2 THE ESSENCE OF PRAYER P rayer has been the cornerstone of my life and ministry. Prayer makes power available. Prayer opens pathways where there are none. Prayer brings the presence of God. Prayer makes things possible. Prayer is an asset of life that we cannot afford to lose. I solemnly believe that we all ought to make 'prayer' a custom in our lives. Paul said, st 'Pray without ceasing' (1Thessalonians 5:17). In 1 Timothy 2:8, he said, 'I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.' Philippians 4:6 reads, 'Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.' In Luke 18:1, Jesus 'spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.' Prayer does not necessarily give you a quick fix. However, it will quicken your spirit to do great things. (Greg. Erhabor) Prayer coupled with fasting results in breakthroughs. In Mark 9:29, Jesus said to the disciples, ' This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.' I want to encourage you, in these thirty days, to devote yourself to prayers. The secret of greatness is praying in the secret. Harness it. Give it relevant importance. Make it first priority to you. I believe as we pray God will answer our prayers. I have tagged this period of fasting 'THAT WE MIGHT SEE.' I believe God, that as we tarry in His presence, we will see His power and glory in our days. God bless you. REV. PROF. G. E.
