The LORD bless you and keep you! The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace! Numbers 6:24-26 My Sisters and Brothers in Christ: The Lord bless you and keep you this new year! I chose this Scripture from the Book of Numbers to begin this letter as my prayer for you. As we celebrate this new year, we are reminded that we are set apart as sacred, dedicated through the Sacrament of Baptism. Stewardship begins with this Sacrament; our offering of ourselves to God. This 2017 Annual Report of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida depicts the refreshment of the waters of Baptism through joyous stories of faith. Open its pages to discover our telling of blessing. I am grateful to the Board of Directors, staff of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida and you for the Lord has looked upon us with kindness. In the Old Testament, peace was a prayer of happiness, good health, prosperity, friendship, and general well-being upon the one greeted. May the Lord give us His Peace. Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend John Noonan Bishop of Orlando 2

A letter from our Chairman With your generous support, we were blessed to achieve several goals making a positive impact on our Catholic community On behalf of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida, it is my honor to present to you the 2017 Annual Report, highlighting another year of tremendous stewardship. With your generous support, we were blessed to achieve several goals making a positive impact on our Catholic community throughout the Diocese of Orlando. Our highlights this year include: A new Foundation logo. Our Catholic Appeal this year raised almost $16 million. Money raised in this appeal helps to feed hungry families, educate seminarians preparing for priesthood, and provides faith formation experiences for Catholic children and adults. Capital Campaigns to assist parishes to meet the growing demands of our Catholic community. A new Planned Giving website, which thoroughly outlines how you or a loved one may make a gift to further our Catholic mission. In addition, 13 planned giving seminars were held throughout our Diocese and attended by more than 600 Catholics. Seven parishes in our Diocese participated in the With All Your Heart program. This program focuses on four heart seasons, including prayer, service, witnessing and sharing. We are also very pleased to announce that the Foundation now manages more than $50 million in investments on behalf of the Diocese, parishes, diocesan entities and private donors. We look forward to continued growth of these investments in the years ahead and the ability to support our diocese. The Foundation Board of Directors and staff continue to look for innovative ways to better serve the spiritual needs of Central Florida s growing Catholic community. It is an honor and blessing to do so. We look forward to another year of continued success. God Bless! 4 Orlando L. Evora Chairman, Board of Directors

The Catholic Founda on of Central Florida Our Catholic Appeal is an annual opportunity for every member of our faith family to support the life-changing work and ministries of the Diocese of Orlando. Gifts to Our Catholic Appeal fund a wide variety of ministries that serve our nine counties in ways that no parish could accomplish alone. Annual gifts to Our Catholic Appeal provide essential funding to 27 ministries that benefit every Catholic parish, school and family in Central Florida. Members of the diocese are also invited to increase their support for Our Catholic Appeal through The Shepherd s Fund. This fund provides the bishop with a supplementary resource for pressing needs, special projects, or extraordinary circumstances that are not covered by the diocesan budget and for which no other revenue source is available. As an unrestricted resource, The Shepherd s Fund gives the bishop the ability to respond to emergencies and the flexibility to embrace opportunities that might otherwise be lost Goal $14,500,000 6 Raised through 12/31/2017 $15,979,880 Donors Contributed 43, Lumen Christi Society Members 103 Average Gift $371 Corpus Christi Society Members

PLANNED GIVING We are blessed to have received gifts from the generations who have come before us: those who have built our parishes and schools; those who have taught and mentored our priests. Our Catholic legacy begins with our hearts and minds, and weaves through our lives, our time and possessions. It culminates with our final estate plans. Planned giving, also known as deferred giving or charitable estate giving, is an important way to provide for our loved ones while ensuring a stable future for our parishes, Catholic schools or the life-changing ministries of our diocese. There are a number of opportunities to create a personal and heartfelt Catholic legacy. They include: Bequest from Will or Trust IRA or 401K Life Insurance Real Estate Charitable Gift Annuity Payable On Death (POD) / Transfer On Death (TOD) Charitable Lead Trust Charitable Remainder Trust Pooled Income Fund Endowment 8 To learn more about how you can leave a legacy, please call

At this rate, these future gifts would be valued at an estimated $11,486,694 when they mature. 3. The Vivos Christi Society celebrates and honors those who have created a Catholic legacy for the future of our local Church through the beautiful gesture of a planned gift. 9

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN SERVICES The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida is deeply thankful to all those who have given so generously to sustain and strengthen the work of our Diocesan community. Your continued efforts have blessed the Diocese of Orlando in many ways! Our parishes are growing their ministries, strengthening their schools, and expanding their capacity for outreach. Capital campaigns help parishes and schools attain major goals, such as expansions, renovations and new construction. Feasibility studies and planning services determine capacity and define the case for support. Our expert staff support pastors and lead parishioners from launch to redemption to ensure successful campaigns. This empowers parishes to better serve the spiritual needs of our region s fast-growing Catholic community. This year, the Foundation launched new campaigns in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul, of Wildwood, FL, and Blessed Sacrament, of Clermont, FL. 10

We are extremely grateful to the Catholic Foundation for their impeccable execution of our project. May God bless them all! Rev. John Britto Antony St. John the Evangelist, Viera, FL In addition to Capital Campaigns, our Campaign Services also include the following: Feasibility Study - A Feasibity Study charts the course for a successful campaign and upon completion, a campaign plan can be developed and tailored specifically for each parish, school or diocesan entity. Wealth Screening - A wealth screen helps to determine a donor s capacity to give. Researching your donor base with wealth screening techniques can help you identify who might have the potential to become a Leadership Gift Prospect. With this insight, you will be better prepared to determine your overall fundraising goals and potential. Redemption Services - Pledge redemption can present an overwhelming administrative burden to parishes, schools and other diocesan entities. Errors can be costly in terms of lost resources and damaged credibility. As part of the Pledge Redemption Services, The Foundation can manage the entire pledge redemption process through the life of the campaign. By shifting this responsibility to The Foundation, the parish, school or other diocesan entity can focus on the most important aspect of the Pledge Redemption Phase: cultivating lasting relationships that strengthen the mission. 11

WITH ALL YOUR HEART CON TODO NUESTRO CORAZÓN With All Your Heart / Con Todo Nuestro Corazón is a program which invites Catholics to fully live their faith as members of a thriving parish. The goal is to strengthen parish life by increasing spirituality, involvement, generosity, and membership. This year, seven parishes participated in this bilingual program. Throughout the year, With All Your Heart (WAYH) establishes a cycle of four seasons: Heart to Pray, Heart to Serve, Heart to Share, and Heart to Witness. The early result? At four pilot parishes, offertory giving increased an average of 8% since WAYH started. 12

With All Your Heart 2017 parish highlights include: Our Lady of Lourdes, Daytona Beach During the Heart to Pray season, Our Lady of Lourdes had more than 40 parishioners attend Prayer School weekly, educating parishioners about different types of prayers. During the Heart to Serve season, a ministry fair helped to enroll 50 additional members for the parish s outreach ministry. St. Andrew, Orlando The parish community wrote a hymn, With All Your Hearts, that is regularly sung in English and Spanish during Mass celebrations. During Prayer Affair, 200 to 300 families signed covenants committing to pray for the homeless, sick, imprisoned, thirsty, poor or dead. St. Francis of Assisi, Apopka During the Heart to Pray season, 600 families committed to more than 1,500 prayer actions. The Hispanic community has 45 to 50 parishioners practicing Lectio Divina meditations each week throughout the year. St. John the Evangelist, Viera During the Heart to Serve season, the parish held a Children Helping Children Walk-A-Thon raising $10,500. In addition, Edge and Life Teen youth packed 500 food packages for the Children s Hunger Project feeding hungry children throughout Brevard County. St. Margaret Mary, Winter Park As part of the Heart to Witness season, St. Margaret Mary welcomed parishioners who had stopped coming to church - back home! During the Heart to Serve season, several parish ministries came together to paint the JMJ Pregnancy Center of Orlando and hosted a baby shower to provide needed supplies. St. Vincent de Paul, Wildwood During the Heart to Share season, the parish educated their faithful by focusing on giving of their first fruits, giving out of love, giving sacrificially. Even though their capital campaign is in the redemption phase, the parish averaged a 14% increase in offertory for two years in a row. During the Heart to Serve season, the parish observed an Elder Kindness Day offering phone calls, visits or respite care to seniors living alone or at assisted living facilities. Sto. Toribio Romo Mission, Mascotte For the Heart to Pray season, parish youth gathered in solemnity and committed themselves to prayer and transformation during Lent. For the Heart to Share season, Mission volunteers delivered bags of food to families and children in need every Sunday during July. 13

OFFERTORY ENHANCEMENT INITIATIVE Offertory giving plays an important role in the ability of a parish to serve the community and minister to God s people. Parishes rely on regular offertory giving to meet daily expenses. The Catholic Foundation facilitates the Offertory Enhancement Initiative (OEI) to assist parishes throughout the Diocese of Orlando. This one-year program is a gentle path to offertory enhancement with a spiritually sound approach. It uses best practices to increase parish enthusiasm and giving. 5 Parishes $7.7 Repeated the initiative during The parishes are: Million Immaculate Conception, Melbourne Beach Most Precious Blood (MPB), Oviedo Sacred Heart, New Smyrna Beach Offertory Enhancement Initiative (OEI) St. Gerard s Mission, Edgewater Increase in giving since OEI began in 2012 St. John Vianney, Orlando 12%Gain Two of the five parishes averaged a 12% offertory increase because of OEI When I look back on what God has done here at Most Precious Blood, there is much to be grateful for, says Rev. David Scotchie, MPB s Pastor. 14 *Based on figures collected from parishes for an entire year and compared to previous-year totals.

The Catholic Founda on of Central Florida Here s a look at how donations from our Alive in Christ campaign have served Central Florida since the launch of the campaign: More than $87 million was returned to parishes to complete projects including building, renovating and expanding churches. $342,000 from the Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc. Endowment Fund was distributed to Catholic Charities to support services such as the food pantry, free healthcare for the uninsured, housing help and emergency financial assistance for people in need. $200,000 from the Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund was used to assist 92 students with Catholic School tuition. 15
