2 In one sense a Chinese teacup or some dried tea leaves are just objects without any real value; however, in the early modern world these objects conveyed considerable status on their owners. Why did these items convey prestige and draw up a list explaining your reasons. Think along these lines: What about their acquisition might bring prestige? What about their display or use might bring prestige? What is it that conveys status from an object to the person who possesses it? What items convey status in your social world (create a list)? What about the items has changed and what about the items have stayed the same? Does the distance that the item had to travel still convey status? What about the rarity of the item? What explains the differences, if any, from then to now?
