1 The Way, The Truth, The Life John 14:6, Eph 4:4-6 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? John 14:1-5 (KJV) 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV) Intro: Jesus was quite exclusive in his preaching. He came to give hope to man, and he is the only hope we have. He is not a way, a truth, a life, but he is The way, The truth, and The life. There is absolutely no access to God or heaven except through Christ! This is it. This is the bottom line. Hebrews 2:3 asks, How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him? If you reject Jesus, there is no other place to go. This is it. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Eph 4:4-6 (KJV) There are three companion verses that I want to show you that illustrate the message of this verse- the way, the truth, the life.

2 I. THE WAY: THIS IS THE WAY- Isaiah 30:21, And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. The only way to heaven is through Christ. He is the way A. The Way To God: v. 6, No man cometh unto the father but by me. I Tim 2:5, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. B. The Way To Heaven: He speaks in our text about going to heaven, and he says that we know the way... in fact he says, I am the way. There is only one door to heaven, and Jesus said in John 10:9, I am the door. C. The Way To Forgiveness: Eph 4:32, even as God for CHRIST S sake hath forgiven you. D. The Way To Peace: Rom 5:1, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Eph 2:14, For he is our peace. E. The Way To Joy: John 15:11, These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. F. The Way To Love: I John 4:8, He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

3 II. THE TRUTH: THIS IS THE BOOK- Gen 5:1-2, This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. There is not another book. There is not another truth. John 1:1-3 demonstrates to us that Jesus and the Bible are inseparable. It is impossible to trust Jesus and not the Bible or to believe the Bible and not trust Jesus. THIS IS THE BOOK 1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:1-3 (KJV) 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:7 (KJV) 14 And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses. 15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan. 2 Chron 34:14-15 (KJV) 21 Go, enquire of the Lord for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do after all that is written in this book. 2 Chron 34:21 (KJV) THIS IS THE BOOK A. The Book About Creation: in the day God created man. Gen 1:1

4 B. The Book About Salvation: John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. We have learned about the salvation plan from the record of the Word of God. C. The Book About Regeneration: This book is quick (alive) and it quickens dead sinners giving them life anew. D. The Book About Sanctification: Ps 119:9, Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. E. The Book About Resurrection: The resurrection of the Savior, of sinners to be alive in Christ, and of the saints in the last day. This Bible is filled with resurrection III. THE LIFE: THIS IS THE BLOOD- Hebrews 9:20, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood. It is in the blood you find life! There was blood: A. For The Son: Gen 4, Able offered a sacrifice that pleased God, for it was a blood sacrifice. The only way to please God is through the blood! B. For The Slaves: Exodus 12, the slaves in Egypt offered a lamb to escape the cruel hand of the death angel. Life for them was in the blood. Life for captives today is still in the blood!

5 C. For The Sinner: John 19:34, they pierced the side of Christ, and forthwith flowed a fountain of blood that is still saving sinners today! There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Emmanuel s veins and sinners plunge beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. Conclusion: Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, the life. He is our only hope. Do you know him? Will you trust him to save your soul? ACTS Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21 (KJV) MK And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
