It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes intoxicating drink (Proverbs 31:3-4, NKJV). Key Thought: The book of Proverbs began with the teachings of a father (Proverbs 1:1, 8; 4:1) and ends with the teachings of a mother (Proverbs 31:1). The name Lemuel may allude to Solomon; if so, then Lemuel s mother is Solomon s mother, and she warns her son against the two most serious threats to the king: wine and women. The association of wine and women is deliberate. To be efficient as a ruler, the king has to be careful of the influences he faces, and these two factors can be very powerful. 4 Announcements Page Two Fresh Flowers in the Sanctuary on Sabbaths are quite a treat and add to our spiritual worship. Would you consider donating a flower arrangement once a quarter? Flowers can be from your garden or purchased. Consider donating in honor of a loved one or in celebration of an anniversary and birthday. Portland Adventist Academy Gospel Choir Benefit Concert: Join the PAA Gospel Choir as they raise their voices to our Lord. The 60 th General Conference Session for Seventh-day Adventist...July 2-12 in San Antonio, TX. Announcements - Page Three Financial Information (Tithes, Combined Budget & Expenses) Tithes - primarily support the preaching, pastoral, evangelistic work of ministers and Bible teachers. In addition, because Adventist schools are an ongoing ministry to students, tithe funds are used to subsidize selected administrative salaries and a percentage of salaries for teachers. Tithe provides for the support of local, union, division and General Conference services. Tithe is not used to purchase property, build churches or fund the general operations of churches or schools. Tithes are sent directly to the Oregon Conference to support the aforementioned efforts. Offerings-Combined Budget - Contributions to Combined Budget remain at Sharon Church to pay church operating expenses. These expenses include but are not limited to utilities, landscape, janitorial services, subsidies to PAA and PAES, church secretary, maintenance, supporting church ministries, purchasing new equipment, church repairs, building and ground improvements. Finance Summary for January-February 2015: Month Tithes Combined Budget Expense January $20, $ $12, February $36, $13, $11, Total $56, $27, $23, Monthly Average $28, $13, $11, Combined budget exceed expenses by $3,792.20ytd/$1, mo avg. These monies will go towards supporting our church ministries & church expenses. Your continued giving to combined budget will ensure that the church is able to meet its financial obligations and support our local ministries.
