4 Acts 11: Now the apostles and the brothers [and sisters]* who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision party criticized him, saying, 3 You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them. 4 But Peter began and explained it to them in order: 5 I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me. 6 Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air. 7 And I heard a voice saying to me, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. 8 But I said, By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth. 9 But the voice answered a second time from heaven, What God has made clean, do not call common. 10 This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven. 11 And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea. 12 And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house. 13 And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; 14 he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household. 15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. 16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. 17 If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way? 18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life. * variance from ESV Psalm Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. 6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away. 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, 8 fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! 9 Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! 10 Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12 Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. 14 He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. 5 Revelation 21: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, Behold, I am making all things new. Also he said, Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true. 6 And he said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. 7 ANNOUNCEMENTS The CPR class is Tuesday, April 26, at 7 pm in the Annex. The class is approximately two hours and is open to all ages. Cost is $10 per person. Those attending will receive training on the AED and CPR certification, good for two years. The May ROMEO s luncheon w ill be W ednesday, May 4 at 12 PM at Fork in the Road Café, Fayetteville. Capernaum Club w ill meet in the Sanctuary Friday, May 6, from 5 pm until 8:30 pm. Contact Andi Laaker at laakerroom@att.net for more info. Faithful Hands Ministry last meeting before summer break is Monday, May 16 and will resume for fall on Monday, September 12, Tuesdays with God last meeting before summer break is Tuesday, May 17. The meeting will include a salad luncheon. Real Life Center has added a federally funded program enabling them to distribute food boxes to seniors. We need volunteers to assist the seniors with their boxes. Upcoming dates are May 11 and June 15. Please see Pam Davis for more info. The Scholarship Committee is now taking applications for the Larry and Carolyn Lystig Scholarship. Applications are accepted for those who have completed 1 year of college and should be submitted by May 1. For more information, please see Emily Nadeau, Bert Laaker, or Bonnie Kent. Our next RLC Warehouse service opportunity is Wednesday, May 11 at 9:30 am and the Real Life Center Mobile Food Pantry will be Thursday, April 28 at 9:00 am. The next Midwest Food Bank distribution will be Tuesday, May 17 (8 am - 12 pm & 6 pm - 8 pm); Wednesday, May 18 (8 am - 1:30 pm); and Thursday, May 19 (8 am - 12 pm).
