $53: that includes your lift ticket, your rental and 5 hours of skiing. If you want a ski lesson, add an additional $3. If you rent clothing to ski in, add an additional $9. Cost for tubing is $35: that includes your lift ticket and 4 hours of tubing. All paperwork and fees must be submitted to the parish office by the end of business day on Friday, February 3. Due to the RSVP nature of this event, late paperwork/fees will not be accepted. Please see our website for downloadable forms and more info: A concert of sacred music will be performed at Monastery Immaculate Conception Church in Ferdinand by the University of Notre Dame Folk Choir on Sunday, January 15 at 7:00pm. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free. The ensemble sings a wide variety of sacred repertoire, and is know for creative programming, appreciation of world music, and the creation of new music fore the Catholic Church.

Wilderness Outreach Men's Adventure Retreat Last Summer Tom Brames, Kevin Olinger and Deacon Ken Johanning from Divine Mercy Parish (formerly St. Anthony and Sacred Heart) went to the Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming with the Wilderness Outreach group. They spent a week there clearing hiking trails that had become unusable, praying, and sharing in the evenings about what it means to be a Catholic man in today's world. They are planning on doing another one of these trips this Summer and want to get a larger group of men from the area to go. On Sunday, January 15 th, John Bradford, who started this organization, will be doing a presentation after the 10:00 AM Mass at St. Anthony Church in St. Anthony. This will provide an opportunity to ask questions and get more information. These trips are for all men, particularly good for young men with families, seminarians, or any man considering entering seminary to become a priest. You do a lot of manual work, spend time in prayer, and consider your manhood. Go to wildernessoutreach.net to learn more.
