The changes he made in the country (3 Points) c. His sickness and the healing ( 3 Points) d. Conclusion (2 Points) OR 2. Vision of Peter and Cornelius: (P78) a. Who was Cornelius and what was his vision? (2 points) b. Describe Peter s vision. ( 3 points) c. Peter s speech and the result of his speech at Cornelius house. ( 3 points) d. Conclusion ( 2 points) Answers: 1. Hezekiah: a. King Hezekiah, the son of Ahaz, became the 12 th King of Judah at the age of 25. He ruled over Judah for 29 years. His name means: Jehovah is strength. His capitol was Jerusalem. He lived up to his name and relied on the true God. b. On his first day on the job as king of Judah, he found his kingdom to be corrupt and his people a superstitious group that pretty much willing to worship any idol put in front of them. Hezekiah set out to change all that. He broke the stone pillars and temples to the goddess Asherah. He destroyed the altars and the pagan places of worship. He got the people of Judah to stop worshipping the bronze serpent that Moses made by destroying that as well. He allowed God s prophet Isaiah to advice and guides him. c. Isaiah gave him a message from God that Hezekiah is going to die and so put his house in order because he will not recover. But Hezekiah prayed to God, I have been good, I believed in You to be my strength. I have been faithful to you in every way and followed you with all my heart. 9

10 Then he cried bitterly. God heard his prayers gave him a new message through Isaiah that in 3 days Hezekiah was to go to the temple and God would add an additional 15years to his life and he would be fully healed. Isaiah commanded him to prepare a paste of figs (Paultice) and apply it to the boils on his body. When the king did this he was completely cured. d. King Hezekiah was a very good King who trusted God completely. There was no one like him among all the Kings of Judah either before him or after him. 2. Vision of Peter and Cornelius: a. Cornelius was a Roman centurion of Caesarea in Palestine, who belonged to a class of families known as God fearer because of their attachment to Jewish religious practices. ( 1 point) b. Cornelius had a vision from God that told him to bring Peter from Joppa to his home. ( 1 point) c. Peters vision: Peter saw in his vision a certain vessel descending from heaven, a great sheet knit at the four corners containing all sorts of four- footed beasts of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, fowl of the air and asking Peter to eat. But when Peter refuses to eat because he thinks it is unclean, a voice says, Do not call anything that God has made clean. This happened three times. ( 3 points) d. Peter s speech at Cornelius house regards the person before him, though not Jews, as fit to enter the Church and share in God s promises. God does not judge men by their outward nature, which God disregards. To the Jews Gentiles were not acceptable to God As a result of Peter s speech the people gathered in the house of Cornelius received the Holy Spirit even before baptism. People started speaking in different languages and praising God. The Gentiles were immediately baptized and the Church was opened to gentiles through Peter. ( 3 points) e. Conclusion: The passage is teaching us how we should treat others of different races or The belief that salvation was only for the Jews was altered. Our food habits should not be a hindrance to our relationship with others. We can see that a chief apostle Peter, held worship with a Gentile and men outside the Jewish church receiving the Holy Spirit. ( 2 points) 10
