For us, there are the four standard prayers, three for Masses with Children, and the most recent addition, the former Swiss Eucharistic Prayer with four alternative forms (now known as the Eucharistic Prayer for Masses for Various Needs and Occasions). We also have two Eucharistic Prayers for Masses of Reconciliation. The source for these two prayers is the request by many bishops for a special prayer for the "Holy Year" of Originally, the committee in charge was commissioned to write a single prayer, but the theme proved so rich that it gave rise to two. The first is based on and develops biblical texts on reconciliation. The second starts with the experience of living in today's fractured world, and how the Spirit calls us to reconciliation and peace. Not everyone was happy with all this creativity, saying that if too many were published, it would be difficult for the Vatican to control further requests. Everyone thought the pope would put strict limits on the prayers, but in the end he said he was willing to open doors that had long been closed. Although he approved them for a period of only three years, they were never formally removed from the Sacramentary and have been incorporated into the new Roman Missal. -Rev. 3 NOVEMBER 19, PARISH NEWS Did You Know The Ministry Center will be closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks to all who came to the Taco Dinner/Tailgate fundraiser. We had a great time (except for the Chiefs loss) and we made around $1200 to help with the Ministry Center Basement renovation. Progress is being made, and we were able to go over during half time and see what has been done. Knights of Columbus Breakfast This Sunday, November 19th We re still in need of more money to help finish this project. There will be another fundraiser this Sunday, November 19 th to help. The Knights of Columbus will be serving a delicious breakfast in the school cafeteria after the 8:00 & 10:30 Masses. All proceeds will again go toward the renovation. Calendars for Nursing Homes We are collecting 2018 calendars to be delivered to nursing home residents in mid-december. If you would like to donate a 2018 calendar, note pads or stickers, please drop them in the receptacle in the hospitality kitchen in the back of church. We will pick them up weekly. All sizes in every description are appreciated. We have 2 wheelchairs and hearing assist devices available for your use during mass. Please contact an usher. Gluten-free hosts are available. This is the only Christmas gift these residents receive. Please help fill the containers. We need the following travel size items: wrapped hard candy 5-stick pack of gum cheese/peanut butter crackers Chocolate peppermint patties bite-size chocolate candy Pocket size Kleenex toothbrush Also cash would be greatly appreciated in order to purchase some of these items and craft supplies. We will accept donations now through December 8th. As members of Nativity of Mary School we are all asked to assist in the needs of the parish. At this time we are in need of servers at all weekend masses. If you have a child who is in fourth grade, or older, please have your child sign up to be an altar server by contacting Mary Jo Nafus in the church office, She can be reached by at, mnafus@nativityofmary.org or phone at Here are a few words from Pope Francis on the importance of being a server at mass. Please help Nativity of Mary Church reach our goal of filling the schedule for altar servers each month. Thank you! 1st and 2nd grade did an awesome job on their pumpkin book reports! They decorated their pumpkins to look like a character from their selected book. 6th grade's saint projects were perfect for All Saints Day and their bottle saints turned out great.

6 NOVEMBER 19, THE THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME "Which servant am I?" Imagine being one of the servants in the parable we hear today from the Gospel of Matthew. We can feel the pride of the first two servants, who wisely used the talents given to them. We imagine the fear and shame of the third, who did not. The servants were given different sums of money, according to their ability. None was given more than what he was capable of handling. Yet only two made the talents they were given fruitful. As a result, these two heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy." As we hear the parable, we must wonder, "Which servant am I?" THE MASTER The master in the parable of the three servants may sound harsh, until we reflect on the story from his perspective. It was his money. He had entrusted it to the servants. They obviously knew what was expected of them, and two fulfilled their duties well. Their master was wise to entrust his treasure to them. Through their faithful stewardship, the talents increased. Hearing the parable this way, we must consider Jesus' meaning in telling it. We do not know when our Master, Christ our Lord, will return. What we do know is that God has entrusted many gifts to us and expects that we will be good and faithful stewards of them all. THE SERVANT The servants in the parable were entrusted with their master's wealth. The talents were not theirs, yet they were called to make the talents fruitful in their master's absence. They were expected to treat the talents as though they were their own. Our gifts--life, talents, financial and material resources--truly are God's. We are entrusted with these gifts and are expected to use them well, to make Christ's presence known in the world. Like the woman in today's passage from the book of Proverbs, we are to "work with loving hands," reaching out to the poor and extending our arms to the needy (Proverbs 31:20) through the ways in which we use the time, resources, talents, and gifts that God has entrusted to us. Notice that the third servant in the Gospel parable, the one deemed "wicked" and "lazy," did not misuse his talent. He simply buried it. What talent, gift, or resource are you using well? What gift have you buried? It is time to dig it up, dust it off, and start using it as "children of the light and children of the day" (1 Thessalonians 5:6). Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Company Psalms of Praise and Thanksgiving The Thanksgiving holiday is an excellent time to rediscover the psalms of praise and thanksgiving. When you find a quiet moment, sit and relax with your bible. Think of a time when awe and gratitude overwhelmed you. Maybe it was a sunrise, or children playing in a park, an inspirational hymn at Mass, a family gathering, or a walk in the woods. Remember how you appreciated that special moment. Then, open your bible to one of the psalms of thanksgiving and recite it to yourself, like Psalm 118 for instance: Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Listen to the words. Close your eyes. Let the psalm speak to you. Other psalms of praise and thanksgiving you might consider include psalms 92, 95, 98, 100, 103, 104, 105, 107, 111, 117, 145, and 147. Whatever psalm you choose for that quiet moment, thank God for that special time of awe as well as all the good things in your life, and praise God for his glorious deeds.

However, they are overstocked with canned vegetables to last for years, so they are asking for help in collecting the following food items for their pantry... See list below. ASKING AND GOD S GIVING I asked for Strength, and God gave me Difficulties to make me strong. I asked for Wisdom, and God gave me Problems to solve. I asked for Prosperity, and God gave me Work. I asked for Courage, and God gave me Danger to overcome. I asked for Love, and God gave me Troubled People to help. I asked for Favors, and god gave me Opportunities to do good works.
