Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Music Gathering: #455: Once in Royal David's City Offertory #445: Infant Holy, Infant Lowly Communion #463 : We Three Kings of Orient Are Sending Forth #428 : Go Tell It in the Mountain Weekly Collection December 18th 2016 The average cost to run the parish is $9,800 per week. Our expectation is that 70% or $6,800 will come from the weekly offertory. Parishioners contributed $6,526 for the week ending December 18th. Grand Annual Campaign As of December 23rd we have collected $74,158 from 138 parishioners. Thank you to all who have already given to this year s campaign. Help Wanted Our 20 year old son Aidan has Down Syndrome and Autism and we are looking for an energetic, lively caring person who can be a friend to him and support him while he doing his activities. We need someone who is available for one day a week (1-4 hours) and can drive. You will be paid. If you are interested or know a suitable person please contact Siobhan and Brendan Murphy at Inclement Weather Policy for Faith Formation Classes and Youth Ministry Activities: With winter well upon us, please take note of our inclement weather policy. For Sunday morning Faith Formation classes, OLOS staff will make a decision by 8:15 a.m. regarding whether or not classes will be held. If they decide to hold classes, no further actions will be taken. If they decide not to hold classes, a message will be posted by 8:15 a.m. on the homepage of the parish website. For Sunday evening and Wednesday evening Middle School and Confirmation Faith Formation classes, as well as other weekday evening activities, OLOS staff will make a decision by 4:00 p.m. and will post a notice of cancellation on the website. If there is no posted notification, classes will proceed as usual. Please check the parish website any morning with questionable weather. Of course, you know the circumstances of your family and location best. Please consider your particular circumstances when deciding whether or not to attend classes, if they are held. 4 What s Happening at OLOS Coffee Hour Hosts: December 25: NO COFFEE HOUR January 1: NO COFFEE HOUR January 8: Hosted by 4th Grade Young Adult Gathering All college-aged students who are home for Winter Break are invited to a OLOS Youth Ministry Alumni Brunch Gathering on Monday, January 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the Bullock Center. Ring in the new year well by seeing old friends and eating yummy breakfast food. All college-aged students are welcome! For more information, contact Teresa Coda. Mid-Year Service Reflection Evening On Sunday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 11th, the Middle School and Confirmation Faith Formation programs will be gathering from 7:00-8:30 p.m. to learn about the connection between service and justice through a presentation, interactive activities and small group discussion. We would love for adult parishioners as well as middle school and high school students not enrolled in the OLOS Faith Formation program to join us. To learn more, contact Teresa Coda. Winter Youth Retreat All high school students are invited to take a day away to reflect, have fun with OLOS friends, relax and pray at our Winter Youth Retreat from Friday, February 3rd (4:30 p.m.) to Saturday, February 4th (4:30 p.m.) at Sacred Hearts Retreat Center in Wareham, MA. To register, Teresa Coda (tcoda@olossharon.org). The retreat fee is $65, but register by January 10 for a discounted rate of $55. Snow Tubing All middle school and high school students and friends are invited to join in on an OLOS Youth Ministry Snow Tubing adventure! A bus will leave OLOS at 5:30PM and return at approximately 10:30PM on Saturday, January 21st. The fee for this event ($40 for advance registration by January 15th; $50 otherwise) will cover the bus cost and a snow tubing and lift pass at Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA. Please check for a complete calendar of events at OLOS The first Youth Commission sponsored Babysitting Movie Night was a huge success! Many thanks to the children who attended, the teens who hosted, and the parents who supported this new event. Together, we had lots of fun and we raised $180, which will contribute to the Youth Commission s sponsorship of Rolando, a little boy who we sponsor through Children International. Thank you to all those who have served this Advent season! From donating food to our pantry collection, gifts through the Giving Tree, and time, energy and talent through volunteering, our parish has given much. Christmas in the City: 30 Volunteers from OLOS attended this year. What an amazing event! Gift wrapping at My Brother s Keeper Solemnity of Mary
