1 Eisenhower Church of Christ High School Graduate Edition Hannah Weakland Hannah is the daughter of Allen & Christy Weakland. She resides at 4645 Conley Avenue, Odessa, TX and has attended the Eisenhower Church of Christ for eight years. Hannah will be graduating from Odessa High School on Friday, June 5th, 2015 and will be attending Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN this fall. Hannah plans on majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Music Performance. Her future plan is to become a Canine Officer. Her high school accomplishments include playing three years in the Symphony Orchestra and three years in the Chamber Orchestra. Hannah also was a volunteer on the Teen Court for two years. Her special musical talents includes playing the guitar, piano and cello and bass. The fun things she loves to do is camping, hunting and outdoors. We would like to extend to Hannah lots of well wishes and prayers for the future. Haley Nichole Erwin Haley is the daughter of Scott Erwin and Carie Basaldua. She resides at 17ll Emerald, Odessa, TX and has attended the Eisenhower Church of Christ approximately twelve years. Haley will be graduating from Permian High School Saturday, June 6th, Her future plans are to attend Odessa College for two years for her basics and then transfer to UTPB to finish her degree in Child Psychology. Haley plans to counsel school age children. Her studies of interest include psychology, nursing and performance. Haley was an officer for the Panther Paws dance team for junior varsity ( ) and was on the dance team for two years. Haley cherishes the time she can spend with her family especially taking trips. She also enjoys being with her friends and shopping. Good luck and continued blessings to Haley for the future. The Impact of Evolution on Bible Interpretation (Part 2) The naturalistic Man in one shape or fashion has denied the existence of God and the authority of His Word. He trumpets that everything is material and non-spiritual, also that this physical realm is all we have and/or need. However, because of this and man s perpetual decline resulting in disobedience and a lack of trust in God s Word, he has grown cold to absolute truth and a moral standard found therein and has established his own righteousness (Romans 10:1-3). There are two types of naturalism, (1) metaphysical naturalism and (2) methodological naturalism, both of these are a disgrace to the biblical conclusions of the scriptures stating that God doesn t exist and His help is not needed. In addition, when God is rejected, man is respected thus causing the confusion that has been going on for hundreds of years. In conclusion, the attacks upon the scriptures concerning evolution are alarming and unacceptable when the evidence is laid bare. This demonic teaching emasculates the authority of God and His Holy Word. Naysayers are usually attempting to thwarted God s word because of unbelief (Hebrews 3:19). For this reason the Christian must study to show himself approved unto God...they must intelligently search the scriptures acutely to be able to ward off the gainsayer (2 Timothy 2:1). If there were a chance of evolution being true, then there would not be a reason to believe, honor, worship and serve our God. Let God be true. Mike Bonner I

2 Sympathy Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Lavern & James Couch in the loss of their granddaughter, Amber Michelle Couch. Amber passed from this life on Tuesday, May 12th at the Medical Center Hospital after a long illness. Her funeral services were held Monday, May 18th at Acres West Funeral Chapel and interment at Los Angeles Gardens Section of Ector County Cemetery. Amber was 30 years old and mother of three sons and a daughter. Prayer Requests Nancy Fisher was taken to the ER at Medical Center Hospital by the emergency squad early Wednesday morning, May 13th. She was admitted and was able to go home Friday evening. Nancy was diagnosed with severe vertigo. She will have physical therapy at her home. Sylvia Campos is requesting prayers for little Katie Limer who is eight years old and lives in Grand Prairie, TX. She has been suffering from Niemann-Pick type C disease which is fatal. Hospice has been called in. The same disease claimed the life of her brother at the age of 12 Mac Bradford, Julie Driver s friend, has been diagnosed with cancer. She has requested prayers for him. Please continue to keep Jack Wright s youngest brother, T.J. Wright and his wife Cindi in your daily prayers as he goes through chemo treatments for his cancer. Mark Erwin, Linda Tate s brother, underwent surgery on his carotid artery Friday, May 15th in Lubbock. His surgery went well and he is home recuperating. Jim Craig has requested prayers for Michelle who lives in Arizona and was diagnosed with cancer Thursday, May 14th. Concerns Update Glenna McCarty has been moved back to room #314 for physical therapy. Her knee replacement surgery went very well but she developed a blood pressure problem that had to be dealt with first. Andrea Berry, Bill & Vickie Ryan s daughter, is doing okay after having virus in her intestines. Lana Howard s replacement surgery on May 14th went well. She is home recuperating. Lana is Joni Bates sister. Benevolence Remember the New Mexico Christian Children s Home truck will pick up on Tuesday, June 2nd. The two items requested are Cinnamon and Cream of Wheat. Also there are several collect Coin Cans on the table. They will also accept monetary donations. Office News A Work Day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 30th. Please come prepared to do some organizing, repairing and painting at the church building. Strengthening the Family Group #4 will meet in the annex for a luncheon following the service this morning, Sunday, May 24th. All our visitors are welcome.
