If we can be of service to you, please let us know. OFFERINGS AND TITHES Offerings are our special gifts given to the Lord on special days or occasions or whenever we are moved to do so, for any reason. Tithes are those monetary gifts we return to the Lord on a regular basis as first fruits. We do this in response to His love, and for all the blessings that He gives to us each day. If you are a visitor today, feel free to give an offering to the Lord, but do not feel you need to do so. We pray that the Lord will continue to lead you to give your offerings and tithes in your home congregation. PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP (LUTHER S MORNING PRAYER) I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen. ~ 2 ~

P Almighty God, our Maker and Redeemer, we poor sinners confess unto Thee that we are by nature sinful and unclean and that we have sinned against Thee by thought, word, and deed. Wherefore we flee for refuge to Thine infinite mercy, seeking and imploring Thy grace for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ. C O most merciful God, who hast given Thine only-begotten Son to die for us, have mercy upon us and for His sake grant us remission of all our sins; and by Thy Holy Spirit increase in us true knowledge of Thee and of Thy will and true obedience to Thy Word, to the end that by Thy grace we may come to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. P Almighty God, our heavenly Father, hath had mercy upon us and hath given His only Son to die for us and for His sake forgiveth us all our sins. To them that believe on His name He giveth power to become the sons of God and hath promised them His Holy Spirit. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. Grant this, Lord, unto us all. C Amen. T SERVICE OF THE WORD T INTROIT P For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, C but the way of the wicked will perish. P Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, ~ 4 ~

5 C nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; P but his delight is in the law of the Lord, C and on his law he meditates day and night. P He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, C and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. P The wicked are not so, C but are like chaff that the wind drives away. P Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, C nor the sinners in the congregation of the righteous; P For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, C but the way of the wicked will perish. T SALUTATION AND COLLECT OF THE DAY T P Let us pray: O merciful Lord, You did not spare Your only Son but delivered Him up for us all. Grant us courage and strength to take up the cross and follow Him, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, on God, now and forever. C Amen. Hymn: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God......#262 1) A mighty fortress is our God, A trusty shield and weapon; He helps us free from ev'ry need that hath us now o'ertaken. The old evil foe now means deadly woe; Deep guile and great might are his dread arms in fight; On earth is not his equal. 2) With might of ours can naught be done, soon were our loss effected; But for us fights the Valiant One, Whom God Himself elected. Sermon: My fears increased till sheer despair Left only death to be my share; The pangs of hell I suffered. 4) But God had seen my wretched state. Before the world's foundation, And mindful of His mercies great, He planned for my salvation. He turned to me a father's heart; He did not choose the easy part but gave His dearest treasure. 5) God said to His beloved Son: "It's time to have compassion. Then go, bright jewel of My crown, And bring to all salvation. From sin and sorrow set them free; Slay bitter death for them that they may live with You forever. THE LORD S PRAYER C Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil; For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. 10 THANKSGIVING P Blessed Lord, who hast caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life, which Thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. We ask God to grant each of us wisdom to know Him and courage to follow Him, as we serve Him in daily life. 13 SUNDAY SCHOOL Sunday School starts next week, Sept. 15 th! If you haven t filled out the sign-up sheet yet, please do it after church today. The sign-up sheets are located on the table at the front entrance of the fellowship hall. Even if your children were signed up last year, you will still need to fill out a new form this year. CHURCH PHOTO DIRECTORY Next week (Sept. 15 th ) is the last week to get your family photo taken for the church directory. Our last directory was done in 2006, help us capture the change in your family since then. Digital or Hard copies of the photos will be available by request. If you are interested in purchasing a directory the cost will be approximately $ If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Totton. FUND DRIVE FOR THE LUTHERAN SERVICE BOOK Pledges are still filtering in. Checks should be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church. We are still taking contributions to make our goal of $4,000 to cover the hymnals, 3 year lectionary, alter book and shipping costs. Thank you to everyone who has made pledges towards the new hymnals. CANS FOR CAMP ENCLOSURE PROJECT At the last Quarterly Voter s Meeting, it was agreed that Tyler Rueter would head the project for a new enclosure for the Cans for Camp as his Eagle Scout Project. Tyler would like to make the enclosure similar to the can enclosure found at the Sunshine Grocery Store parking lot. If there is anyone in the congregation that would like to donate or sell a trailer to help us complete this project, please contact Tyler Rueter.
