2 From the Desk of Bishop Thomas S. Lee, Jr. Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving! Thessalonians 5:18 expresses God's explicit will: "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." "It is God's will for you to have a thankful disposition." There is a song that states Every day is a day of thanksgiving, but Thanksgiving Day is a special day in America. It is a time when we take a special day to offer thanksgiving. It is the time to gather with our loved ones and show our appreciation and gratitude. Come Thanksgiving Day, let us not forget to whisper sincere thanks for the gift of life and love that surrounds us. Thanksgiving, itself, is also a duty. The Bible commands us to give thanksgiving unto the Lord. For instance, Psalm 100:4 states, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Psalm 105:1, states, "O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the people." We must take inventory of how great our God is and show constant and continuous appreciation for what He has done, is doing, and has promised to do for our good. The writer in Acts 17:28 states that In Him we live and move and have our being. Without God we can do nothing;; therefore, we must reverence Him at all times. We must keep Him as the central figure in our lives and we will experience great joy and great success in our endeavors. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. 5 A Faith Building Story A certain king needed a faithful servant and had to choose between two candidates for the office. He took both at fixed wages and told them to fill a basket with water from a nearby well, saying that he would come in the evening to inspect their work. After dumping one or two buckets of water into the basket, one of the men said, "What is the good of doing this useless work? As soon as we pour the water in, it runs out the sides." The other answered, "But we have our wages, haven't we? The use is the master's business, not ours. He is a wise King, and must have his own purpose that we do not understand." I'm not going to do such fool's work," replied the complainer. Throwing down his bucket, he went away. The other man continued until he had drained the well. Looking down into it, he saw something shining at the bottom - it was a diamond ring. "Now I see the use of pouring water into the basket!" he exclaimed. "If the bucket had brought up the ring before the well was dry, it would have been filtered out in the basket. The King was looking for his diamond. Our work was not useless." The King found his most faithful servant! The point is, in our lives there are undesirable events that happened or will happen and only God knows why. Regardless, we just need to do what we need to do and remain faithful. 8 Prosperous and Successful Do you want to me prosperous and successful? Of course, you do! Prosperous and successful. No one will reject that offer. Having a prosperous and successful life is the dream of every human on the planet. Money. Cars. Trips. A gazillion things to own. That may seem like a life of prosperity and successes. That is not true prosperity. Frankly, true prosperity and success the way God intended it to be can only be achieved by following God's plan. Joshua 1:8 (New International Version) "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." In another bible, the same verse is paraphrased this way: "And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed." Believe in God's Word.
