1 Lighted Way Ministries For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of YAH, Ephesians 2:8 Grace... It s perhaps the most important and powerful, yet misunderstood word in Scripture. Over and over again, the Bible teaches us that it is through grace that we find salvation (Titus 2:11). But we believe that through the grace of the Adonai Yahshua Messiah we shall be saved, Acts 15:11. Since we are saved by grace, understanding what it is becomes vitally significant. Christians today commonly define grace as God s unmerited favor. Practically speaking, this is understood to mean that because salvation is obtained by the Sacrifice of Yahshua, there is no responsibility to live a transformed life on the part of the recipient. Thus, in the most obscene of living examples of such cheap grace, any movies may be watched, any vulgar language may be used, and any victory-less lifestyle which may suit the supposed Christian is justifiable since Yahshua paid it all, did it all, and is all. This teaching is a terrible twisting of Truth with error. Certainly it is true that Yahshua paid it all, where our salvation is concerned. There is NOTHING that any of us can ever do to earn our own salvation. But, where we go from there depends upon how we define the word Grace. The first myth we must dispel to understand the salvational key of grace is its definition. Grace is NOT defined as God s unmerited favor. This is the Biblical definition for mercy. But, while salvation certainly involves the mercy of YHWH, we are not saved exclusively BY mercy. Therefore, the first step in distorting our comprehension of the salvation process was in the enemy s sneak attack in redefining Grace! To begin exposing this attack, and Scripturally revealing the true meaning of grace, let s start with a vital foundation. We are NOT called to be New Testament Christians. Because the Torah is the written transcript of YHWH s character, the Law of YHWH is the HEART of the Scriptures and the Source of all Scriptural Light. As spokes branching out from the hub of a wheel, the Law of YHWH is the nucleus of Truth from which the rest of the Bible radiates. Within this framework of understanding comes protection from misconstruing Bible doctrine. The New Testament is not a new Bible, rather it is understood and rightly interpretted through the Torah (which is the first five books of the Bible or Genesis Deuteronomy). The Torah is so foundational to all other Scripture that all Truth and Biblical teachings are rooted in it. 2 Saved by GRACE, from page 1 All doctrines which are exclusively supported by New Testament Scripture and cannot be found in Torah and in the Old Testament are really misconstruals and twistings of the Truth. Thus, to understand the Scriptural concept of Grace, one must have the correct definition of the word, and be able to find this teaching in the Torah. So where is GRACE in Torah? In Exodus 33:13, we find Moses seeking to know YHWH s Grace. This verse also connects GRACE with YAH s WAY. Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy Sight, show me now Thy Way, that I may know Thee, that I may find GRACE in Thy Sight... In answer to this heartfelt request, YHWH DID allow Moses to know His WAY of GRACE. The Bible confirms this in Psalm 103:7: He made known His WAYS unto Moses... So, Moses asked YHWH to reveal His WAYS that he could find GRACE. And YHWH revealed His Way and Moses found GRACE! What was YHWH s WAY through which Moses found Grace? In Psalm 77:13 we find a vital clue: Thy WAY, O YAH, is in the SANCTUARY... The Sanctuary is the full picture of Grace. In fact, to understand grace in all its nuances, one needs to study the symbols of the Sanctuary revealed in its services, materials and furniture. We have the expression, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thus, YHWH, in His infinite wisdom, has given us a picture of Grace, that we never need wonder what it looks like. The Sanctuary is that picture. When we view Grace through the snapshot of the Sanctuary, we see the rightful place of Calvary. In the Sanctuary, the Cross was emblemized by the brazen Altar of Burnt Sacrifice, which stood near the doorway in the Sanctuary courtyard. Here, every morning and evening, the lamb was slain, representing our dear Saviour s Death. Also, when a sinner needed forgiveness and cleansing for sin, he brought his sacrifice, which was offered there upon the Altar. But the Altar was only one......part of the Sanctaury. Was it vital? Yes! In fact the rest of the Sanctuary and its symbology would have been meaningless without it. But, there was much more to the Sanctuary than just the Altar of Burnt Sacrifice alone. Thus, we see that Yahshua s Death on the Cross is as much the whole message of Grace as the Altar of Burnt Sacrifice is the totality of the Sanctuary. The Cross is a vital part of Grace, yet the Saviour s Sacrifice on Calvary is one piece of the puzzle which makes up Grace. Grace is more than Calvary much more! So what is the WAY of Grace, as defined and pictured in the Sanctuary? To answer this question, let s go item-byitem through the Sanctuary. For time and space, we cannot also cover the services, but remember these also are puzzle pieces which make up the whole picture of Grace. Still, here s a glimpse of Grace, as viewed through a summary of the Sanctuary items: White Linen Wall o Represents us entering into a righteous relationship with Christ. It is coming apart from the world and being separated from it (2 Corinthians 6:14-17 & Revelation 19:8). Altar of Burnt Sacrifice o Represents the Sacrifice of Yahshua and the cost of sin. We are justified, not by our merits, but by His Blood (Romans 5:8-9 & John 12:31-33). Laver o Represents our response to the Saviour s Death. This is the baptism of death to sin. Then, spiritually rising out of the water, we come alive in Him as a new Creature. The old man of sin is dead and gone, and the new man reflects the loveliness of Yahshua (2 Corinthians 5:17 & Romans 6:1-13). Table of Shewbread o This represents the Word of YAH. His Word nourishes our spiritual life just as physical bread sustains the body (James 1:21-22, Psalm 119:10-11 & John 6:51). Altar of Incense o This represents prayer. While eating of the Word is spiritual nourishment, prayer is spiritual breathing (Luke 18:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 & Revelation 8:4). Seven-branched Candlestick o This represents the witness of a changed life. When our lives are filled with the Holy Spirit, we bear YAH s Fruit. This is a light to the world (Galatians 5:22-23 & Matthew 5:14-16). When we are truly under Grace, we will experience and demonstrate every piece of the Sanctuary in our lives. Growing more into the Sanctuary pattern is growing in Grace. Thus, Grace is about a changed life, not sanctioned sin. 2

3 Remembering Passover and Pentecost, 2011 Highlights from the Spring Feasts Dining together at the Sabbath Fellowship Meal during Unleavened Bread This past Passover-Unleavened Bread retreat was a blessing. The Seder was beautiful with more people in attendance than there were plates on the tables (over 80 people). Throughout the week, we enjoyed speakers like Elder Walter Tschoepe, who shared a new series called How Long Halt Ye Between Two Opinions? Eileen Beseley shared a powerful devotional series to strengthen us in discipleship with Yahshua. Charlene Fortsch gave a thought-provoking series on the prophecies of Daniel. Shauna Manfredine taught a new series called Sabbath Through the Ages. Mark and Shauna taught a Christian Living series called Living Beyond the Keys (which was the subject matter for the new Bible Study series). And there were many other lessons given by speakers like Lou and Danette Davis, Natalie Wright, Sky Sierra, Cindy Hernandez and Mark Manfredine. It was truly a FEAST in the Word and in fellowship with like-minded believers. There were also some fun and spiritual activities to make the retreat especially memorable for the whole family. For example, we enjoyed a tour of a Life-Sized Wilderness Sanctuary, we took a bus together through the Wildlife Safari. And the best of all was the baptism and anointing which took place on Sabbath, April 23. Ten people were baptized, giving their hearts to YAH for the first time, or recommitting their lives to Him. We sang and praised YHWH with them out at the river, even amidst the lightly falling rain. It was a beautiful experience and there were many joyful, yet teary, All dressed up and ready for the Sanctuary Tour eyes as the baptismal recipients shared their testimonies and were buried in the watery grave. Mark blows the Shofar Many, who could not physically attend, joined this powerful retreat virtually as it was broadcast via Webinar! Elder Tschoepe Speaks (left) & Dayne McKnight is baptized Thanking the dynamic kitchen crew: led by Virginia Scott & Norma Jones After the Passover-Unleavened Bread Feast, we counted the homer together in heartfelt anticipation of Pentecost. Several local families (which make up our local or extended Bible study group) came together in our home for what we called Pentecost Weekend. Starting on Sabbath, June 11, we fellowshipped from 10 AM throughout the day on both days. We sang, prayed, studied the deeper meaning of Pentecost and enjoyed a couple of sermons. Then, at the end of the day on Pentecost (around 4:30 PM), we joined together for one last, long prayer-singingtestimony time. It was powerful! Many wept as we literally felt the presence of the holy angels there with us, making our worship with YAH sweet beyond words. Like the Passover-Unleavened Bread retreat, our Pentecost weekend was also broadcast via Webinar. And the sermons from this time are also now available on DVD. 3
