4 Westward, Ho! AbyWEST Campaign Moves Forward The AbyWEST in 24 Mo! Campaign is well underway. We are very grateful to the membership for their support of our effort to build a $12MM educational center. Following our initial appeal, more than 40% of our members responded to the plea to make a supporting pledge. We are making progress toward the achievement of our goal to raise $3mm in 24 months. Thanks to your generous support we are one-third of the way there. 5 MISSION The mission of The Abyssinian Baptist Church is to win more souls for Christ through evangelism, pastoral care, Christian education, social service delivery, and community development. TO ALL ABYSSINIAN MINISTRY LEADERS Once again the Abyssinian Missionary Ministry will prepare 200 CHRISTMAS LOVE/FOOD BASKETS FOR COMMUNITY FAMILIES We ask that all Abyssinian ministries contribute to this effort by donating various food items to include in the baskets. Please check your /mailbox for a specific request of your Ministry. Monetary donations are also welcome! WE WILL COLLECT Sunday, November 8, 2015 to Sunday, December 13, 2015 The Mattie Fletcher Powell Satellite Ministry sponsors a Fall & Winter Clothing Drive For the entire month of October (Oct. 1-31), The MFP-Satellite Ministry will collect gently used clothing to benefit the children of Abyssinian House Shelter. Donations are greatly appreciated, and should be placed in designated Drop Off boxes throughout the church.

7 MINISTRY EVENTS A prodigy at age 15 for her skills as a contemporary and classical ballerina who had little or no prior training, Misty Copeland has won numerous awards and accolades, and was recently elevated to Principal Ballerina, the highest ranking in classical ballet at the American Ballet Theatre. Copeland is the first African American woman to reach this pedestal in the American Ballet Theatre s history. Abyssinian s Sister to Sister Book Ministry is proud to welcome Mistry Copeland at its reading of her story, "Life in motion an unlikely ballerina"
