2 Introduction He!o, my name is A!ison R. The state I picked to research is I!inois. This is my favorite state. What is your favorite state? Can you guess I!inois' state capital? Too late it is Springfield. Do you think I have a lot of people in this state? I!inois has 12,830,632 people. That's a lot! Do you want to know the bi"est city in I!inois? We'! it is Chicago. You may not have known that. The three major cities are Aurora, Rockford, and Springfield. The number of counties are 102. That's a lot, too! The surrounding states are Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

The state flag was adopted in The daughters of American Revolution, displayed the flag with the state seal on it. I have a state nickname also. Can you guess? We'! it is the prairie state. Cool, don't you think? I would like to te! you the state bird. That is a cardinal. I wi! also te! you the state mammal, insect, flower, and tree. The state mammal is a white tailed deer. The state insect is a monarch butterfly. Also, the state flower is a violet and the state tree is a white oak. Emblems
4 Physical description The area is 57,918 sq.mi. Do you think that's a lot? I have four rivers to te! you that are in I!inois. They are Mississippi River, Ohio river, I!inois river, and wabash river. I have two lakes for you to hear. They are, Lake Michigan and rend lake. That's a! my lakes. The highest point is Charles mound at 1,235 feet. I have three cool national parks for you to hear about. They are Michigan national heritage, Lincoln's home, and portage national historic park. Do you know where the state name came $om? We!, I!inois is French for " the i!ini" I!inois is an Algonquin word meaning "the people" or " the men".
