The Origin of Evil and The Spread of False Religion THE ORIGIN OF EVIL - Lesson 4, Part 1 The Line Of Cain Genesis 4:16-4:24 The Line Of Cain Just as Cain practiced a false religion, we will now see that Cain s religion produced a humanistic line that wandered away from God. Genesis 4:16-24 GEN 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. 18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. 19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. 20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. 21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. 22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. 23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. 24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. The Lost and the Saved GEN 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. Cain went out from the presence of God. Away from the mercy seat (Cheribim)? Nod means wandering, or land of the nomads. This may have not been an actual geographical location, but a figure of speech signifying Cain s manner of life. However, since Cain founded a city, Nod could have been a place. Cain and Abel typify the Lost and the Saved respectively. Cain relied on his own works. He represents the natural man relying on his own works. Abel trusted God and relied on grace. He represents the spiritual man trusting in God. We are to rely on the finished work of Christ. Dwight Moody said that to educate a thief who would steal nuts and bolts from the railroad was to make a man who would steal the whole railroad. Man s heart must change, not only his mind. Secular education will not change man s heart. Unregenerate man s offering, like Cain s, consists of moral character, unselfish deeds, and charitable works (humanism). By bringing the bloody sacrifice, Abel confessed that he was a fallen creature, worthy of death. Abel typifies the spiritual man. The spiritual man pins his faith on the atoning substitute and sacrifice of the cross. He places his trust in God and relies on the substitutionary atonement (covering). To atone means to cover. By faith Abel presented his offering and believed that God would accept it and satisfy His divine justice. Having heard he believed and acted upon it. Saving faith is believing God s Word and acting on it. This is what we see in Luke: LUK 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. Peter and Abel obeyed God s Word. 1

Types And Antitypes There are a total of 35 types and antitypes between Christ, Cain, and Abel Let s sample a few. Abel is a type of Christ. His murder is a foreshadow of Christ s rejection and crucifixion. Cain hated Abel without a cause. JOH 15:25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. Jealousy - Cain envied Abel. Christ was delivered because of envy. MAT 27:18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. By wicked [lawless] hands both Christ and Abel were put to death. ACT 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Abel was a shepherd, Christ is the good shepherd. Abel presented a sacrifice, Christ presented Himself a sacrifice. JOH 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. God accepted Abel s sacrifice; Christ s sacrifice was accepted. HEB 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; God acknowledged that Abel was righteous. Christ was acknowledged as righteous. LUK 23:47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. God testified of Christ s righteousness by raising Him from the dead Abel s sacrifice still speaks to God. HEB 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Abel s offering was a shepherd s offering, which was accepted by God Christ s offering was a shepherd s offering acceptable to God. 1PE 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Cain and Israel The story of Cain is similar to the story of the Jewish people. The Jews were a people of the land. The Jews rested on their own obedience to God s laws. The curse fell on Israel and the Jews became wanderers within 40 years of the crucifixion. Jesus was crucified in 32AD. The Roman general, Titus, destroyed Jerusalem in 70AD. The Jews were at that time scattered among the nations. The temple was burned and the temple was taken apart stone by stone to retrieve the melted gold of the temple. The gold had run between the stones. This was all done in fulfillment of Jesus prophecy in Matthew 24:1, 2. MAT 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Like Cain, a figurative mark has been placed on the Jews so that they can be recognized anywhere, never losing their identity. God s curse has always been on those people who have been against Israel. Christ came to His own and His own received Him not. Cain rejected God s saving grace. When Christ came, the Jews rejected Christ s saving grace. 2

A shift occurred in Christ s ministry which is seldom recognized. Notice in Matthew 12:24 where Jesus has just cast out a demon. MAT 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. This represents the formal rejection of Christ as the Jewish Messiah by the Jewish leaders. Cities & Population GEN 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. Cain survived to found a city. It seems significant that this is the first mention of a city in the Bible. In the first generation after Adam we find a city contrary to the million-year development of man required by evolution. There may be some truth to the legend of Atlantis. [141] 1 Atlantis might represent a memory of the pre- Flood world. Certainly, Atlantis is said to have sunk below the water. The world of Adam, Cain, Abel, Enoch, Methuselah, and Noah was a civilized pre-flood world, according to our Bible. [79] 2 Was man intended to live in cities? It also seems significant that cities seem to be associated with sin and rebellion. Examples would be Sodom, Gomorrah, Nineveh and Babel, and wherever man congregates to hatch his evil plots against God. Overpopulation may in fact be due to man s choice of lifestyle. Get into your car and begin to drive across our nation and see just how empty and undeveloped this country really is. Long before Cain died there was a large population in the Earth. Estimates using statistical methods, given the longevity of the antediluvians, show that the Earth could have conservatively had a population of 3 billion, and possibly 7 billion people, at the time of the flood! In fact, using statistical methods we can show that today s population of more than 6 billion people is what one would expect if we were to begin only with the family members of Noah (8 people) over the approximate 4300 years of history since Noah got off the Ark! If, as evolutionists believe, man has been present on earth for millions of years, then earth s population should be vastly greater than it is now. [79; 80; 82] 3 Some of the things I m going to say now are meant as food for thought and as such may seem harsh or extreme, but consider the following: Scares of overpopulation and world food shortage by agenda setters may be designed to cause panic and to bring us to acceptance of the New World Order (world government). Read the books Trashing the Planet and Environmental Overkill by Dixy Lee Ray. [94, 95] 4 Areas of overpopulation do exist, but many have argued that the world is capable of satisfactorily supporting as many as 50 billion people, nearly 10 times the present population! In many cases the decision to distribute food to the starving is a political issue. Cain s line founded cities and technology. Cities provide slaves to feed an economic world system. Cities are corporation labor pools. Our Free Trade agreements such as NAFTA have made it possible to move our manufacturing to other countries such as Mexico and China. Jerome R. Corsi, PH.D, in his New York Times bestseller, THE LATE GREAT U.S.A, The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada, reports of China s use of slave labor to produce products for sale in the United States. Corsi reports on the use of political and religious prisoners as no cost forced labor to produce many of its products for export.[23] 5 Even though the US has a ban on forced labor products, Corsi claims that it is unenforceable since, the U.S Custom Service cannot conduct independent investigations in China to determine if goods imported into the United States were made in Chinese forced labor camps. 4 Corsi cites the reports of the Asian Human Rights Commission on the use of year old young women up to 19 hours a day, 6 days a week, at 0.06 cents to 0.40 cents an hour to produce products to be sold in major American department stores such as Target, Walmart, Toys-R-Us, Disney, Mattel, McDonald s Happy Meal Toys, and others. Corsi sites a report that New Balance athletic shoes valued at U.S. port of entry at $14.61 per pair, retails at $ per pair (an 824% markup). [23] 7 Today we have more than 6 billion people. Ted Turner, former owner of CNN, believes that earth s population should be cut to between 250 and 350 million. How does Ted propose we do that? In the book Earth s Final Days, D.A. Miller shows that twentieth-century leaders are capable of exterminating large masses of people: 70 million people have been exterminated in communist Russia. 13 million people (including 6 million Jews) met their deaths at the hands of the Nazis in Germany. Whole groups of people have been starved to death in Africa and Yugoslavia. Forced abortions in China are murdering millions of the unborn. Saddam Hussein murdered large numbers of his own people. Our permissive lifestyle and the promotion of the pro-choice agenda by our leaders is murdering 4500 unborn babies a day in this country. Jerome Corsi reports that: the Laogai Research Foundation continues to believe that the Chinese are using lethal injections in hospitals and execution vans to harvest the organs of political prisoners. [23] 8 Also: It is reported that the United Nation s estimates of population growth projects nearly zero growth by the year How do they propose to accomplish that? The United Nations believe that the zero growth will occur due to natural balancing between longer life expectancy and drastic reduction of the number of children produced. [2] 9 And finally: Promoting homosexuality would assure that future generations, populated with large groups of married homosexuals, would not reproduce itself. Cain named his city and his son Enoch. "Enoch" probably means teaching, initiation, dedication or commencement. Cain was commencing a different life. The verb translated built is an indefinite verb which probably should have been translated was building to signify that although he started to build, he may have not finished it. Cain s Wife The big question is where did Cain get his wife? Notice first in this verse that it does not say that Cain found his wife in the land of Nod, but that he knew her and she conceived. There is no mention of when they were married or where he got her, only that she was his wife. Tradition says that Cain s wife s name was Save. In the first generation probably all marriages were brother and sister marriages, then later cousins. At this time there would be no mutant genes in the genetic systems that would cause genetic harm as there is today. Mutant genes would gradually accumulate in mankind over a period of time due to intermarriage, which would make this type of marriage harmful to the offspring. This would later result in incest being forbidden in the Mosaic Law. The clear indication is that Cain married his sister, or an offspring of another sibling. Adam lived to be 930 years old so could have produced many offspring during his lifetime. He probably wouldn t even remember them all. Depending on when he met his wife and the circumstances, Cain himself may not have even been aware of his actual relationship to his wife. The Line Of Cain After the fall, mankind was in a continually degenerating state. Genes were not as corrupted as today, and man s intelligence was greater or on a par with today. Man was capable of great technological advances. As we look back at man s ancient artifacts and technology we wonder where on earth is the so called evolving primitive man? [19] 10 One wonders if the primitive man in the South American jungles today is the result of loss of information. We have no clue as to how primitive man could have built even the great pyramids. 5 GEN 4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech. Irad = Ornament of a city, City of witness, fugitive or wild ass. The name suggests unregenerate man. Mehujael = Smitten of God or Blot out that Jah (Jehovah) is God. It suggests that by this time men wanted nothing to do with God; Just like today! Methushael = Man who is of God or they died inquiring. Some people, even in Cain s line, must have been concerned about the way the world was going. And then we come to Lamech whose name means powerful, conqueror, wild man. He personifies the coming of the antichrist, the seed of the serpent. Defiance, lust, and lawlessness were his trademarks. [90] 12 GEN 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. This is the first instance of bigomy or polygamy recorded in the Bible. Lamech embraced in his wives what he considered to be irresistable: 1JO 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Adah = Ornamental (lust of the eyes). Zillah = Shade, shadow or seductress (lust of the flesh). This marks a change in the role of the wife as equal, companion and helper to one of pride of possession, chosen for physical attributes. [90] 13 In Lamech s offspring would dawn a new age of discovery. In fact, the names of Lamech s offspring, Jabal, Jubal, and Tubal, are all derived from the same root meaning to flow or to produce. [90] 14 GEN 4:20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle. Jabel = The producer. These became nomadic people, those who herd livestock (ranchers). Cattle (Livestock) = Herds of sheep and goats used for milk and clothing. The word for cattle, or livestock = Possession, from the root to acquire. Dwell in tents would suggest nomadic life. [90] 15 GEN 4:21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ. Jubal = The undulator or a joyful sound. Culture developed. The new world order has its entertainment media to occupy its time and drown out the thought of God with the undulator to give men a beat or rhythm to fill the empty void. That s the message of rock and roll. [90] 16 GEN 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah. Technology Industry and commerce developed. Bronze and iron would imply weapons and conflict. Naamah = Beautiful, sweet, graceful, pleasure. The Jewish Rabbis believe she introduced weaving for clothing, while Tubal-Cain provided metallic ornaments for dress. [90] 17 Some tradition accounts say that Naamah became the wife of Ham, Noah s son. [126; 149] 18 A Tradition (the following is only an unproven tradition): It is said that Namaah was celebrated for her beauty, talent, energy, lustfulness, and cruelty. It is also said that Namaah was a witch, and that the demonic nature of sex worship in the land of Canaan is traced directly to Ham's intercourse with Namaah on the Ark. [126; 151] 19 More likely though is the account of Ham s wife as taken from the book of Jasher: 12 [90] John Phillips, EXPLORING GENESIS, Neptune, NJ: Loizeaux Brothers, 1980, p [90] Phillips, EXPLORING GENESIS, p [90] Phillips, EXPLORING GENESIS, pp. 73, [90] Phillips, EXPLORING GENESIS, pp. 73, Undulator One who sways, or moves in rhythm or waves. 6 JASHER 5:35 Then Noah took the three daughters of Eliakim, son of Methuselah, for wives for his sons, as the Lord had commanded Noah. [149] Naamah may have been evil, but most likely not the wife of Ham on the ark. GEN 4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. 24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. Lamech is speaking of homicide! In verse 24 Lamech is blaspheming and challenging God, since vengeance was for God alone. [90] 20 There is an ancient Jewish legend that Lamech slew his ancestor Cain while hunting. The book of Jasher says that, while hunting, Lemech killed both Cain (his great, great grandfather) and Tubal-Cain (his son). [149] 21 JASHER 2:30 Lemech and Tubal went to see the animal which they had slain, and they saw, and behold Cain their grandfather was fallen dead upon the earth. 31 And Lemech was very much grieved at having done this, and in clapping his hands together he struck his son and caused his death. 20 [90] Phillips, EXPLORING GENESIS, pp. 74, [149] Johnson, ANCIENT BOOK OF JASHER, pp. 9, 10. 6

THE ORIGIN OF EVIL - Lesson 4, Part 2 The Line of Seth Genesis 4:25-5:32 The Line of Seth Just as Cain s line wandered away from God, we will see that Seth produced a line that would eventually bring salvation to mankind. Genesis 4:25-5:32 GEN 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. 26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. GEN 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and 8 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. 9 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: 10 And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and 11 And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. 12 And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel: 13 And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and 14 And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. 15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: 16 And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and 17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. 18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: 19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and 20 And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. 26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and 27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. 30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and 31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Seth Interestingly, there is evidence for the names of 10 pre-flood gods or kings in the records of Egypt and Chaldea. There is a list of 10 patriarchs listed in the pre-flood Biblical account (Gen 5). When the lists are 7

compared, the meaning of some of the names or the tradition of their deeds point to the possibility of the lists being identical: [87] 22 Biblical Patriarchs Egyptian Gods Chaldean Kings Adam Ptah Alorus Seth Ra Aloparus Enos (mortal, weak mankind) Su Almelon (a man) Cainan (a craftsman) Seb Ammenon (craftsman) Mahalaleel Osirus Amegalarus Jared Set Daonus Enoch (teaching, a teacher) Hor Aedorachus (bearer of divine revelations) Methuselah Tut Amempsinus Lamech Ma Otiartes Noah (survived flood) Hor Xisuthros (survived flood) Are these the same lists? GEN 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. Seth means appointed or substituted. It s interesting that Christ is our substitute. Eve s hope was raised again that this might be the promised deliverer. This is a new beginning or new birth. We note that deaths are not recorded for the line of Cain as they would be for the line of Seth, as if they, in all of their production and culture, were of no importance. Righteousness is not from our production, its produced by faith in God. GEN 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. Cain produced a line of human accomplishments (materialism). Cain was of the serpent s seed. Seth produced a line of men calling on the name of the Lord. In the view of some, Seth was maintaining the line of the promised Seed of the woman. In Luke 3:23 we see Mary s genealogy. She was the daughter of Heli. Joseph could only be the son of Heli by his marriage to Mary. For Jesus legal genealogy (Joseph s) see Matthew chapter 1. Luke depicts Jesus genealogy coming through the line of Seth. Jesus was the promised Seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15). LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli 36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech, 37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan, 38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. In Genesis 4:26 - Calling on the name of the Lord may refer to establishing public worship or prayer. Since Calvary, whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. JOE 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. ACT 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. ROM 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Jesus is Lord, the name above every name. 22 [87] Rene Noorbergen, SECRETS OF THE LOST RACES, New Discoveries of Advanced Technology in Ancient Civilizations, New York, NY: TEACH Services, Inc., Introduction by author February 1977, First printed 1977, Copyright 2001, 2006, pp. 11, 12, 26, 28, 30. 8

PHI 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Another view of the meaning of to call on the name of the Lord in Genesis 4:26 is as follows: E.W. Bullinger [in the Companion Bible, Appendex No. 21] suggests that this calling on the name of the Lord was to profane and blaspheme it. The Hebrew Targums (Scriptural paraphrases) and commentaries say that in the days of Enosh men began to ere and to profane the name of the Lord. Enosh introduced idolatry. It is suggested that they began to call the stars and their idols their gods and began to worship them. Maimonides in his commentary on the Mishna says that idolatry began in the days of Enosh. What were men s ungodly deeds, that already existed, that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about? In Jude 1:14 we find Enoch s mention of ungodly deeds: JUD 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. Even in Seth s godly line corruption existed. Enosh means moral frailty, (frail, weak, sickly, incurable). The Book GEN 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Book = Written account. This is the written account of Adam s history. [71] 23 This is a clear reference to writing suggesting that the art of writing could have been known within the lifetime of Adam. The Hebrew word cepher (book) is used signifying that it was indeed a written account and that chapters 2, 3 and 4 may have been a self contained book. This is the second Toledate statement in Genesis indicating that Adam was the owner or writer of the tablet containing 2, 3 and 4 of Genesis. These statements found in Genesis contain the words These are the generations (history) of (toledate) Toledate statements were signatures usually indicating author or owner of a clay tablet. This signature would have been at the end of the tablet. The previous such statement was found in Genesis 2:4, and others are found throughout the book of Genesis, indicating that Moses compiled the book of Genesis from written historical source material, probably clay tablets received from Noah through Abraham. Genesis 5:1 is the first mention of the word book in the Old Testament and it gives the origins of the first Adam, made of dust. We see a similar statement in Matthew, the first book of the New Testament: MAT 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matthew 1:1 is the first mention of the word book in the new testament and it gives the origins or history of the last Adam, who is the Lord from heaven. 1CO 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. Only in Genesis 5:1 and Matthew 1:1 is the word book mentioned in the Toledate statement, pointing to the first and second Adam. All the other Toledate statements in Genesis state, These are the generations of... without mentioning book. This is a significant proof of inspiration. The entire Bible centers around these two books - the book of the generations of Adam, and the book of the generations of Jesus Christ. The entire Bible focuses on the first and last Adam. The first Adam failed, the last Adam restored. For a better understanding of these statements, substitute history for the word generations or genealogy. 23 [71] Marvin L. 10 The Line of Seth GEN 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. Adam and man are the same Hebrew word. In this verse the King James Bible renders it Adam, but it probably should be man or mankind due to the context. GEN 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: Adam was created in God s image, but Seth was begot in Adam s own likeness and image. Seth partook of the fallen nature of his father. ROM 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. This is why Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:7 You must be born again. Adam and Seth were spiritually dead. We are born with Adam s fallen nature. We are descended from Seth. The doctrine of universal depravity is that Noah could pass on to us only what he received from Seth. Seth = substituted or appointed. Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born. This is not to say that other children were not born before Seth, but God revealed that this one was the true substitute for Abel, who would be in the line of the Seed of the woman, the Messiah. LUK 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. GEN 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and 5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. 6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: Enosh = Frail, or mortal. According to Maimonides, Commentary on the Mishna, (part of the Talmud), AD 1168: The origin of idolatry began in the days of Enosh. GEN 5:7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and 8 And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. 9 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: Notice: Cainan may actually be Kenan. The genealogy in 1 Chronicles 1:1-4 says Kenan instead of Cainan. 1CH 1:1 Adam, Sheth, Enosh, 2 Kenan, Mahalaleel, Jered, 3 Henoch, Methuselah, Lamech, 4 Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. According to a study of the root meaning of the word of Kenan, it may mean sorrow. [Chuck Missler] 24 GEN 5:10 And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and 11 And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. 12 And Cainan lived seventy years and begat Mahalaleel: Mahalaleel = Praise of God, or the blessed God. 24 Chuck Missler indicates that looking at the root meaning of Kenan, the meaning is sorrow. 10

GEN 5:13 And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and 14 And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. 15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: Jared = Descent, or shall come down. GEN 5:16 And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and 17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. 18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: Enoch = Dedication, teaching, or initiation. Enoch, whose name means teaching, was the first of four generations of prophets. Enoch, the first of the prophets, witnessed to the presence of God. GEN 5:19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and 20 And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: Enoch prophesied when he named his son Methuselah. Methuselah = When he dies, judgement, or his death shall bring. Muth = to die. Shalak = to send forth, or bring about. The year that Methuselah died the Flood came. Methuselah witnessed to the patience of God. He lived longer than any other. God withheld His judgment all that time. Enoch s second prophecy is found in Jude 14 and 15: JUD 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. This prophecy in Jude is considered an amplification of the prophecy in Genesis 3:15 of the crushing of the serpent (Satan) and his seed. GEN 5:22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Genesis 5:24 is referenced in Hebrews 11:5 where we are told that Enoch was "translated. HEB 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. The word translated is taken from the Latin word translatio, meaning transporting or transferring because Christ will transport the Church from one place to another. [103] 25 Note that it is stated that Enoch did not die. This should settle the argument of some, that the Rapture verses refer to the time of physical death. They do not! Notice that this rapture occurred before the judgment of the Flood, in which a remnant was preserved on an ark. Enoch s walk was by faith. HEB 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated. In the case of Enoch, he was walking by faith when suddenly faith became sight in another world. 1CO 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 25 [103] Renald Showers, MARANATHA, OUR LORD COME! A Definitive Study of the Rapture of the Church, Bellmawr, NJ: The Friend's of Israel Gospel Ministry, Inc., 1995, p

Enoch was raptured. Walking implies growth or progress. Enoch grew in grace and in knowledge of God. To know God we must have contact with Him, a relationship. The prophecy of Enoch in naming his son Methuselah, His death shall bring (judgment) would have a sobering effect on Enoch. Every time Methuselah became sick the reminder of judgment would come. We are living in a similar time; we see the signs. We must always be prepared for the return of our Lord for His bride. GEN 5:25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. Lamech = Powerful, conqueror, or the desparing. GEN 5:26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and 27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. rest. Lamech witnessed to the peace of God in the name he gave his son Noah. Noah means Comfort, or The Prophecy of Noah s Name We find another prophecy, this one concerning Lamech s son Noah. Lamech, like his grandfather Enoch, are the only two antediluvian patriarchs whose prophecies are recorded. They are also the only antediluvian patriarchs who were outlived by their own fathers. Enoch was raptured 435 years before his father Jared s death. Methuselah outlived Lamech by 5 years. Lamech prophesied at Noah s birth of a coming time when the curse would be removed. This is the time of restoration spoken of by Peter in Acts 3:18-21: ACT 3:18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. 19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. The cursed earth would be cleansed by the flood, the promised Seed was still future, but in Him and His promised coming is true rest and comfort. Noah witnessed to the purposes of God. He was a preacher of righteousness. 2PE 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; In building the ark he testified to his generation of the coming judgment. HEB 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. GEN 5:30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and 31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Noah was the first of the Godly line of Seth to have all his children listed. The Prophecy In The Genealogy Let s take a closer look now at the genealogy from Adam through the line of Seth to Noah. 12

Look closely at the meaning of the names in this genealogy, courtesy Chuck Missler. Adam = Man Seth = (is) appointed Enosh = mortal Kenan = sorrow Mahalaleel = the blessed God Jared = shall come down Enoch = teaching Methuselah = his death shall bring Lamech = the despairing Noah = comfort or rest Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow; the blessed God shall come down teaching his death shall bring, the despairing, comfort, or rest. The Sons of God To better understand the origin of evil we need to consider something else found in the first few verses of Genesis chapter 6 that caused God to decide to destroy the earth with a flood. GEN 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. Who are these Sons of God? GEN 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. Sons of God = bene Elohim. The term sons of God [bene (sons) Elohim (God)] could only apply directly to Adam or the angels whom God had directly created. Everywhere in Scripture this term is used it refers to angelic beings, Christ, or Adam, with one exception "born again" New Testament believers.[82] 26 Nowhere in Scripture does the term bene Elohim ever refer to the sons of Seth as many today believe. Many prefer the interpretation that equates sons of God to the godly line of Seth because they say that Scripture does not support angels being able to have sexual relations with humans.[78] 27 The words sons of God, they say, is that the godly line of Seth mingled with the ungodly line of Cain, thus corrupting the godly line of Seth. [78] 28 This is certainly possible and reasonable, except that there is no direct Scripture support other than this New Testament reference in Matthew 22:30.[144] 29 MAT 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. The following Scriptures all refer to the sons of God as angelic beings: JOB 2:1; JOB 38:7; and PSA 89:6. Daniel 3:25 refers to the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Adam was directly created, and is therefore called the son of God. LUK 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. Notice that Seth is referred to as the son of Adam. Born again believers in the New Testament are referred to as sons of God. 26 [82] Morris, Ph.D., THE GENESIS RECORD, p [78] Chuck Missler, Mark Eastman, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, Coeur d'alene, ID: Koinonia House, 1997, p [78] Missler, Eastman, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, pp. 208, [144] MATTHEW HENRY S COMMENTARY, Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House,

ROM 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 1JO 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. The intent of the writer of Genesis 6:2 was to convey the idea that these were angels, fallen angels. This is supported by a source found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. [145] 30 Among the Dead Sea Scrolls is the Genesis Apocryphon that mentions the Nephilim, the "sons of God," and the "daughters of men." The Genesis Apocryphon clearly indicates that the "sons of God" are celestial beings that mated with earth-women and had begat giants.[145] 31 Consider this: Whenever angels appear to men they appear in physical bodies. The angels appearing to Abraham ate with him. [78; 145] 32 GEN 18:8 And he [Abraham] took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. Likewise, the angels at Sodom appeared in physical bodies. (Gen 19:1-5) They also ate food. The inhabitants of Sodom believed they could have homosexual relations with them.[78] 33 The New Testament affirms that angels do appear as men. HEB 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. The angels participated in sexual immorality, going after strange flesh, having left their own habitation. "Strange flesh" (heteros) means flesh of a different kind. [145] 34 JUD 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Kenneth S. Wuest, in his Word Studies in the Greek New Testament, indicates that "sons of God" refers to angels that fornicated with beings of a different nature. [145; 146] 35 William F. Allbright said this of the Israelites understanding of Genesis 6:2: The Israelites who heard this section recited unquestionably thought of intercourse between angels and women. [145; 147] 36 Philo, writing in the 1 st century AD relates that the Nephilim were the offspring of a union with angels and mortal women. [78;145;148] 37 The early Church Fathers such as Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Athenagoras, Tertullian, Lactantius, Eusebius, and Ambrose all thought the "sons of God" were angels. [78;145] 38 Nowhere before the 5 th century AD do we find any interpretation for "sons of God" other than angels. [145] 39 Josephus wrote: For many angels of God accompanied with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was good, on account of the confidence they had in their own strength; for the tradition is, that these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians call giants. 15 William Whiston in his notes to the translation of Josephus says: This notion that the fallen angels were, in some sense the fathers of the old giants, was the constant opinion of antiquity. [57; 78] 41 Another ancient source indicates that: The outcome of demonic corruption was violence, perversion, and a brood of monstrous beings. They begat, and, behold, the earth was corrupted with its blood and by the hand of angels. [150] 42 We are speaking about a great apostasy ending in an extreme form of demonism. Satan s purpose was to attempt to corrupt the Seed of Woman, prophesied in Genesis 3:15, in order to prevent his ultimate defeat.[78] 43 GEN 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Speaking of pre-flood civilization, notice this from the ancient book of Jasher, chapter 4, verse 18. [149] 44 JASHER 4:18 and the sons of men in those days [pre-flood] took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord. 41 [57] Josephus, Whiston, A.M., Trans., THE WORKS OF JOSEPHUS, Antiquities of the Jews, Book 1, Chapter 3.1 (73), p. 32.
