There are not, on the one hand, contemplative aristocrats of the Christian life, and, on the other hand, the foot soldiers of the apostolic ministry. Jesus answer to Martha is in no way intended to absolve those who would identify themselves solely with Mary. However, with Martha, occupied by a multiplicity of tasks, Jesus asks only one thing: to listen to his word in order to put it into practice. All disciples meet the same challenge to balance service and contemplation. Zacchaeus, a model for the Christian disciple, gives half his material goods to the poor (Luke 19:8). The women who follow Jesus assist him out of their means (Luke 8:1-3). Yet contemplation of his word is also demanded of his disciples (cf. 10:23-24). Nor are women to be restricted only to women s work. They too, with men, are called to listen to his word. MISSION CO-OP, JULY The Sisters of St. Francis missioners will be speaking after Communion at Sunday Masses the weekend of July The Sisters serve those who are poor, with foreign missions in Mexico and home missions in Appalachia. In remote areas of Mexico they work to build faith communities where there are no priests for regular Sunday Masses. Sisters also give children living in extreme poverty the opportunity to obtain an education plus emergency needs of food and medicine. Appalachian ministries include faith development and pastoral care, adult literacy and emergency outreach of food, clothing and shelter for the poor. Please help make a difference in the lives of people suffering from poverty with your prayers and financial support. Camp is open to children Kindergarten through 4th grade. They will participate in a variety of activities including reading, math, social games, character building, teamwork, arts & crafts, music & movement, hands-on science experiments and lots of interactive outdoor learning: Dates are: July 19, 20, 21; July 26, 27, 28 and August 2, 3, 4. FAITH FORMATION hs2faithformation@zoominternet.net FAITH FORMATION SUNDAY SESSIONS Faith Formation Sunday Sessions are open to all parish children grades K - 8 who do not attend Holy Sepulcher School or another Catholic School. It is offered on Sunday from 9:10 am - 10:20 am or 11:40 am - 12:50 pm. In this program, catechists assist parents in sharing our faith with the children. Books and supplies are provided along with a loving atmosphere to grow in God s love and the Catholic Faith. Prayers are learned, Saints are discovered, service projects are completed and the wholeness of the faith is experienced. Please call the Faith Formation Office at for class availability. There is never a time, though, when we are not searching for more hands and hearts to share the rewarding work of leading the young people in the parish to a full relationship with Jesus. Please leave any donations in the coat room marked Bazaar. CALLING ENTERTAINERS Have you been blessed with vocal or instrumental ability or other type of entertaining talent? If so, plan to share your skill at our parish bazaar this year. Please contact Patty Klein at if you are interested in performing. We hope to finalize our entertainment schedule by the end of July so that the list of performers may be published prior to the bazaar. Please don t delay in signing up for this event. Thank you. KIDS WORLD AT THE CHURCH BAZAAR The Kids World Booth is looking for donations of stuffed animals and other small prize toys for the Kids World Booth at the Church Bazaar. Any items can be placed in the coat room in the church marked "Kids World". Please be sure stuffed animals and other toys are clean and gently used or even new! BAZAAR RAFFLE TICKETS Thank you to everyone who has returned their raffle tickets. Additional books of tickets are available at the parish office and in the Narthex. All tickets (sold and unsold should be returned to the Parish Office by July 31). The tickets are $2.00 /each or $30.00 / book. Thank you for your continued support of our annual Bazaar.
